VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

I won't change, cuz baby boy, but I really wish at least the AF gear would work. I know, PCT doesn't look like fits with Hrothgars, but I still wanna use the hat!!

Just wish they were more open about it

Still not seeing any sign of more hat accessibility or Hairstyles for both Viera and Hrothgar. I think it's beyond time for those exclusive hairstyles. At this point, I expect exclusive hats since female Hrothgar are coming.

These changes should happen during the course of Dawntrail if they aren't coming on launch. Also please stop trying to hide the fact that this isn't being addressed in marketing. We know what you're doing when you guys try to be semi-transparent on whether or not we're getting hats.

I am 100% okay with looking goofy with this post if we can wear more hats from the past and new ones on DT launch.

For the record, the page is currently saying "no hat for monk" but it's actually just a ribbon piece on the back and I've seen it working in other videos.

They had also initially incorrectly listed WHM and DNC as not working, but that was corrected before the link was shared here.

Seriously though, I've been tired of "looking forward to it" since I realized I can't wear the Welkin hat back when viera was first added to the game and fast forward to 2024 there's still no update several years later... It's also beyond annoying at this point that they STILL keep making NEW headgear viera/hroth can't wear. It truly can't be that difficult to fix so we could actually glamour properly...

It doesn't come from anywhere in particular, but at times it feels like SE is so focused on this idea that "if we fix this, we have to fix it ALL at once" that they ignore the fact that simply doing nothing instead comes off as looking much worse...?

Adding in the ability for Viera and Hrothgar to wear all hats moving forward, even if all past hats were still unwearable until they went back and fixed them, would be a sign of progress and I think would give a lot of us much more hope than the near-zero hope we currently have. But instead, it feels like they're holding themselves to this standard where if they can't fix it all at once, it's not a priority, because it would seem half-baked.

Which just results in them doing nothing, and they don't even bother to give frequent assurances. Instead, it's one comment about how they're "totally working on it, please believe us with zero evidence" every three years, if we're lucky. The most in-game "proof" we got that they're even aware of the issue was the Fall Guys rewards, where we got shrunken miniature versions of the crossover's hats - and they didn't even bother ever talking about that anywhere.

Not having AF hats work is bad form.
And where the hell are the exclusive hairstyles to compensate us for this?
I'll even take some hairstyles with bolted on headgear if it means more variety.

Not too add to much fuel to the fire but based on the press tour, there appears to be a male miqo NPC who has the male viera hairstyle.
They better not be considering porting our hairstyles to other races before we even get all of the mogstation glams and hairstyles.

That is just a trick they use to make some NPCs more unique from the player models.

It's also why this no named background Hrothgar can add some salt because he is using another face's hairstyle.

And it still feels like rubbing salt on a wound to see it. As grateful as I am for getting the universal hairstyles, I would still rather have the racial hairstyles made to fit a Hrothgar head specifically, than plop a 'one size fits all' wig they don't even do a quality check on and call it a day.

I know they put some other priorities like the Graphics Update, but even M.Viera and F.Hroth came later and still cannot use hats??

Maybe they want to do it all in once, or maybe QA is nagging on them. But there's no real reason to not have it. If they hired someone back when ShB launched, and taught them how to model, I'm sure today we'd have most if not all working.

It's tiring, really.

We have 3 choices here.

1. Create hat-versions of the racial hairstyles and viera ear-friendly versions of hats that require it
2. Every new headpiece is either a circlet, hair clip, fascinator, mask, eyepatch, glasses, or some kind of smooth shape that fully hides your hair.
3. Or a mix of styles, where they just don't display any helms with odd shapes or hats that require a secondary hair model.

They seem to be determined for 3, though supposedly they might be working on 1??????

They also like to randomly put non-viera females in viera female cpose 3... Gaia, Random Event npcs, the Tataru Boutique vendor in a Grand endeavor cutscene, Y'shtola.

And now coming for a hairstyle from the males..

The Viera mimicry is getting worse.

Plus that means that amidst the undertaking that is the graphical update someone has deigned to develop viera male hair for a catboi and stuff him in the world. Kind of misspent resources when you consider all the broken things in the benchmark across the board.

Did the Dragon Quest event, foolishly thinking that the helmet would act like the Chocobo head..nope.

I'll never switch from Viera, but it's frustrating for them to not even put in the slightest effort for us.

Understand, if you're viera 1 pixel clipping through a hat would cause a calamity.

If you check some videos about BRD, you can see the new AF weapon clips with a woman /cpose too, so it's not a big deal...

Then that's even sillier they use clipping as an excuse for us not being able to use the headgear. They seem to have different standards for viera than anyone else when it comes to gear.

Also the fact that there were exactly 0 questions in the media tour about this and 0 update on this other than an unofficial off-hand comment about "please be patient" really makes me think they're trying to see how long they can put it off before viera players get angry enough to make it a priority.

Idk, it isnt enough to make me stop playing the game, which I guess is the only insentive there is for SE to fix this, that they lose costumers. They sell fantasias for the simple fact that people go viera for a while and then tire. So...they will not change anything. For me, it is about transparency. I just want them to be up front of WHEN they will be done with hats, if ever. "Working on it" is tiring. "Working on it" means more people will fantasia back and forth in hopes of the next expansion and so on.

We already had an NPC in post-endwalker raids using Male Viera hair 1.

Throwing in my support boost as a Viera to give me the cash shop content I have paid for AT THE LEAST. There is zero excuse to not allow content we have paid outside of the subscription costs to be available on all races. (Items bought before their convenient "may not work on all races" messaging.)

Also, all AF gear should work on everyone. It's a part of the Final Fantasy brand. Again, I don't feel like there is an excuse. Krile's Mogstation Costume "hat" in the game changes your hairstyle to match hers and that part is dyeable so you can still look like YOU if you equip it (it also hides ears!). If they can do that, I don't see why they can't do that for other jobs/special hats.

Also, we were told we would get special new Viera hairstyles to make up for lack of hats, but have yet to get that.

The amount of worship SE and YoshiP get for breadcrumbing is beyond ridiculous.

i'd like to be able to use the cloud hair i won from a contest and some of the cash shop hairs. im guessing not but did anyone ask about hrothgar/viera hats?

I may just fantasia to Hyur with my free Fantasia. I will admit, I knew what I was signing up for when I fantasiad to Viera, but it is inexcusable that the new hats are not Viera/Hrothgar compatible.

I was also thinking Roe, but the bulkier races tend to get shafted in the fashion department with how poorly some glams fit.

Please look forward to years of adding "2 new viera hairs that other races can already use" for another 2 years or so. They consider that a patch "feature" that should be stretched out through expansions just for marketing purposes. I doubht it really takes 4+ years to port these hairs.

Still waiting for a mention about Hrothgar hunchback adjustment which was given as player feedback since Shadowbringers release. With Female Hrothgar being able to stand and move around without a hunchback, it makes no sense to not adjust male Hrothgar's posture now. Or provide a toggle for it.

if they EVER touch it, I hope we still have some KIND of hunchback, just not as a strong, I like it and I've seen people using the normal "straight" back thing and... its hideous really, I like the way it is or at least keep a bit hunched if they ever change that

I am still waiting on the yshtola hair and the minfilia hair. Had them for years now. Ofcourse the modders fixed them immediately.

Mods are no solution. Not only that's it's not allowed to use them. Also every player on console isn't even able to break the rules.

I heard the the problem isn't the ears. It's the hair. They haven't adjusted this hairstyles for the headgear. That's why some helmets which hide the hair completely are wearable.

That's the neat part about toggles though, you can adjust the hunch to whatever degree meets your fancy, just as others. Of course you are perfectly fine disliking an option given to you, but that's like saying you find a specific set of Au Ra scales fugly and then hating the devs and the players using it for it, for "disrupting" your view. The only difference between this would be one adjustment would be new and one existed since the beginning.

Agreed. It's so weird every time people react to feedback with "just use an illegal tool that might cost you your account into which you maybe put a lot of money in it if anyone finds out and reports you". Like.. yes, the option exists. It doesn't make it an actual good option though, and its existence shouldn't mean we should stop giving devs our feedback about this.

Hats and helmets and more hairstyles are a feature for every single other race in this game, Hrothgar and Viera are the odd ones here. Asking for adjusting it to the bare minimum standards of other races shouldn't be brushed off with "just use illegal means".
(Also, I don't want to be pretty for myself, I want to be pretty for everyone and myself, a mod can't help with this because it only adjusts things on your end.)

At this stage I don't think its ever going to come.
Yoshi-P made that statement quite a few years ago now.. People on the forums speculate it was a mistranslation, but personally I don't believe so - It's just selective amnesia on the dev's part. I read somewhere that they said players wouldn't have to worry about losing their house, and we know what happened with that.

The closest we got to the developers addressing this situation was during the Hrothgar hairstyles/no ears backlash.
Yoshi mentioned something about them potentially receiving exclusive hairstyles which could take a while to make, but there were quite a few comments on the forums saying they don't want exclusive hairstyles - they just wanted the already existing ones in game to show their ears.. A missed opportunity for the Hrothgar players in my opinion.

I've just returned from like a 2-3 year break and seeing little to no changes to these races.. The graphics update looks good though

it's not *the* solution but it is *a* solution for when after about 5 years of feedback we get nothing but "yeah its coming". i'd be okay if the racial hair didn't work with hats or whatever since the ones added to viera already have that second hair model for when you wear hats in use for all of the other races
