Harsher Penalties for Tanks who Immediately Leave Duty Finder

Well as a DPS its hard to hit what the tank is going to be hitting when the Tank keeps switching targets every 5 seconds. I either have the choice to just pull aggro on what i am hitting and hope the tank changes targets to the one I am targetting or just stand there because the Tank doesnt care to keep on one thing and I don't care to stress the healer to heal me. Either way if the tank is going to keep flinging from one target to the next a mark would be nice so i know his priority target. I try not to be a critic when it comes to Tanking since I never been the job but I asked enough questions to tanks in my FC to get a good idea how it works, because I do plan to hit up tanking one day.

Yeah, tanking is already a thankless job at max level. Do a high level duty roulette and the PT makes you feel like you can't tank regardless of how hard you are trying to do your best.

I realize it's not saying much, but I find I get thrown 2-3 commendations just for queueing tank. Most of the time I don't say anything outside of "Hello" and get commended. Meanwhile I could queue as a DPS and explain all of the fight mechanics and get no commendations. I know it's only commendations, but it's better than nothing I guess.

i have queued up as tank quite a bit and i find it happens damn near as often where a dps leaves. Role doesnt affect someone stupidity, the people that Q up then leave got that covered by themselves :D

It really says something when a DPS gets Pharos on their roulette and chooses to requeue for another 45 mins to get a different dungeon rather than try to complete Pharos.

1) you should be happy that that tank left at the beginning because they'll just cause conflict most of the time whether it be cuz they suck at that dungeon, they are going to be lazy and lose aggro a lot, refusing to move with the group, etc.
Tbh atm all the dungeons mobs can be tanked by anyone to an extent, so technically the only real use for tanks is during boss fights. So only if the mobs hit harder,it'll then emphasize and warn that if you pull them and you are not a tank you will die just like that.

Yeah, it's rare for me to put up more than a #1 target nowadays. 90% of the time DPS figure out to hit the mob with <100% health, but mostly I do it to promote aoe dps. If they don't, tank threat got buffed so much that they rarely pull until the end. At any rate, taking a few hits from me isn't going to kill any dps.

I'm still leaning towards the "maybe it's you" theory, actually. I can pull the "I've tanked for 10 years" and "relic+1/myth/allagan" card as well, and my playstyle is to "let'r rip so we all can get through this dungeon faster." After the whole threat buff of 2.1, it's rare for a dps to pull from me at any level cap unless they're fools enough to Flare without waiting for 3+ flashes. And if they do? Big deal, they can take a couple hits before the mob dies, or they're a voke/halone/stun away anyway. If I do remember to mark, it's just for low-level or for the benefit of physical dps so they focus stuff down. If they complain about pulling because they're focusing the wrong target? Hit it with a voke/halone the first few times, inform them politely that they're fools, then let them die. .

Oh, you're one of those people. Not sure why you wanted to get all that gear or tanked for 10 years if you didn't enjoy pushing the limits of what crazy stunts you can do in trivial content after the 1hr in Coil.

Actually, I do remember one time while I was healing that a DPS seemed to deliberately always hit a non#1 target thinking that my fairy would heal him anyway, kept doing it anyway after both tank and I told him to hit the mark order. Both got fed him and let him die a few times and he stopped, end of story. At any rate, I think it's better for you if you just let the trigger-happy dps die a few times (and laugh at them) and just throw away the list.

This thread was made because Tanks leaving a dungeon kills the dungeon another class leaving a dungeon is easily replaced like it never happened. I realized this because yet again another Tank in Roulette left as the dungeon was starting up.

Instead of harsher penalties the Game should allow the stranded players to report the Tank for leaving and if the Tank is constantly doing it than the player can take a Temporary lock on the account for being a troll. This isn't something that can only work for Tanks, can be for all the players the leave dungeon before its over.

There aren't many Tanks out there so they are more noticeable when they leave, Tanks need to be more willingly to do dungeons they don't like because of this. They need to remember that, especially in low level dungeons that are suppose to help players get through the game. For Gods sake they entered the roulette, they must be prepared to deal with a dungeon they don't like.

Here is a thought, level a tank class and do it too if you want. Another option is level a tank class and be one of the good tanks.

As a tank, I know this can be something of an awkward issue. Because of the instant queue, I sometimes you have very little chance to correct an error, such as queuing for a dungeon or deciding you really don't want to do a dungeon you may have queued for.

However, once I'm in, I won't back out. No matter how many times it puts me in Sastasha with three other L50 rouletters.
