My whole point is the main storeyline. And what makes you think that they can keep DoH/ DoL equal to DoM/ DoW on other new missions etc? If they do we get a gimped down version because they are not equal.

Hard to say. My intent was to level some form of crafting early ( not repeating the mistake I made in XI ) in order to have an economic role. However, adventuring income through leves is somewhat higher than anything that was available in XI, so I may have dropped it by now without the necessity of repairs.
Crafters don't belong directly in the battle.
However, for example on a shipboard battle, weavers can repair sails, carpenters can patch holes in the hull, blacksmiths/armorers/alchemists maintaining cannons can contribute in a combat situation without actually fighting.
You really do cry a lot.
How about doing something useful with that grey matter between the ears and propose to the Devs to get rid of crafting/gathering as a class. I'll even help you out in getting started.
1. State your idea as to why the Devs should get rid of the crafting/gathering and put it as a side thing for players to do.
2. Give three supporting reasons with strong structure to back up your facts.
3. Share them with us so that we can also see why you chose to propose your idea and maybe others will help you out.
4. Finalize your proposal and send it to the Devs.
5. Wait for an answer from Devs and see if they implement it.
6. Celebrate if you get your way, cry some more if you don't.

But to be more specific, It was mostly the need to repair every hour or so. When NM's were released they dropped craft materials instead of gear. Even crafting classes had to rely heavily on annoying recipes that required even more crafting and/or gathering.
SE is, obviously, steering away from this now. Thank the gods.
I only meant that it's up to SE to not alienate either side (Crafting/Gather or Melee/Magic).
NM's should be dropping gear & crafting materials (we need more diverse loot tables for NMs).
However, to most people, Melee/Magic classes are usually considered the "funner" side (instead of gather/craft). Because of this, i think SE should cater a bit more to DoW/DoM for the time being.
From playing this game at start, I feel, this game was made easy because the game design was for casual players. That is why they are reworking almost every aspect of the game. Because of this, SE would do well to rethink having gather's and crafters as a class and an equal to DoW/DOH. Crafters and gather's can't go slay a dragon... maybe knit the dragon a scarf or build a dragon trap. If they continue to allow all the classes to be equal with the same missions, we will get gimped versions. Personally, I feel they should do away with DoH/DoL as a "class" or they should elevate them more so they can be equal. I agree the game was on easy mode at the start but I think that is why they are redoing almost everything now to appease the players.
You know what really screws crafters? Me buying out crystals and selling them at marginally higher prices.
So a number of crafters rank up and make a set of armor and a weapon for another player.
NM's are released and cannot be killed by the crafters so the fighters go and kill it.
What kind of sense (although convenient) would it make for an Ahriman to drop a full piece of armor? After (originally) a satisfyingly difficult fight it drops a wing which makes more sense.
The fighter returns to the crafter with this rare item that the fighter can't use the crafter creates the doublet with several synths and can feel a sense of accomplishment in completing a difficult synth.
The crafter now has a high ranking piece of gear that will help him create Awesome Gear +1, +2 or +3 that the fighter would normally have no access to if the crafter's stats weren't boosted by the gear created from the wing of a monster only the fighter could kill.
You complain about the amount of crafting in the game, but if you look beyond the inconvenience you believe it causes you can see the system actually makes sense.
And for a crafter such as myself I find a great deal of enjoyment in crafting things that people need for better gear.
