Can we have Tanaka back now?

Basically, if you played FFXI in the Zilart days, you would know all the trash taking people did at end game camps most LS hated each other with a passion, and hostility that went on when someone from a rival ls claimed a king. The constant KB wars where people would try to steal kb. The worst I seen at KB was when this one JP player kept spawning the Zilart mission weapon NMs and try to keep dragging it on whoever was fighting KB. Fafnir camp there was always people trying to mpk with spiders.

i really want to know what his vision would have been.
I really don;t think his the one that force the game out, in the state it was in.
It is what it is now so, we just have to deal with 2.0

Maybe MMO directors should be elected every 4 years or something the way some national leaders are. Tanaka had far too many "terms" between FFXI and FFXIV to be re-elected yet again. ;D

Considering how badly that game ran (10-15 fps on max settings with a GTX 480, one of the best graphics cards out at the time) I can't even imagine what the PS3 version would have been like.

Main things I remember from 1.0 are:

Having to walk aaallll the way around becuase of a tiny step and no jump, also remember the nerdrage on the forums when someone mentioned that they add jumping, argument against was pretty much it would turn every into kangaroos and spoil there immersion :P

Spamming 1 skill to build up TP.

Leve parties. Getting aa leve with Cactuar in west than and the party getting one shotted by 1000 needles. Hated Cactuars.

Boring and pretty pointless, but pretty, open world dungeons.

Annoying Ants in Thanalan.

A huge list of content they posted during Beta after people complained of there being (practically) no content in Beta, expectations where that the list of stuff would be in for release, it wasn't, what was in Beta was in live 1.0.

Having to go back to the aether to recharge mana, during levelling mana dropped pretty fast so you where constantly having to go back to recharge.

And as a positive, admiring the detail in the textures for the gear, that was perfect. Only thing though XD And Ydas voice in the Gridanian starter cutscenes, do prefer 1.0 Yda.

True, he should have run the game like he did FFXI.

I really do miss danger in MMO's.... nothing is dangerous in the open...at all.

There's little reason to make things dangerous for the sake of it if it serves no purpose. I'd be more annoyed than afraid if I got stomped on every single time I went out to do a daily, spending 20 minutes to get to a quest that takes less than 5.

I do agree with the sentiment that Tanaka is kind of a scapegoat for the 1.0 fiasco.

Really, the state of the game itself was symptomatic of a MUCH bigger problem with Square-Enix company direction that still kinda persists to this day. FFXIV remains, for the most part, an oasis amidst it because it's got a bunch of crazily focused maniacs at the helm.

DID fail horribly and it made 2.0...Why is everyone coming out the woodworks now?
Should of stayed put in 1.0. There could be some things that should be added from 1.0
but let's be real here, game sucked oh well, and now you got some thing like this

Seems to be 1.2x was heading to the right direction but it was too late...Ah well.
