Sounds good, I figured the petitions were everywhere and they helped, but if not, cool beans. I guess the only thing they will listen to is more likes on the first message in the thread like they did in Beta? I don't know. Either way I think the blatant censoring because of a select few actions is not the answer.
Not sure what my thoughts are on this
I hope you understand that this will not, in any way, prevent the taking of inappropriate screenshots. People already take inappropriate screenshots with the emotes we have. Yet you guys are still worried about that?
This is a game with references to rape, sexual exploitation, threesomes (Ruby-Eyes, Sapphire-Eyes, and Longhaft, anyone?), legal prostitution (both a FATE in Costa del Sol and NPCs in Thanalan), replete with suggestive conversation and commentary, and you're worried about inappropriate screenshots? o_O
I think your priorities are skewed.
I know that you're still scarred from your apparent interactions with Moon Guard, but seriously, if you'd just not gone to Goldshire, you wouldn't have had a problem. BTW, WyrA's Goldshire was just as bad before CRZ.
This game has plenty of perverted references in it already. A sleep emote isn't going to change that, and it isn't going to prevent "inappropriate screenshots." And ERP is still going to happen no matter what you do.
Sorry but WRA's goldshire was nothing like moon guards. Yeah they had newbie rp, most often boring, and god moders. But every time I had visited it, there wasn't any ERP. And after CRZ, MG spread to all inns everywhere. Lakeshire, Darkshire, everywhere. It probably isn't as bad now because that game is on its death bed on life support at this point.
But as I said, inconsiderate ERPers who love making public spectacles, this decision by SE I view as a deterrent. Overall, I love this new laying down animation, especially for miqo'te. And it's only because of the bad apples, we wont be able to use it in the open world. Defending the bad apples and railing on SE for trying to combat it, helps no one. Maybe we as players, should find a solution to make everyone happy?
Overall, I view the decision more like "Hey we are tossing this emote in as a bonus for player housing". And it also makes more sense to relax in a bed in the player housing area, than in a field full of wild beasts, or in towns/villages that use the beds currently for sick/wounded and citizenry. Even in coerthas, the beds are reserved from an IC point of view, to the Ishgardians. Just like in Drybone, the beds are reserved for the suffering hobos and citizenry of the area.
And what if we're roleplaying someone sick or wounded, or a citizen of one of those small towns, or an Ishgardian, or a "suffering hobo"? It's not like those beds are off limits for RP.
As far as a solution to make everyone happy - such a thing would not involve restricting an emote to a very particular, instanced location in the game.
Regardless of ERPers. The whole idea of a game like this is to have the widest range of freedom to have fun the way you want. Normal RPers would rejoice in the ability to lay down on the ground. Perhaps even allowing Miqote Males to actually sit down instead of balancing on their toes? Limiting the many because of the few doesn't sound like a good business model if you ask me.
