Halatali HM.
Shield Lob, run past to get a second group. One mob groups up. Start the AoE. Waiting. Waiting. Okay, here comes the bard again at 10% health sprinting past me with 2 mobs at 60-ish % chasing him.
You can't fix stupid.

Did msq roulette on my WAR last night. Was 2nd on Nero as MT...using auto attack.
Did 2.5 times the dps of my OT...
My friend got Halatali nm for his levelling roulette, soon after asked me to join in-progress as tank since the original one left. So i go drk, zone in, they just cleared the first boss, healer does not know how to proceed to the next area. Good start. Check his info. Level 60 cnj/whm, level 15 arcanist, no other classes levelled and completely new to the dungeon. Full i250 crafted gearset.
I start pulling, do some Unleash and then...Fluid Aura. Every. Single. Time that it's up. Friend tells me that the previous tank left since the healer would not stop knocking enemies back, even when agreeing to stop. Plus he stands with me in front of enemies and remaining bosses. Luckily there are no real frontal aoes in there.
We honestly didn't know if the guy was just bad, trolling or had bought his character, but it kinda felt like a glimpse of what jump potions might result in...
Weeping City. Final boss... WHM/SCH healer combo. My co-healer (the WHM) dies... she then proceeds to respawn to the beginning. She's in voice chat with me. I try to go full zen so I can soloheal my party while getting a never-ending barrage of "Sorry!" - which stops my zen. Somehow I did it and we persevere. She was the 3rd person I kept track of to do it that run too, the respawning back at the beginning instead of accepting the ress. What a palava. Plus wipes at Ozma!
I just want to boast a little bit, is that okay? x)
Okay! Lately, I entered leveling roulette on my MNK. Got Cutter's Cry in progress, with an AST and one BLM but no tank.
They were right after the first boss and - based on the conversation - had appearently kicked their tank because he only pulled one mob at a time
(I mean, that would still be infinitely faster than sitting around endlessly waiting for a new tank, but who am I to judge..)
Aaaaanyway..! We decided to try and press on a bit without a tank.
Since the biggest group was 3 monsters at once, I thought that shouldn't be too bad, everyone takes one monster, something like that..
Well, let's just say the BLM didn't attack anything at all but just ran away, the AST too while I damned my lack of ranged attacks trying to hunt them down.
BLM was also not aware of the existance of Scathe, which would have made the whole "running around without casting" thing a bit more useful. Needless to say, we wiped.
After some explanations of my "masterful strategy" of actually fighting things, we actually made it to the second boss.
So I threw on Fists of Earth, coss-classed some defensive cooldowns and became the tank :)
Despite the utter lack of trust they had in my tanking capabilities, it worked out easily, and right as the mini-boss dropped, an actual tank joined.
The other two immidiately told him about their horrible first tank that didn't pull enough and the tank replied with something along the lines of
"Oh you don't have to worry about that with me.." which, for some inexplicable reason, made alarm bells ring in the back of my head.
Tank ran to first group of that long, looooong corridor leading up to the final boss with the horrible poison slimes, I started punching things......and then he started sprinting away.
Oh god.
Of course, I followed, as he literally pulled EVERY SINGLE MOB on the entire way to the boss room and only stopped with that giant jumbled mess right on Chimera's doorstep.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love big pulls when
- I'm the healer
- I have access to most of my toolset
- the monsters are not the type to stack like SEVEN SEPERATE POISONS ON THE TANK x__x
The healer actually did an outstanding job to keep the tank up for like..15 seconds, during which the entire group was CONSTANTLY SPINNING as the tank kept on running in circles
(oh boohoo, poor little MNK wanting to hit positionals, I know :p) before, ultimately, the tank died, and the healer died, and the BLM died too <3
I survived though, with the help of Fists of Earth, the tank cooldowns as well as all the MNK evasion and Chakra and pots from PotD (and the decision to stand a bit aside so I only had to deal with 3 monsters at once).
I had finished up by the time the others returned and we killed the mobs that had went back to their positions and proceeded to the boss.
Just to make sure, I quickly went over the strategy again and we started. First dragon AoE - healer got hit. Did not heal himself.
Second dragon AoE - healer died. Tank did the quick "meh, healer is dead so this is not gonna work out anyways"-suicide, stood in ram AoE and returned to the entrance.
But, once again, I didn't want to give up there, so I returned to my tank stance and cooldown/pot management
(which honestly wasn't even that hard since Chimera is 90% evadable skills and only 10% direct hits anyway) and a little while later, the BLM and I killed it :o
I'm just an amazing MNK tank :p
(what, I warned you I'd be boasting xD)
Just tried Shiva extreme for the first time in a Duty Finder group. It was pretty painful.
One person said it was their first time. There was no communication. No coordination. No mechanic explanation. Nothing.
Tank kept making silly mistakes. He eventually admitted he was having trouble focusing and that he hadn't done the fight in a while.
Our BLM was pretty much always dead.
Every time I had Hailstorm on me, one or two of the other DPS would always follow me.
It was just bad. We had a 15% echo buff before the group finally vote abandoned...
Well this is my first time posting here but I like to lurk on this thread & read all the stories.
Last night I had Gubal HM for my expert roulette & had a DRK, SCH & DRG (i was on BLM) now the DRK & SCH were fine but the DRG never once used Heavy Thrust, only used BotD once per trash pull & not at all on bosses. They would blow BotD on Geirskogul & never use any fourth combo skill to increase the timer.
A few nights ago I got the same dungeon for expert & this time the issue came from the tank (PLD tank this time) & they would pull the bosses with Provoke & then try to move the boss before even trying to use their aggro combo. Wasn't really an issue with the first two bosses but the last boss was chewing on my face after my first fire IV with quelling up. Got no heals & proceeded to drop after manawall fell off since the tank couldn't Provoke the boss back.
