Is FFXIV up against the clock?

Since this game will have a separate PS3 release, I don't think it has a time limit yet. If PS3 turns out to be good and have good reviews, people will start looking this way. If PS3 version doesn't deliver, then it has limited time.

This game is very WIP even though it is retail already.



3DS 'flopped' because there isn't many games on it yet and a console isn't worth much without games. Especially a handheld. It might turn out to be a success once more games are released.

So since you loved one of their games (since KOTOR 2 wasn't even made by Bioware, but by Obsidian), they "knows have to put up an interesting storyline" (whatever it means)?

It's pretty bad to say it failed just as badly as the VB did which simply isn't true, though I guess it's just the new generation version of the term "flop" considering 3DS is stuck in a typical cycle that happens when consumers decide to wait for something to get it, which then in turn makes developers wait to support the system because they don't see fan demand for it being high. They pushed it out way too soon, but the sales on Zelda OoT 3D kind of shows it didn't "flop", just doing poorly, especially given it was way overpriced.

It is a bad launch, no one denied that, but a fail on the size on VB? Far from it honestly.

rofl Diablo III =/= mmo, so i don't think it's gonna pull away anybody that wasn't already going to leave in the near future.

I've been on FFXIV since it came out, and even though I don't play it as much as I should, I'll still go back to it. I'm playing at least 3-4 other games besides ffXIV right now, and I *still* get on whenever I can.

So I don't think any new BIG game that comes out will suck people away from FFXIV for good. At least, not me ^^;

I should mention though that there is an upcoming MMO called Secret World which I'm eager to try..and even if it turns out to be the most fun thing ever, I'll still come back to XIV XD A mix of having awesome friends on it and the occasional new, fun patch keeps me playing 14.

Diablos III will pull those away from the mmos that have no business playing them in the first place... that is about it.

Yeah, Skyrim is gonna make FFXIV fail for sure.
Dungeon Siege III too.
The Last Story too.
Diablo III too.
White Knight Chronicles II too.
Duke Nukem Forever too.
Super Meat Boy too.
To not speak of Colin mcRae Dirt 3.
And All-Points Bulletin: Reloaded.

Pal, I'm interested on EVERY game I've listed, but even if I play those, I will still log into FFXIV. The game released dead. The Dead release died and not many people (at least in Switzerland) knows of its existence, and who knows would say it fails and it deserves to be redone. The REAL release of FFXIV is going to catch even more eyes.
