Fun fact: a good, i210 geared paladin who has memorized a1n will never need healed beyond a single cast of Regen per jump after the split. provided none of the missiles hit.

New DRK in Hullbreaker Isle. This is the first I experience the kind of tank so many in this thread have talked about.
Me: Aggro all over! Maintain Darkside and use cooldowns pls.
Tank: Not necessary. We are not speeding this. (wut??)
Me: Darkside actually increases enmity and damage.
Tank: I'm fully aware of that. (still no Darkside)
Me: Y did Fray teach you Shadowskin?
Tank: (airballs an Unleash)
Wiped like 5 times in the dungeon. Took maybe like an hour.
He surely did not want to speed this XD
Why did you keep healing him ?
I mean : "No defensive CD = No healing" right ?
If the tank do not do his job why would the heal do his ?
Derp moment, and I was the healer ;)
A4, I rolled with a bad group who pretty much ignored mechanics (lost count of the number of times we wiped to ppl ignoring Jagd Dolls). Still, me and the other healer somehow managed to keep the group alive until he dropped dead from Nisi. I swiftcasted.......................
............ and hit Holy.
Suffice to say, that didn't end well.
Respawn, reset, I made an excuse and quietly left out of shame ><
I had another one of those tanks in Arboretum tonight.
You know the ones. The ones who are only slightly above the gear level, yet pull everything they possibly can and never once use defensive CDs? The only one they used was Living Dead before the second wall.
I was basically relegated to Heal Bot, which is almost insulting for me, as I normally spend about 70% of my time in Cleric on WHM. I have to wonder sometimes if tanks see the themselves when I'm having problems keeping you up, even spamming Divine Seal+Presence of Mind Cure IIs and a Swiftcasted Holy for its Stun.
I felt like I was intentionally being trolled.
Every baby tank who decided to go STR stating from the get go, especially the instances where I have as much health as a SCH as he/she does as a tank.
How about when your MP is running low, you've popped your cd's and you're waiting for them to reload when the tank pulls more trash... R.I.P Tank and rest of the group :D
Pharos Sirius (Hard)

On the final boss, my FC was going in for Roulette clears. During the phase with the double Remedy Bombs, the first Remedy Bomb causes party damage and I am at 50% mana popping everything but Shroud of Saints(on CD) to heal the party back up. The second bomb wipes both DPS and I'm left with 15% mana healing a tank and me with about 6-7 fire resist DWN stacks.
Oooh just realized we have a LVL 2 LB to use! With myself at about 500 HP left, Benediction myself to full HP and LB to get more Mana to raise the rest of the group.
Couldn't help by sigh and rest my face on my keyboard when we were done!
I posted this in the df horror thread but figured it applies here too and since i haven't really posted a horror story on this thread in awhile figured might as well share
Ran a brayflox NM on my healer it starts the tank is still a MRD and they are level 38 (I knew it was gonna be fun already…) I notice the tanks hp and they only have roughly 150 more hp than me. I check their gear and they only have 1 lvl 1 accessory a lvl 25 heavy armor a lvl 25 flanchard the rest was ok for that dungeon ( a lvl 34 weapon a lvl 32 gauntlet and a lvl 30 waist ). Their hp was dropping really fast I had to spam the cures heavy they didn’t use a single defensive cool down. They always used the lb when it filled. There was many wipes and hate battles between them and the NIN it took forever and the NIN ended up tanking the final boss. I probably should have just took the penalty and bounced…
Ever got stuck with a DPS who kept dying after getting resurrected?
Happens to me sometimes whenever my team reaches the final boss in dungeons or mid/final phases in trials and I end up having to dodge some boss mechanics (you know, the attacks where the boss will only target the DPS unless one of them dies and then targets the healer as well) while trying to Rez with swiftcast on cd. I'm always eye'ing that Rez timer and hoping the boss doesn't cast something in my face lol. Though usually after the 3rd death, I just stop rez'ing the person because of MP issues.
A4 group with 4 melee DPS who kept getting hit by the boss' cleave, killing eachother with splash damage from the lasers, not picking up Jagd dolls, not helping to intercept lasers. And then the tank has the nerve to bitch about healers not picking up orbs. I'm like "dude, I would be more than happy to pick up orbs if I didn't have to stop and heal/raise the party every second because they continue to ignore mechanics, or I'm dead because of jagd doll stacks/lasers because no one picked them up (which happened twice)."
People get brain dead after farming the same fight nonstop for 6 months
I had a nightmare recently, and sadly, it was entirely my fault. It was a fairly standard run through Pharos Sirius Hard, right up until all of my right-side gear broke completely, and I'm unable to fix it.. Still, we make it through the rest fairly well - up until the last few rooms, where the tank says "Gonna pull everything from here to the boss." Okay, fair enough, I prepare accordingly. We pull the second last room all the way through the destructible walls, I set up Sacred Soil and...
Fall off a tiny little ledge, and become completely unable to heal the tank. I had to run all the way around the room again and start blowing every cooldown in the book to keep this guy alive. Like an idiot, I neglect to ask for MP regen time after the fight.
Finally, the boss room. Stoneskin was still new to me, so I put that on everyone and threw Adlo and Succor in for good measure. I didn't notice in time exactly how much MP that whole shebang eats, and I'm still half-starved from my last fight, so from the get-go I'm fighting for MP and Aetherflow stacks.
Ironically, it was a fast one. We take down Red quickly, and Blue starts taking heavy damage. And then, just when I thought I'd gotten my MP back under control, mechanics hit. I think we failed to keep a bomb from going off and Blue used his room-wide AoE shortly thereafter. Whatever happened, one of the DPS was dead and the survivors had ~2000 HP, or less.
At this point I'm pretty much running on terror-fuelled autopilot. Set Eos to Sic, Adlo + both Tactics, my last AF stack on Indomitability, Physick spam. Somehow my dead gear is enough to keep the three of us alive until Aetherflow comes back off cooldown, and I get enough breathing space to rez the DPS. We pull through by the skin of our teeth.
And that was when I started checking my goddamn gear the second I log in.
A4.
Always getting stuck with a healer too quick to eat orbs, too slow to do any actual healing.
I've had this happen to me, while dodging an AoE upon the tank pulling everything to the rear of that same cavern. >.> Except in the short time it took for me to go back around to get back up into LoS to even ED, the mob had already smashed the tank OTL
I know your pain...
Did a Bismarck Ex in DF earlier today I was bored and couldn't get a group together and took a few punts on the DF. Got a couple of decent groups and beat it on a single pull then came the third group. The first sign of trouble is when they have problems killing the first phase in one go with the current gear. Anyway after a couple of tries they got it down and on to the next phase with the two adds.....This is where the problems started.
So the phase starts and this one DRG is hitting the wrong add for their debuff got some heals but they carry on doing it and kill themselves. Get a raise heal up and they are back hitting the same add still not deciding hitting something that is reflecting their damage is a bad idea and deciding not to read the debuff they have and what it does. They die again fairly quickly. At this point they write "......" in chat.
This kind of thing is what really makes me want to rip my hair out in frustration. I can take making mistakes and being yelled at. My bad I probably deserve a telling off but it annoys me no end when somebody blames you for their own stupidity. That kind of lack of awareness of anything happening to them is so irritating. It goes for any class and player but I think Healers get that a lot and unfortunately while we have cures for many things we don't have the cure for being a moron.
it's just a waste to raise them over and over after a while. Doing Sephirot normal today with an FC mate I managed to raise this one guy about 7 times in the whole fight they basically did nothing but get themselves killed in every possible way you can in that fight. The time they actually spent alive was just running around in circles miles away while everyone else was stacked around the boss in the first phase.
No, we weren't wiping, we got to the last boss and the tank claimed we'd wastedtoo much time, the only thing that came close was when he and the BLM dies because he just stood there and did nothing at the second boss, and didn't get up even after I raised him so the MCH and I had to beat the boss. We got to the final boss, nothing else went wrong and he said we waisted too much time, even though we had had a little over 40mins left.
I dont think i need to put in a big story about things that went wrong, all i need to say is:
Go into trial roulette on Scholar. Get paired with an Astrologian. Astrologian immediatly switches on Nocturnal Sect. Astrologian has a case of the stupids and stays in Nocturnal.
Sigh what is it with these Astrologian who dont have a clue about anything with their class synergy with other healers?
I happily go on trial roulette with 2 FC friend
And kinda cry when I saw that we got sephirot NM XD
But it's fine... Fun fight
I check my co-heal et... A whm like me ok no shield i can handle it
First try... He use medica 2 when people are 100%... Medica spam for nothing
Not a single cure 3 when we are all hugging in a single pack
Stay in the middle to put EVERY aoe on the DPS...
Died died and died
We wipe he complaining about mana issue and the fact that we do not have a brd or mch...
Try again
Same as before he died and kill a DPS
I started struggling with mana after 3 raise...
Last phase he died with 3 other DPS by hugging them whe' you should split...
I was so pissed that I didn't bother raising and nearly lost it when he spammed in chat that I should lb3 heal
When I was trying hard to keep the group alive with 1500 mana...
Killed it and got 4 comm'
I did feel proud...
Did Bis EX in DF just for funsies. Got this AST as a co healer who was such a little whine bag. Complained they were healing alone and that I don't heal just "one regen AoE every 30 seconds" which is really all that was needed for most of it nobody was taking damage so I was in Cleric Stance on adds while doing the dragon killers etc by myself and still they just whined that I don't heal. Eventually wind comes and they keep typing "HEAL" in chat and get blown off the platform. It was incredibly satisfying.
The most annoying part of the situation was they were one of only two first timers in the party and they saw fit to dictate to people how to do the fight when they did nothing but overheal in the wrong stance.
I was in a Pidgeon farm in PF just now, myself. At first I solo healed, no problem (people died, but I can't heal people getting knocked off or dying from Standing In The Bad™), even with ample time spent in Cleric. Then one of our DPS left, and people got a SCH for no reason whatsoever, even though I've said multiple times that solo-healing is perfectly fine as long as people don't fuck up on basic mechanics (I mean, it's a farm party, come on). I get told that "healer DPS is not too bad" (even though we didn't even have enough DPS to kill Bismarck in one jump in phase 3, which is sort of ridiculous at the current degree of overgearing), and we pull again. I do my thing, expecting the SCH to hop into CS and stay there for the rest of the fight - which they never do.
My favorite moment with this trainwreck group, though, was the (narrow) kill where people fucked up the Water weather and got Vulnerability Up, activated the cannons for the second jump in phase 3 way too early, and jumped on Bismarck's back with both the Vulnerability debuff as well as 3 stacks of Turbulence. Comment of the resident LOLDRG in the party (who kept attacking the wrong add in phase 2) after dying from this combination: "wtf".
Sometimes I seriously need that "I thought this was a farm party" macro. Worst part is that a pidgeon dropped on one of the three kills we did manage - and I rolled a 5. ;_;
More like a derp story than an horror story on my end, but I got paired with an another AST during an Ifrit trial last week. I toggle Diurnal Sect while he's still loading. He toggles Diurnal Sect, probably by force of habit. I quickly switch to Nocturnal, tank pulls while the other AST switches to Nocturnal as well. We both laugh it off and proceed to murder Ifrit anyway.
It all occurred in the span of 5s, can I have in-battle Sect-dancing please? ;_;
Here's a great one:
Been doing a lot of farming for the new primal mounts. Naturally, most Party Finder groups are an utter DISASTER. I've had a couple that have been okay, and one that has been stellar. Most, however, have made me cry endless rivers of tear.
About 30 mins ago I was in a BisEX farm group I was solo healing for. No biggie, I solo healed Bis/RavEX all the times farming weapons, and several of the mount farming groups I'd been with recently. First run went just fine. Second run, two DPS to some avoidable AoEs, they got ressed by me and the SMN, I had the chance to heal 'em both ONCE with Benefic II before they jumped on Bismarck's back, WITHOUT A PROTECT OR SS, and died shortly after to the DoT. Bye bye two DPS. Again. Others died not long after to Baleen Bombs and explody bubbles, and we wiped. So I say, with no ill intent: "Protip: Don't jump on his back if you have weakness." Another of the DPS gives me a "^" (I think it was the SMN) in agreement.
Then one of the tanks says, "Well maybe you should have healed them. 6k Benefic II would have been enough." I said I DID heal them, and but with the weakness, that DoT, no Protect, no SS, and only enough time to get ONE heal off on each of them (because they both immediately jumped back on his back), that, in fact, was NOT enough to keep them alive. Tank said something else snarky, I ignored it, we tried again, cleared without issue.
We enter for the third time. People decide to start dying LEFT AND RIGHT to stupid shit: eating ALLLL the Baleen Bombs, getting blown up by bubbles, just flat not avoiding orange AoEs, people are STILL jumping on his back with weakness, not avoiding the middle water AoE during Rain weather, not avoiding the donut AoE during Wind... People were also staying on Bismarck's back with 5 DoT stacks when he was nowhere NEAR dead, and I kindly reminded people, in these exact words: "Remember, 5 stacks = bad news". That one tank's response? "If you're having trouble keeping people alive, maybe you should shield them."
??????????
Did he want me to run in Noct? Spend time casting SS on everyone INSTEAD of healing? Dafuq? I remarked that one tick of that DoT at 5 stacks takes away at LEAST half of a person's HP (I know it can take me from full HP to like... 5k? And I have over 13k HP.) And he says "Lol, 5 stacks hits for 11k." Like it's NOTHING. Even if that is an accurate number, 11K IS MORE THAN HALF OF ANYONE'S HP, UNLESS YOU ARE A TANK. (As far as I know, anyway. My AST at i211 has 13kish HP, like I said.) Sorry, but unless I can fire off those 6k Benefic IIs on the entire party before they get hit by two ticks, it's GG. (MAYBE not right away because I did, of course, have my HoTs up, but I wouldn't be able to keep up.)
We wipe, someone leave the party, we exit, the tank is all like "You're having trouble keeping people alive, Miyha, let me trade roles with you. Sorry, but I just don't trust your healing." Number one, I wasn't having trouble keeping people alive. People couldn't DODGE or do what they were supposed to to save their lives. Several other DPS agreed with me, but that tank just insisted it was all me being a terrible healer. To be honest, I would have been obliged to switch with him and give him a taste of what I was trying to heal through, but my DRK is only i150-160 something, and I've never tanked the EX primals on it. He was funny too, because someone also brought up the fact that there was an "MP issue" (which there kind of WAS, because I RESSED SO MUCH that I was practically dependent on my LA CD), and he was like "Nope, there was no MP issue, I was watching." DUDE. I HAD TO RES THREE OF THOSE DPS AT LEAST TWICE IN ONE FIGHT. He also said one of his buddies got hit by lightning and I didn't heal him, when I was FRANTICALLY healing ANYONE who took damage because SO MANY PEOPLE WERE GETTING HIT with SO MUCH CRAP that spam healing Synastry/Lightspeed enhanced AoEs/Benefic IIs weren't even enough to keep everyone alive. By the way, this tank didn't die ONCE... save for on our last attempt, when he actually died via falling off the platform because he became untargetable. Idk if it was just a screw up on his part, or if he did it on purpose to sabotage the run and be an ass...
But yeah. In the end, one of his DPS buddies just said "Fuck this, and fuck this healer." Then left the party. His other DPS buddy stayed behind, and so did he, but the leader of the party ended up disbanding because the drama this dude was causing was ridiculous. I kind of felt that I was part of the problem, since I did retort and defend myself, so I sent a tell to the party leader shortly after the disband apologizing for not helping the situation, and he said it wasn't my fault: I wasn't doing anything wrong, and that tank was just looking for someone to blame. And, naturally, it's always the healer's fault.
He reformed a party and tried again, but the new party was even more special (the one guy that said he'd get a dragon killer didn't even bother to get his own dragon killer and I didn't realize his was unmanned fast enough to run from mine to his, and again, LOTS of dying to pointless AoEs and mechanics), so we gave up.
Good GOD. Easily one of the worst horror stories I've encountered so far in this game. ._. Sometimes I wonder why I enjoy healing so much...
Called that mechanic so many times and still people stand in the middle >.<. Sure you can have issues seeing colours but everyone can read "Stay out mid" so there really is no excuse to mess up whatsoever. I always do the shield and one of the canons as Healer letting hopefully the other Healer do the other one which doesn't always happen but the one that really bugs me is I'll delay the canon as long as possible so they can clear the adds and I get random DPS running to the canon sometimes shooting it. First dropping DPS to do something the Healer can do and is already doing since they are standing next to the thing is stupid and second pushing the stupid thing too early causes a problem because they then go back to killing adds so you just lose time on it's back. Though the other Healer being a deer in headlights and not using the other canon is even more annoying. It's the perfect "You had one job" situation in this game.
At that point I just would've said "I'm leaving so some other Healer can put up with your bullsh*t." Tank must have been trolling and that dps must have been trolling. I have not done that fight before but I've seen it
done by MTQ and she said 3 or more stacks and a part wipe is imminent. You just had a f*cked up tank.
This was last night, all i have to do is paint the picture for you, Stone Vigil, Dark knight, no pants and no accessories. the Gods must be mad at me because that was the longest damn run of my life...finished with 25min left on the clock.....on the bright side no one died. #curebomb lol
So, yesterday I entered A8N for the weekly as an AST.
I don't have as much experience with Astrologian as I do with the other two healers, and I was mining before the queue popped, I forgot to put my sect on.
Now, the other healer and their friends went ballistic on me, pelting me with insult after insult, until I ended getting kicked after wiping (they couldn't kill the bombs in time)
The guy who did the insulting was an old member of my FC, to boot, I swear I still have things crafted by him on my inventory somewhere.
I had a bad day and that only made it worse.
Healed a tank who was wearing level 50 gear in the vault.
It wasnt too bad....we wiped a few times though...
It can be done as long as they don't have weakness or stand in the middle getting the vulnerability debuff especially this because they just die almost instantly. WHM makes it fairly easy since you can pop assize after they jump on the back then swiftcast cure III or medica spam and hope they get enough heal spam to stay alive while it dies. It's worth going for if it's low enough after the first go at it usually a LB3 alone will finish it off so you just need to keep them alive long enough to get it off.
Hidden Temple last night
At the first fight, the tank received a ton of damage from the three bats. I left CS and struggled to heal him.
Checking his equipment revealed level 20s gear, even though his level was 41 without level sync (37 with level sync).
Tried to use Repose to sleep the mobs the group wasn't attacking, but the DPS wouldn't concentrate on the tank's target, so it was nearly impossible to keep them asleep. So the tank was taking so much damage, leaving me little time to DPS.
Plus, the DPS output was SO low. It took about 45 minutes to clear the dungeon, with me switching into CS at every possible moment to help the DPS.
They wouldn't kill the stone faces on the glowing squares, nor kill the Temple Bees first until I explained it.
And none of them were first-timers!
I was using Virus and Eye for an Eye as soon as they were off cooldown every chance I had to keep this tank alive and give me some time to DPS.
And in the end, received no commendations.
My friend wanted me to do Expert roulette with him - I went as SCH. we got the lost city of amdapor HM.
Me and my friend said hi etc, no reply from either the tank or the other dps; it's the new norm I guess :(
Tank runs ahead, he and the other dps ignore add and focus on the ugly egg things. We make it through there, past the 3 new adds that spawn. Beetle still hasn't been killed.
Tank proceeds to run and pull aaaallllll the adds on the pathway down to the next egg blockade. At this point I'm pretty worried as the tank hasn't popped any CD's. I burn all my lustrates, the beetle is being annoying and attacking other party members at random causing them to lose pretty big chunks of their health and selene is doing her thing and healing them while I try to focus on tank. At this point all my CD's have been used. Aetherflow is down and I'm praying to the gods that my physick spam will pull us through this.
It doesn't. I let the tank know that maybe that was a "bit" too much. he replied with " I wasn't getting healed enough" okay... I let it slide, I didn't want to hate him so early in the dungeon. Anyways, Tank goes down. My friend goes down too and the bard runs from the mob - bringing them all the way to where we spawn. Tank spawns and immediately aggros the mob back and I'm pretty confused as to why. Aetherflow is still down, MP is extremely low. I haven't even had the chance to summon eos or selene and tank dies AGAIN.
Luckily DPS had gotten the mobs health pretty low so I barely managed to keep them alive while the tank spawned back and we managed to salvage that horrible situation.
Once that was over my friend jokingly called me a dumb >insert curse here< and I see the vote kick notification. I'm sitting there like :
and my friend went bye-bye
I simply went " awww that was my friend" sob, sob.
Tank replied:you can leave too.
So I did.
I ended up feeling like I dun goofed as a healer ;~ ;
Queued in to Expert Roulette as WHM with my sister as BRD for tomes. We landed in Antitower with a PLD and SMN.
My sister noticed the SMN was wearing the new i220 crafted pieces with the i146 book. In hindsight, I should've taken this as a sign.
First few trash pulls before Frogger was taking a while. I started to notice the lack of casting from our SMN. I kept a close eye throughout the fight and noticed minimal Ruins, no Tridisaster, no Bane, no Shadowflare, and at least one Painflare. Most noticeable of all is after that 1 Painflare I remember seeing, they did not get a stack of Aetherial Attunement. They didn't bother doing all the job quests.
The whole run ran upwards of 45 minutes, with near wipes on the final boss as there was insufficient amount of DPS to break me and the tank free from Dollhouse, and either me or the DPS eating Knockout. At the very least, the SMN was kind enough to resurrect me.
Just finished a Sephirot (Normal). Fight was 13 and a half minutes long with a total of 17 deaths - one of them being my own as I LB3'd and then ate a bunch of DELICIOUS TASTY ROCK PILLARS IN THE FACE! =D during animation lockout.
I ended up giving an Extended Balance to my WAR who was topping DPS due to 0 deaths. The fight actually went long enough for us to LB3 twice as well.
My face hurts muchly now so I think I'm going to go pass out. Thank ya for listening / reading!
Story time!
Ok, so i was doing Roulette: Trials and got Ravana Normal, it's one of my favourite fights and it's quite easy (i already did it like 10 times at least), so i thought it would have been all easy.
1st try, i fall off the stage because i forgot about Pillars of Heaven. I acknowledge it's my fault and for some reason the party wipes (i had a SCH as co-healer which will be the main horror about this). It seemed weird to me that they wiped considering SCHs power, but i acknowledge my fault and continue.
Now i will describe the SCH a bit more, he was undergeared (i120 stuff) and thought it was his first healer, but when i looked him up later on Lodestone he had WHM at 60, seemed weird to me that he would throw away lvling gear when he didn't have all at 60, but okay...
2nd try, stuff goes sort of normal, for some reason, the SCH wasn't dpsing AT ALL, so i decided to do it instead since it helps a lot in the phase with all the butterflies. So he yells at me for dpsing, even though everyone's hp was fine. I turn off CS and he doesn't dps... Everything goes smooth for a bit. Then for some reason people start taking more damage, i do my usual AST stuff, casting benefic on people, using procs cooldowns and stuff, while i'm pretty sure the SCH wasn't doing much, at a certain point the tank dies and blames me. When the SCH wasn't doing anything (i was looking at his cast bars), since i was healing every party member i thought he could handle healing at least the tank, if things go bad just Lustrate spam. Anyway, battle ends, tank who died (which i ressed immediately) and SCH tell me i should "quit healing" and "that i'm the worst healer ever".
I can't even rn.
A semi-horror story. Honestly it was a great run for most of a Antitower. My tank and I had a Dragoon and a Summoner who were on point and everything was going smoothly. Then suddenly on the last boss the dragoon gets the first confusion eye marker. The summoner moved one way and I moved to stand behind the tank to clear the whole left side for the Dragoon to stand on. He instead jumps and lands right between me and the tank, hitting us all with the confusion debuff. Adding insult to injury, both the tank and him go for me while confused and wipe me out before the effect wears off. Thankfully the Summoner was ready and got me up and all my mp cooldowns were ready but we spent the rest of the fight accusing the Dragoon of being a murderer. XD Really though its the kind of horror story I actually can laugh about and it was all good fun.
Edit: I totally did mean antitower. SHHH
Semi-horror:
Back when the Aery was still on the more difficult side (the group was all about 130/125-ish), wound up with a tank who tried to speed run. Pulled every mob up until the first barrier and the resulting squish was like doing a step-dance on a river of beetles.
Popped every possible spell I could on AST at that level and got lucky with Boles and Ewers.
Afterwards there was an awkward silence before the tank said, "Well, let's never do that again."
