People sacrifice good gear for "fashion"

I don't understand this calling from you guys for people to all end up looking like everyone else.

If everyone wears the best for their class all classes look the same, it becomes "homogenized and boring" as people seem to want say a lot on these forums lately.

At this point in time under the current system, nothing you do matters or makes a difference anyways. Enjoy it while it lasts and wear what you feel like wearing for the time being. It makes no real difference and nobody cares. Go plate mage!

Personally I'm hoping the Materia system allows for people to wear what they want while having the stats they want as well.

Like Coatee's but prefer the stats of a Haubergeon?

Wear the Haubergeon and max out its AP, Convert it to Materia and mount it to the Coatee. Now the Coatee has the Haubs stats and you can be happy in both appearance and stats.

The OP was pretty vague he didnt provide any examples.

Basically it comes down to this if you don't like the gear they're wearing kick them out of your party. I'm sure the community appreciates this kind of attitude. You should know though that this tiny discriminant in the stats amount to nothing.

Not to OP, but to everybody here who posts that wearing favorite gear is wrong.

"Who are you to judge other people?"
"Why do they have to follow you?"
"Why must you party with other people you dislike?"
And..
"If you aren't partying with them, why care?"

In reality people who want to look fashionable can go along with same type of people. It won't effect those who care. And people who care should just group within your own group so that you don't have to order other people around.

The people you think are selfish are actually the ones allowing you to play with your own narrow minded selfish way, cause they make up for your lack of performance.

PS: The OP NEVER talked about the BEST gear in each slot, he talked about gear thats "useful" for your class, rather than just looks. Just look at the CON/THMs...a lot of them wear Bladed Lantern Shields, cause they look better. But it gives Attack+, while the Square Shields give Magic Accuracy...its not about wearing the BEST gear possible, its about wearing gear thats at least useful for your class...

Now, let us understand each other. First of all, my comparison was about the attitudes involved, it was not about comparing the events that led to such attitudes. Don't try to fool us all that people who complain about the gear that others wear are all nice and pleasant about it. I'm pretty sure most of them act just like you and start cussing at those pesky losers with the crappy gear on as soon as they meet them. Of course I'm wrong! You are all pleasant, and those people with the crap gear are evil cretins with demonic red eyes and dripping fangs. They are revolting trolls with maggot filled intestines!

Where was I? Right, and next up on the agenda is that magic word. Performance. Yes there we have it folks, MMO gaming in a nutshell. Performance. Buy FFXIV for your performance craving needs!. "I bought FFXIV and it was the most optimal gaming experience I've ever had! We had hours and hours of grinding in optimal gear that everyone else was wearing! Oh Oh and the party members were so fun to chat with! We shared thoughts on the DPS ratio of archer to 20 decimal points! SO FUN". I read that review on the back of the box, honest!

Indeed, people who just want to chill out and have fun... they are selfish. They are evil. If only they would see our way of thinking... be optimal, wear what you are told to wear, do what you are told to do. Only then will you find true happiness.

I'll just say this, if you're paying more attention to my gear than your own role in the party, I don't want you in my group to begin with.

All I'm saying is that if one player in my party is complaining about another player's gear, guess who's getting kicked? It's not the one getting complained about, I'll tell you that for sure. Stuff like that makes the party no fun, and that's my goal, to have fun.
