I dont need an art degree to appreciate good looking pictures xD
And you havent seen his end results yet before critizing his price and art.
ReiQ would charge me 1000USD and his art isnt better imo compared to Bobbydando. I also like a lot of different looks ;)
I just didnt like your condesending tone is all. Feel free to show me works of arts you like yourself. One of my favorite artists is Faustsketcher ;)
Base his stuff from? You talking some +18 rated pics? XDDD
And Faustsketcher is already busy with other commissions of mine ;). And I just felt Bobbydandos style would look the most impressive for this type of scenario. I went through a long list before I decided who to pick. Faustsketcher is amazing. But for this I wanted someone who did details really well and to make it look pretty real.
And no worries. It just felt like you insulted my choice of art and looking down on an artist I like using and talk to. I have used him a few times since January this year and will continue to do so ^^
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;)
I'm going to chime in as a fellow artist. Obviously not as good as the others. But something does feel off in the drawing. It's something that has been bugging me since the first sketch. It's either the arm, perspective or the kneeling+twisting pose that sets something off with the entire pose. I always get the impression that his arm is too long. But otherwise it looks awesome and love the eye for detail. I honestly would leave the eyes out. It's a statue after all. And some wrinkles couldn't hurt.
And hush, we don't talk about a certain large collection of other drawings on this board lol. Even though they're awesome.
As for what's off on the sketch itself, its the front leg. His body proportions are mostly right, its just the angle and width of the front leg that seems to throw the rest of it off. its a minor fix though. Here's where the error is:

The rest is well done though. As for measuring with heads for proportions, its a good base start, but fantasy art seldom follows. It's what gives it its characteristics. You see women with incredibly long thin legs to exaggerate curves etc Just as long as you don't go overboard, its okay to bend proportions just a little bit ^^
I hope Yoshida will see your drawing (well I hope he will see all of ours at one point). Great job and hope to see the colored version soon!
Jeeez, now its kinda putting a damper on my enthusiasm for having this done. I dont mind paying for it as long as I get the look I like. Kinda wish I waited with posting this on this forum until it was finished, or even not at all and just emailed it straight to SE.
I never expect artists to work for free. I know I sure would not do so myself. And I dont know how your art looks like. I might like it, or may think it doesnt fit the content and feel of the picture.
When I hold my arms down my body, my hands are about the same place as in this picture. And in most pictures I have seen of Louisoix from the side, his legs isnt as thick as you edited.
I wont post any more updates from now on though.
yeah... i don't wanna be negative, but 300 bucks for that art, as good as it is... a tad overpriced compared to the usual commission prices.
Mind you, artists have the full right to charge what they want for their work, but...
touchy touchy.
