Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

I'd like to see improvements upon the system on a fundamental level while keeping resources in check.

1. Change the tag of "outdoor furnishing" to "indoor/outdoor furnishing". This will allow for better management of inventory, increase decoration combinations indoors, and allow gardening for those that couldn't afford a plot.

2. Add new layout presets that can be purchased for half the cost as if you had bought an equivalent plot. For example, you could buy the interior of a small (1.5m), medium (10m), large (25m) and they would naturally come with the storage increase already built in. If you relocate to another apartment or plot, you keep the upgrades you bought. Additional layouts can be bought for their respective prices, and you keep them unlocked if you decide to change the interior. Buying the plot would already have the base layout unlocked if you didn't have it already.

3. Apartments are the base size of an FC room. With new layouts, you can make presets beyond what is already in the game, like having a small with stairs leading upwards instead of downwards, making the room twice the size as a square or twice as long as a rectangle without the stairs, keeping the combined size the same as a small. You can do similar layouts for the medium and large versions.

4. These changes can also be applied to both plots and apartments, further enhancing ward usage, which would reduce the need to swap locations unless you prefer a closer marketboard, a different outside view, or just a bigger yard.

Please please please let us move items in the z axis... Glitching things up is absolutely insufferable. We got viera bunboys, more glamour space, more wards, I feel like this is next big feature to integrate...

A way to darken/lighten each floor individually would be a nice addition I think.

I'd like to see a kweh-kweh clock that actually chimes the hour....the current one is cute, but also mildly disappointing.

While I can completely understand the walls, doors, and roof being tied to a house along with being able disabling the use of being able to put in the other optional items upon the side of a house, I still wish that we can change out the fences on said walls. There are just some fences that I wish I could use in exchange for the one that is currently there. The Sukiya-zukuri house itself is absolutely gorgeous, however I despise the fence and the location of the house itself. It makes it so that the back of the house is completely cramped up, and the varying height of the fence makes it incredibly hard to decorate with and is incredibly linear.

With each new wall that I get, just realized how much I wish there was a way to change up at the fence line, and to be able to move exactly where my house is upon my own plot. While I do realize that the ability to move my house on my plot to exactly where I wish, and to be able to rotate it however I'd like might be a bit much to ask for, the least I wish is to be able to change up the fence on each of the walls. It honestly makes me long for the house customizability that we had previously with different parts and I do wish we got to see a lot more of it to really make each plot unique aside from the decorations that we can put down upon it.

tl;dr Let us play with the entire house outside, and let us at least change the fence of these new walls.

Legit, please let me move things anywhere. Apartments are so small but the worst part is not being able to sink things into the floor. ;n;

The White Rectangular Partition is great but I would love to have more variations to choose from. A Glass Rectangular Partition to create Windows, or a Verdant Rectangular Partition for those spaces where only half will suffice and you don't wanna clip through the floor above or below.

Before they can move to a new plot they must give up there current plot and be on a lockout for a set amount of time (no purchasing any property no FC room or an apartment) before putting in for a new one. I just lost a plot to a person who is a known plot exploiter who just walked up to the plot put it in there gil and won the plot....this is depressing over the last 5 years to get a plot only to lose to a known exploiter...when is SE going to put something in place to stop this???

Pretty much this. Also it would be nice that i can plop down the imitation windows on all partitions.... its inconsistent.

I know this is a pipedream but it would be nice if past seasonal event furniture and interior items were added to the Recompense Officers in the city-states. (❁°͈▵°͈)
Back when they first came out, I use to own wallpaper like the Eerie Wallpaper and Starlight Interior Walls but back then removing wallpaper destroyed it. Your only way to prevent this was to buy a large amount of them (and none of them can stack, so they took up inventory/retainer space in a time before the devs increased player and retainer inventory space or Saddlebags were even a thing) and hope you don't get inspired to change your room's/home's look.
Not to mention food furnishings, that would get destroyed if you returned them to your inventory during a time when house-storage didn't exist.
I know a lot of the older event items are sellable on the marketboard, so to prevent this they could sell the Deluxe versions that are on the Mogstation to those who complete the event or add a third version of those items that isn't sellable. (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑

I would like:
Blank partitions with an arch (for all housing types Glade, Mist etc)
Blank partions with doors (again for all housing types)
Blank half-partitions

Double width partitions in marble and blank for all housing types (would make panelling a room take far less slots)
Marble half partitions
Marble beams

A frosted glass partition that could be used to make patio doors, shower stalls etc (assuming realistic glass with reflections won't be possible)

This post is to address the fact that my alt won a plot and my main character can't get one or be added to the housing share list because their on the same account. I would like to put the suggestion out that we are able to have access to houses that alts win on all our character's.

Add an option that like the Island Sanctuary, the house guest access can be party members, friends, or FC only.

There are times where you don't want unfamiliar faces creeping into your house and it would be nice to be able to regulate that without having to lock the doors to everyone or limit it to 3 shared estate guests.

....just...throwing this idea out there....can we have a set of stairs for outdoor furnishing? ....been like...10 years, and i can find probably 15 + items with stairs on them for indoor use....but not a single one for outside.

Speaking of stairs. I saw a house skin, which i don't know the name of, that had a balcony (large house, not sure if other homes have that skin) can we request to have stairs go to the balcony and be able to actually use it!

i'm curious if you're referring to a few of the housing skins for the large? i believe.
i'm not certain, but i think the ones i know of are:

And i agree fully. there really isn't any reason why we shouldn't be allowed, or able to get up to those balconys.

I have a really novel idea.

Remove placement restrictions on all furnishings and allow them to be moved freely by a z,y,x axis.

Definitely the first to come up with this idea.

While I’m happy with the variety of exterior house styles we have in this game, there’s still some that I would really like to see available as options.

In particular, I've always wanted to have the option to make a fairy tale-esque castle like for example, the Neuschwanstein Castle:

This is a very minor thing, but I'd like some of the furnishings that are currently only available via Company Credits to, well, be available through other means. Make them resellable on the MB at least, my WoL would love a copy of the Antecedent but I'm not going to form my own FC to get it.

An ability to make a FC banner for inside and outside that we can post on the Like the city state banners but we get to design the shape and colour, like when we make the FC crest or the FC reaches a rank we can make it and purchase it with credits.

I noticed this Vath jug was vaguely paissa shaped and thought it was cute but the more I look at it the more I like the design and colors on it in general.

Would we be able to get more tribe furnishings? I can think of several that are for outdoors but not as many indoor furnishings.

My wish list:

3 floor Smalls: Attic, Ground Floor and Basement

Increase all indoor item limits by 100, outdoor by 10. Or more, but this would be a good start.

Lofts and stages should act as floors. Or failing that, more chairs, beds and other furnishings designated as tabletop for easier placement.

More housing skins that are not “all-in-one.” Let us mix and match walls, fences, etc. Themed sets without being businesses is nice too. I’d love to see a log cabin that wasn’t also a flower shop.

Observatorium house walls… like the one in Ishgard, but with an outer staircase to a balcony or the roof on the right side (using the space the cafe walls do for the outdoor seating), with a small telescope. If the scope can be rotated to point at the starry part of the sky, even better!

Sneaky Hollow (All Saints Wake) house walls. And pretty much everything in there we don’t already have as furnishings.

More starry, astronomy themed furnishings. Especially need starry rugs and tapestries… and that floor in the Crystarium’s Ocular, or a circle rug that looks like it!

More rug designs, plus more dyeable rugs. And make the dyed ones match other fabric that is dyed! Also more in-between sizes… bigger than a doormat, but smaller than half an apartment.

More dyeable beds, couches, chairs… and/or go back and make all the old ones dyeable. Especially the Glade Canopy Bed and the matching couch and chairs.

More doorway partitions. Similar to marble arch would be nice, but in all different styles, with or without actual doors.

Ability to use weapons as furnishings, on walls or maybe a display stand that shows them with their animations!

More variety of steps. And shorter steps too. I’m thinking troupe stage or round stage height.

A cold knights campfire without the benches… or a smaller version that could fit better in a small yard.

The Endwalker key art painting, and the Zodiark/Hydaelyn poster that was in the background for recent Live Letters.

A case or basket or something containing the Convocation star crystals we collected as a decor item.

An Eastern Indoor Pond that’s about half the size of the current one.

A tapestry or banner for the Astra and Umbra emblems from Crystalline conflict (and t-shirts to match for a glam item too would be nice!).

I would like to see dyeable wallpapers and floors.

My list is basically confirming with what a couple of other people stated.

• Make an upstairs for small houses. It would raise the appeal for smalls much like the medium and larges do having them.
  
• Option to purchase lofted private chambers/apartments to allow more furniture placement. The crafted lofts can be used if players want to add more.
  
• Increase furniture placement and storage for both interior and exterior. It's frustrating losing space because partitions/windows take up a majority of it when designing.
  
• Allow for previews of interior/exterior features. It would benefit players to be able to preview housing fixtures without having to buy/craft them first.
  
• Allow the option to remove the chandelier or create smaller ones that don't hang so low so when using the lofts you don't have to build around it.
  
• More furniture easily placed on lofts (beds, couches, desks, etc). It's frustrating/time consuming to float furniture to get it to look right on the lofts.
  
• More furniture that is already in game, for example:

  Granted some pictures in there are other items I feel should be in game, but since the models are already there for some, it would be nice to have them available to players. To clarify the items:
  - Framed pressed plants [ all 3 bundled into one item ]
  - Ladder shelf with plants
  - Wall of jars [ Similar to the back bar housing item, but with different jars of spices ]
  - Lominsan fireplace [ Personally I've loved this fireplace from the start due to its design. I love the little sections for the logs, the shelves, and that it's low enough to where you can still put tabletop items on the mantle. Making it dyable would also be a benefit. ]
  - Little potted plants [ Tabletop item / all bundled into one item ]
  - Sharleyan tub/sink(?) [ I know we have the other one with the shelves, but this one would be nice to have as well or some variation of it ]
  - A low bookshelf and blackboard [ Two separate items, not combo ]
  - Wooden cabinet [ I saw this in the Baldesion Annex and thought this would be a nice furniture piece to have ]
  - Alchemy set [ It would be nice to have the tools on here including the little box with the set of ingredients/spices in the upper right corner of the table ]
  - Mortar and pestle with potion bottles
  - Antique phone [ I know that there are linkpearls/tomestones, but some players might like the idea of an actual phone? ]
  
• More customization when using dye on housing items. Give us the option to choose which parts of the furniture we want dyed.
  
• Blank door partitions so they can match the blank partitions available in game.
  
• Allow window and door customization options for interior fixtures, especially FC rooms and apartments since there is no way to change them like on houses.
  
• More frame designs for the wall and fish tank designs.

Wish list :

- Increase item slot (inside) for every house/appartment by at LEAST 50.
- Increase item slot (Outside) for House by at least 10.
- Add toilet (Please ! For immersion !)
- Allow to replace the wooden/stone beam on the walls, cause changing the wall don't do that. That's a huge point cause some "wall" won't fit with wooden beam (Exemple : Ishgardian wall with Shirogane Wooden beam).
- Allow to move/replace/suppress the pillar in the large house (Similar to above, but pillar use to be in the way...)
- Allow to modify the original windows (Who change with the exterior) by our own choice.
- Allow to replace the staircase style of every type of House (Just like how you change Wall or floor)
- Allow the Lamp to be moved/suppressed/replaced individually instead of the whole floor, thus, increasing diversity inside the same floor.
- Allow "fake windows" to be place on partition (Some can be placed, but not every windows)

Yes, please!! My mom is actually an interior designer, and while I am not at her level, it's the one thing that's been majorly bothering me with my small little home in game. I spent months doing the lotto, and sadly most of the wall designs seem very busy, especially with a small lot.

I know it's probably been said a few dozen times, but seriously - I would kill to either have retainers indoors or to be able to glamour my vendors (or both!). Seriously, SE, if any of you need someone taken care of.. I'm just saying.. one little change..

I want more winter-themed housing items that go with the Unmelting Ice Partitions and Unmelting Ice Lofts - indoor snowy trees, ice pillars, snow mounds, etc.

You know what I also want to see as a housing item? A tip jar.

Many players on this game have some RP events held around their shops and establishments, so a tip jar would be nice for players to have if they so wish to leave it there in case people want to donate a little gil rather than go through a trade.
