I’ve been in FFXIV since the 1.0 days (legacy), however, even though I am actually quite sociable and talkative when around others, for the most part I have been a lone wolf for most of my time in FFXIV. The only times I will usually be seen with other players is when I am helping new players or friends with their content, asides from that I usually just rely on duty finder to get most things done.

Now, the server I was from is a legacy server, and for some reason most legacy players there seem to have inherited a certain… elitist, grind-until-you-drop mentality. Even in the central hubs where most people gathered, you’d be hard pressed to see anything asides from shouts to do this trial or that fate, or this hunt or that dungeon. Barely, if any, social interaction. Which might have contributed to me sticking mostly to myself.

My wife watches me play once in a while, and apparently, she noticed that I often ran into people playing together, or even the random couple sitting together. So one day she asked:

“How come that I never see you running around with your own “catgirl” (I’m a Miqo’te) to keep you company while you play?”

So I turned around, with what was probably the dumbest, most puzzled look on my face to look at her, thinking to myself “Did she just suggest… ok”

And she continued on: “What? I hate video games, so you will probably never get to play games like these with me. So, I don’t mind if you do find someone to spend your in-game time with, as long as that’s all it is.”

So basically, back to the beginning of the post. I am married in real life, but:

Now that that is out of the way, here we go:

Personal Interests: Outdoors (anything), video games, tabletop RPGs, computers and technology, Music/TV/Movies and quite a few others.
Personal Traits: kind, helpful, flirty (lol), friendly, honest, straightforward and blunt.
Play Schedule: Eastern Timezone, Tue-Fri 6pm-12am, Sat 6pm-whenever, Sun-Mon anytime during the day or night. Note that these can change depending on RL responsibilities.
What Kind of Gamer Are You: Eh, tough one. I like grinding and getting content cleared just as much as the next person, but I also enjoy sitting around chatting, or going sightseeing (I like finding nice places), and helping anyone that might need it, whether new or old. I dislike doing things when they are not fun, so I will often switch back and forth between grinding and just lazing about. (I would say I spend more time just hanging around than grinding)
Character Gender: Male
Player Gender: Male
Do you care if the player in real life is not the same as their character? Yes. My character is an extension of the real me, so I would be uncomfortable going around with a guy (no offense, dudes!)
Character Race: Miqo’te
Preferred Race: Au’Ra, Miqo’te, Elezen, Hyur
Main Class: Warrior
Dislikes: Elitists, dishonest people, people that belittle others, unsavory behavior, hunting for aether currents, mean people, liars, and anything along those lines.
Goals for the Game: Have as much fun as possible. Simple.
Goals for the Marriage Union: To be honest, I'm not all that interested in a game marriage, although I'm not entirely opposed to it. Also, I'm not really interested in being all flirty and such right off the bat, or rather, I wouldn't want it to be a forced thing. I'd very much prefer to meet someone, have a few chats, share some adventures and see if we'd make a good in-game pair. If the "flirty" happens right away, great, if not, that's also great. All I ask if that you be yourself and nothing more, nothing less. Let's say that two strangers meet at a local gathering place... (I'm usually hanging around Quicksands seeing what everyone is up to).

What if her character is male by the way?

One last thing, your play time is many hours, but just one job past 50?

His wife asked why he doesn't have a catgirl friend but I don't think she meant
he should find a catgirl who's also girl IRL so that he may flirt with...

If people are fine with peoples descriptions I guess it's okay.

Let's see, let's take it one by one:

-Exactly as you stated, I really don't care much for it. Or rather, like I said in my post, it could or could not happen, I won't really mind either way. As for the second part of that sentence, my wife watches me play "once in a while" which is actually quite rare considering, as I stated further on, she despises video games in all forms.

-I hadn't considered that idea, to be honest so I am not sure how to answer it. Perhaps I will get back to it later.

-My schedule is pretty open, however my playtime isn't exactly "many hours". I have taken a few breaks in the past, so you'd be surprised to know that I do not have that much playtime. Even so, I'm not really a grind player (also mentioned in the post), I would say about half of my playtime has been spent either lounging about (also stated), or helping new players as I see them. Additionally, I'm actually not very much into other jobs. Tanking is my calling, and preferably Warrior (in this case) or Paladin. I love playing Warrior, and it's probably the only class that cannot bore me in any way. This has always been the case. Here in FFXIV, in FFXI (although I was also a Paladin there), and any other MMO I have played. You could actually call me narrow minded in that aspect!

-Lastly, I noticed you actually called out a guy earlier for "hiding his marriage". Since I have no interest in doing so, I have made my post as clear and honest as possible. So tell me.. which is it? Do you hate the honest ones, the ones that hide it, or you just have something against it in general? Personally, I am only interested in an in-game thing, but I get the feeling you're taking it beyond those limits and somewhat personal to you.

Well Mik, this might actually surprise you, but I did actually ask what she meant. Specifically she said I can flirt and do as I wish, for she does not mind it. Once again, as long as it's limited to the confines of the game world.

But again, she can be a strange one, we're talking about someone who IRL asks me to "look at that girl over there and how pretty she is".

And again, I could've chosen to simply hide the fact, but I have no reason to.

And friendly warnings are great, however I assure you, there is nothing to be "warned" about. It is as I wrote it, take it or leave it. Makes me wonder if finding this thread was a mistake after all. Hmm.

You know what Final... You are a bit hopeless. Plenty of posts in these 791 pages who are not interested in the in-game marriage. Sigh. Additionally, there are also plenty of people here that are actively using this as an RL dating thread, which it's not. I believe I stated specifically that I do not have any interest of it going outside the game. Believe it or not, some people can actually stick to their in-game personas specifically. But that's just me, I think it's more hopeless posting here if you don't actually care to much about the wedding, that's my point really, you said it after all.

By the way you might want to list your age or does it not matter chatting on a third-party service, I think it might, just some thought.

I just find it strange a married woman thinks her husband should be flirting with anyone on the internet, and her husband is only interested in finding a female to do dungeons with, as the marriage in-game isn't the focus.

And one last point, Discord is a third-party text/voice service, that's not an in-game feature, it's out of game.
