Gardening - Harvesting

I've been trying to make a supply of Curiel Roots and before this patch I was producing them with Krakka Roots > Chamomile = Curiel Roots to get them. However I just noticed that I lost an entire week of gardening because instead of completing in 3 days it too 5 and they all yielded me Pearl Ginger Roots instead. Does this change actually work in the players benefit at all because I feel like I've been royally screwed? I'm trying out some other combinations since all of a sudden I'm hearing such possibilities of getting 9 seeds from a single harvest.

Is there some order I have to do differently to get Krakka Roots > Chamomile to get said Curiel Roots or should I just find a newer better combo?

You just had bad luck.

When they cross its plain 50:50 chance on what you get. That combination will either get you Curiel Seeds or Ginger Seeds. It doesn't really matter if you use Chamomile or Popotos to cross with the Krakka for Curiel. The chance to get it will be the same. To get the 9 seeds at once you'll need to use G3 Shroud Soil tho - which is an even bigger roulette - chances should be ~ 6% for the right seed to get out then, while Thanalan Soil should provide steady 50%.

I've gotten much better results for Curiel Roots from Krakka Root and Mirror Apple seeds.

Ive got roughly 60-75% crossed curiel using Krakka + chamomile

Krakka/Almond, plant with Shroud soil. Less chance of actually getting a cross but when it happens you get 9x seeds.

What would be a good way to produce almonds? Once you have enough do you have to self sustain them? Would it be quicker to just buy them or do you gather them yourself?

Buy em. The soil probably costs more than the almond seeds

Gather them once, use BTN retainer to get them whenever needed. Change one of your retainers if you don't have one.

I simply gather them myself, a small time investment of 30min usually gets enough to last a while.

And like Seravi mentions, if you have a BTN retainer you can send them out as well.

Oh wow I wasn't aware BTN retainers could bring them back! And here I was going to turn one of my 3 BTN retainers to a miner! Guess ill scratch that lol
