Dang I had the exact opposite experience in ARF for mentor roulette this morning. Got a sch, mnk, and blm. I pulled everything. The poor sch started out in CS and had to switch pretty quickly to keep me alive. But, that BLM burned everything to the ground and it was quick and easy eso.

Just got out of an ST with a premade of Mentors who were on classes instead of jobs. They spent the whole run voking bosses and avoiding mechanics (not doing fire/ice, trying to knock people back with explosions in Amon, not stacking on the last boss, ect). Happily just reported every single one of them.

Just had a fun experience.

Helped my wife with an unsynced tam tara for her 5 dungeons challenge, then later on decided to do midas 2. f course i forgot to untick tam tara and of course it popped immediately. i wasn't paying attention so I joined without looking.

I did the dungeon since i didn't want to be an ass, but the dps at the end really didn't understand what invulnerable meant when they were hitting the last boss!! At least one of them listened when I kept telling them to kill the imps

So, I was healing Dzemael and the BLM and MNK got into an argument. Basically, the BLM was making fun of the MNK, laughing at her, saying she was going to tell all of her friends about what they were arguing about (what they were arguing about isn't important, and it was pretty personal, so I probably shouldn't say what it was). We get to the final boss and they're still arguing. The tank and I basically tell them to quit their arguing so we can finish this, then as soon as the boss is dead, the BLM says "[MNK's name] I hope you die from cancer."

Naturally, I reported her. I'm just speechless. I felt so bad for that MNK. She didn't do anything to deserve it. She wasn't being rude to the BLM in the first place, so I don't know what the BLM's problem was...

Geez, I half wonder if you were paired with the same guy from TheCarnivalGuy's Halitali run. I really don't understand why people think it's acceptable to tell someone to commit suicide or to die a horrible death.

Just had a run through A6 as a scholar. Apparently, dark knights think tank swapping there is redundant, because neither of them seemed to think that they needed to provoke the second or fourth boss off the other when stacks got high enough. Managed to keep the MT alive until 7 stacks through sheer luck with well-timed critlos, before finally landing a non-crit, and the tank eating the floor to stack #8; the BRD tanks it for the rest. On the fourth boss, I was unable to crit stack #6, tank dies, OT picks it up, they die to stack #5; and again the BRD tanks the rest of it (good job, bard!).

Sadly, that was run number... approximately 24 today, and still no luck with getting my loot :/

This seems to be a thing in general since I've come back after 3.2. I usually swap regardless even if people think they don't need to. Its like the act of tank swapping has become a plague to people who don't wanna deal with mechanics. I've experienced the same thing with A5 when I get concussion and the other tank won't voke, and A8 its the same situation with perpetual ray. Its pretty much the entirety of midas you could be in this situation. Can A5/7/8 be handled without a swap? sure, but most healers worth their weight would rather not deal with big spikes like that, especially if they're trying to dps.

It just seems like such a simple thing to do and there's such an aversion to doing it :/

Not just tank swaps. Its everything.
Tanks: not using CDs, not swapping
Healers: not dpsing but still people are dying (and also never use their special skills like assize indom..)
Dps: lvl 50 tier dps

So I suggest you just do midas norm for the easy pieces (accs, gloves, hat, shoes, belt) and get crafted or lore chest and pants, depending on whats better/budget.
The sooner you stop doing midas norm the more sane you will be.

I was informed the other day after tank swapping in A8 that I was an idiot and its 'normal' not to now and has been for months. Well aside from the fact I've only started doing it two weeks ago so have been learning from other tanks, most of which have tank swapped happily, the real irony was the final swap before phase 2 I opted to leave him to it rather than face another grilling which left him dead on the floor so I had to go into the second phase tanking both robots >.< nice one.

Now I just make sure i MT it so if they want to swap they can initiate it which I'm totally happy for them to do, if not I'll go heavy on the CDs and keep my fingers crossed the healers are ready.

Ultimately if someone has an expectation outside of the designed mechanics I wish they'd just say before hand -.-

Personally, I've never really felt the need for a swap in A7 (with proper cooldown use, a PLD - or, at least, my PLD - barely notices the damage). A8 I've grown accustomed to tanks not swapping (having been doing it that way for well over a month), and as of a week ago, I've finally managed to figure out how to survive the A5 tankbuster if the OT doesn't care to take it (this has started happening to me more and more recently P: ). This is the first time I've ever seen anyone not swap in A6 though, and having been through up to 5 stacks as a PLD after the OT died to Single Buster or Ultra Flash and doing everything in my power to survive it, I don't really think that's possible without a SCH getting really lucky with a critlo before each stack; a tank only has so many cooldowns they can pop, and the rate of the tankbusters in A6 burns them up remarkably quickly.

Last night a friend and I were in Aleport and answered a random shout from a sprout archer who needed Sastasha. I was on pld, my friend drg'd and we got a scholar through the DF. The run was going smooth and so after the first Rambade I pulled two packs in the next room, upon which the scholar commented how he finally was able to do his job because there was actually something to heal. So I made sure to pull double packs when possible throughout the rest of the dungeon and he seemed happy with it. With the archer aoe'ing as much as possible it started going very fast after that, and between that and the banter amongst the four of us it was one of the most fun runs I've had in a while.

Ex roulette as a WHM. Antitower pops. Normal hellos from everyone. We go to first pull. I give 1-2 seconds put cure+regen on tank, cleric stance and start my usual Holy spam.
I noticed after the second Holy the adds turning "yellow -orange" on the party frame."Fine" i think, i stop my Holy, switch of cleric, and decide to wait to help tank and just cast the usual cure when needed.
The thing is adds leave tank and start attacking one of the dps. I think dps did the same and just gave a few seconds.
Tank grabbed them again and Eventually they die. No one says anything we just go through the portal to the next adds. In my mind i was thinking "ok its gonna be a bit slow but fine".When we get to the next adds we noticed tank didnt follow, check party frame and see next to tanks name the red signal. And then he went....Ragequit... No chat nothing....I make a remark in chat regarding what happened and both dps were the same... Noticing tank inability to hold adds but noone had said anything.

(cont) We give a couple of minutes but no new tank comes. I give the suggestion to start going while we wait for tank.We did the whole antitower 3 men without the slightest problem or sweat, so so smooth. I was able to heal and dps the whole way on bosses and adds.

Kudos for those two dps. We juggled hate between us three.
Only Calcabrina last boss was a problem.Yes you know what....The tankbuster attack. Even timing a stoneskin before it either to myself or the two dps.. It still was a 1 hit kill.
One of the dps asked for a guildie tank to come and we killed her... But almost did all antitower 3 men between random ppl... Just that only mechanic...A shoutout for those two dps (i forget the classes) and...

Yeah still dont know about that tank... Ehhehe (had to shorten a lot - nr characters)

Not necessarily a ragequit - could have been a genuine connection failure. If the connection was deteriorating before failing entirely, that might explain the tank's inability to hold aggro as well.

Yep you do make sense. It could have been. The whole time tank was moving and doing abilities though, so it gave me the sensation of a quit, but Im not sure. But this situation gave me the oportunity to 3-man antitower. It was a nice change from the usual. Just a shame the tankbuster of calcabrina :D

I've only done Midas a few times, but here's my take on tank swapping in there:

A5 I've only been told to not swap once (by a PLD). That tankbuster just hits too hard in current gear to not swap in most cases.

A6 I think my very first time in back on Malboro the other tank didn't want to swap. Since I've been on Gilgamesh, we always swap.

A7 I've found that here most other tanks prefer to MT and not swap due to the tank jail mechanic. I don't mind, since I find that mechanic easy to handle.

A8, it's been about 50/50 whether the MT wants me to provoke after perp ray as OT. If I'm MT'ing in there, I pop a CD for it just in case.

Myself? I'm geared enough that I could handle solo tanking with proper CD usage and a competent healer. Do I want to? Not really.

I've tested it a few times & I'm PRETTY sure the a5 Tankbuster does 90%ish hp of the max hp NO MATTER WHAT on the debuffed Tank & only adlo/noct can mitigate as I've tried rampart to no avail & even when the tanks had low max hp, they'd always survive with 1-2k.

I'm having the absolute worst luck with DPSers in roulettes this week. It's not that they aren't grasping their overly complicated rotations or anything because I get that and it doesn't really bother me all too much. What does bother me is when I do a big pull and NO ONE AOES. How do you fail at spamming ONE button?!

I hate spanish speaking players who run their mouths about people and think its ok because nobody will know what they are saying on an american server. Not all spanish players. But just the ones who do what I'm describing. Funny enough. A lot of public schools teach spanish now-a-days and they have made tons of translators to aid the common american. SOOOOOO, I just reported some people. :P

Went to midas burden of son to get the midas shaft yesterday. It was pretty hectic in there. Debuffs and more debuffs. Tank 1 one hit KO by tank buster. Just as Tank 1 raised, Tank 2 dies. Half of dps on the ground. We win but it was funny to watch.

When my internet connection blips out (PlayStation Limitations are being able to keep a stable connection to the internet, it seems) the whole battle will freeze except effects on the other players around me, and myself. I can poke these static ‘dummies’ with my pointy stick, however combos will not proc. I look over to my other half’s screen and to him all looks fine. All attacks I press go through except since they aren’t ‘combo’d’ they aren’t hitting as hard as they are supposed to. It’ll be like that for as long as a minute before I eventually DC. I had a spike like this before when tanking, and if your combos aren’t going through, you aren’t really generating enmity. So yeah, it might be what happened, or it was just a tantrum throwing tank. I guess we’ll never know~ ;)

On the subject of tanks. Had a very special case last night in M2.
A standard spam of Midas with a couple from my FC for loot to help gear up our alt classes was cut surprisingly short.
The barrier goes down and we get the newb message, seconds later, I see our darling tank die. Yup. He died to the first set of trash. I assumed the newbie message was for him, so our friend took over as MT for the trash and we continue on to the set of bosses. A quick look showed the ‘new’tank was fairly geared. Lore head, body and legs with the odd Eso piece so I hoped for at least a little competence.

Now, I have no idea if this was a troll tank or just unusually inexperienced, but it was quite possibly the worst run of M2 I have ever experienced. Whenever he had hate over the boss, he was kiting it around for a while before planting it in an AoE of some kind. Great. Thanks. I can’t hit the flank with him sitting in a pool of lava...
I don’t know how many times this tank died, but given the stress my Ast buddy was showing after the run, it was easily more than 4 times (excluding that sudden death in the start). The real icing on the cake was early in and after a raise. He ran up to resume attacking the boss, however, rather than run to the left of the boss where there was loads of free space, he ran to the right, squeezing himself between the boss and a mine (how he didn’t set it off I don’t know).

Finally, after a few dozen deaths from the tank and DPS thanks to lost aggro on tank-death, we win. And who is there watching the CS? The blm! Now I’m not sure if the tank was fresh to the place and just skipped the cut scene, but still. It was awful for this early into the week. I dread to think what Sunday and Monday DF will be like if it’s this bad already...

I've been trying on and off since December (when my WHM hit 60) to get the Hive Cane from Ravana. Going in with DF, naturally, totems were rather slow going, and when I finally did get to 10, I had to spend it on a weapon for my NIN, who hit 60 shortly after. Since then, I've been doing the odd run now and then working towards getting them for the cane. It goes without saying that in my 17 cleared runs so far, the cane has not dropped.

I tried again yesterday to get totems 5 - 10. The cane still did not drop, but on the second run - probably my fifth go on EX since the patch - a whistle came up! I'd actually completely forgotten about the mount until that point, and just rolled as a matter of course. Being completely disinterested, naturally, I won the roll.

So here I am. Over a hundred attempts, 17 clears and a LANNER WHISTLE later, and still no cane. What even is RNG

Just landed in Aetherochemical Research Facility for level 60 roulette as a BLM. As soon as the gate drops, tank types "nope", and runs to the exit. WHM quickly asks, "what is it with tanks lately who don't wanna tank? like do you enjoy wasting people's time?". Tank stops at the exit, giving me enough time to comment "Two BLMs and a WHM, trash is going to burn.". He responds, "it better", pops Grit, and runs forward.

We proceed to utterly annihilate the trash and down the bosses in record time. 20 minutes in, and we're out.

Roulette trial gave me Titan HM. Well, I not died more since bought new video card, but today Landslide hit me. Fortunately was at the end of the fight and party won.
After this I remembered be with torrent active downloading hentai game. So today hentai killed me with delay XD
ADSL 2 mbps here. It is kamikaze to do download and to play online at the same time.

I have a Titan HM story as well, though it doesn't have to do with hentai.

I'm pretty good at avoiding Landslides, not getting hit by one since my first attempt. But one run I did, through the roulette, I got hit by one. But it wasn't exactly my fault... I was Gaoled and was freed right as his Landslide came down. It was hilarious.

It kept happening all day in all my roulettes as a NIN and BRD. We'd stop, seem like a good time to Doton/Fire Arrow and the tank would move.

As a WHM who abuses regens through Asylum only to have everyone move out of it for some inexplicable reason, I feel your pain.

I tell him I have Cleric in my first slot, but to rest assured that Eos could easily handle the situation even without Protect. He gave me a bit of lip about it and then he said, "Fine heal this" and proceeded to pull EVERYTHING up to the dog that drops the key. We have a DRG and ACN so basically nothing dies and Eos and I eventually run out of buffs and I run out of MP sooo the tank dies (we lasted a long time, though). "We could have lived through that if we had had protect" he says. I highly doubt it, but before I can reply I get vote kicked.

Queue up again and get Tam-Tara. This Tank isn't a Mentor, but he too asks for Protect. I once again reassure him we'll be fine and off we go. This run goes perfectly fine.

But honestly in the level 15 dungeon, you could have swapped protect and cleric around in their slots, would only have took 30 secs for the cooldown to come around.

Don't think cleric is really necessary at that point.

I actually just did a levelling roulette with a friend and ended up with two sprouts and they both asked could I swap my cleric out for protect and I complied and didn't really suffer on the damage front.

I hate the tanks that fail to realise... just how LITTLE protect does in those pre-20 dungeons. Any Healer that takes Protect over Cleric's as their #1 is just honestly bad in my book (Though they probably don't think about it - it took me a while when I was new to think of it, too :P)
