I wanted to hit the 8 digit mark for housing mostly, FC house and personal house since we don't have any prices yet.
The problem with this kind of thinking is it's not a question anyone has to answer. There are no rules against owning a surplus of money, provided that money was earned in an honest fashion. Maybe some people want to save up for future content that requires funds, maybe some people just enjoy earning money, what does it matter?
It's akin to asking someone playing Galaga why they push for a higher score when they already have the top spot on the rankings, people like to improve.
That does not make it right regardless, also it was divided by 100 not 10.
If you actually read the thread, you would see exactly how much my crafted items were selling for, also I don't believe their is a rule about not making too much gil lol.
You have a lvl 50 DoW/DoM class, I don't I wanted to make gil, my choice of how I play the game, or so I thought...
Yes divided by 100, I just ment they took the same approach to balance the economy around release. Which got severly screwed up in a month due to hackers/bots/cheaters etc. So now they had to go and do something to remove the wrongfully earned gil. The prices mentioned were also high for the age of the game, unless you bought gil or played the market/gold buyers.
If it wasnt for the gil buyers, there isnt a big chance that you or any other crafter for that matter would earn the money they earned. It's billions of gil they had to freeze over very few accounts, around 7000 or so. So the effected accounts are a very small portion of the total accounts.
No, what they did between v1 and v2 was entirely different. That was redenomination of the game economy that affected *everyone*, even NPC pricing and rewards. In redenomination, everything was reduced to 10%: not only gil in our purses but all prices in-game. For example, in v1 I have 1000 gil and NPCs sell a hat for 1000 gil. In v2 I now have 100 gil and NPCs now sell that hat for 100 gil. No change in buying power.
And it wasn't due to RMT either. Yoshi-P explained that it was due to the price of expendables like arrows. For v1 they found they either had to charge fractions of gil per arrow, or multiply everything by 10 so arrows cost a whole number of gil. For v2, they stopped charging for arrows and undid the multiply-by-10.
In comparison, this recent act by SE was seizure of money from a few. They had 1000 gil and NPCs sell a hat for 1000. Now they have 10 gil and NPCs still sell that hat for 1000. Meanwhile everyone else still has 1000 gil.
Call it coincidence, but since service went paid for most yesterday, I didn't see one single RMT spam the whole day. Not one yell, shout, or whisper. I wonder if these RMT companies were taking advantage of the free trial to earn as much as possible before toning it down. Or did SE finally do something about them? Anyway, a bit off topic, but not much to say about what happened to the people who lost gil. It was unfairly handled, but probably needed to be done - things like that have to be done in a more respectful manner though. Not sending a blanket email saying you cheated and we are suspending you and taking your gil. A meaninful investigation should have taken place and the results explained to the players.
Another interesting note- just before all these suspends/bans happened, I noticed people shouting that they would buy Allagan pieces for up to 150% of their worth... seemed like blatant money laundering to me because they knew they were guilty of something. Not saying this about the OP or others, but there are players out there that have definitely earned gil in a wrongful way, and they know it.
So your saying that a crafter that made 8mil and now has 80k (and lost a week) and a crafter with 7.9mil who still has 7.9mil + whatever he/she made in the week, are both being treated equally?
If the want to remove a fixed percentage of gil, they should remove it from EVERYONE, as EVERYONE is affected by RMT gil, including yourself.
Also the prices I mentioned can easily be bought with legit gil, 2k-50k is hardly hard to make. I've made 400k from leve's alone without even trying do the ones that give good gil. (well I had until SE also took that gil away...) That's not including the shards / items they also give.
One of the other threads on this topic has just been deleted.
A 60 page thread just deleted... Not a single word from a Community Rep/Mod.
In brighter news, I Actually managed to speak to a GM! In game.
He asked how I made so much gil, so I told him.
He asked how much I had lost.
He said after the convo this would be investigated, but could take some time.
I asked if I was telling the truth, will my gil be returned, he assured me it would if I'm legit.
Sounds promising, waiting game now I guess.
