There's a few more to go, but unless there's a new one for everyone I think they only unlock more for V/H with x.1 x.2 x.3 patches etc.? I could be wrong though.

Through all of EW they've yet to add hairstyles to Viera/Hrothgar in .1/.5./8 patches so I'm prepared for nothing unless a new hairstyle is added for everyone. It's unfortunate because there was a long span of time between 6.5 and 6.55, but if their work order only has Viera/Hroth hairstyle updates on major patches then that's just all there is to it. There isn't really any new content being added that could drop a new universal style so I'm not hopeful on any new hairstyles this patch.
And as I predicted before, SE took absolutely none of the feedback. Benchmark is showing no Viera hats and a majority of the AF sets will not have Viera-wearable headgear.
What the fuck are they even doing? They aren't listening and it has to be on purpose at this point to keep making gear that 2 races cannot use.
Shame on all the people in this thread who said "wait until 7.0 you will get viera hats then." Well, where are they?
I'm not going to deal with this level of pedantry from a forum troll today. It was a single instance of a hat and ti was the ugly as sin tiny hats they started pushing on viera since the fall guys collab.
Every other instance of job gear in the benchmark on Viera had no headgear at all.
So, you knew there was a hat on a Viera in the benchmark, and lied about it?
Why? Why did you lie, instead of just saying "except a hat we already have"?
With one little tiny word (e.g. "no new Viera hats") you could have told the truth. But you didn't.
So who's the forum troll here? The liar, or the one sticking to the truth?
I didn't lie, this is what I mean about you being an overly pedantic forum troll. You konw what I meant, you know what this thread has been about for 2 years now, yet you try to come up with some dumbass gotcha to imply that people are lying for giving feedback you personally dont agree with.
See earlier in this thread where every time issues were brought up about lack of headgear or hairstyle issues, people would jump to SE's defense saying "It's gonna come in the graphics update don't worry".
It was the most popular way to shut down criticism over the last 2 years about ithe issues with viera and hrothgar.
Literally no one I know in game and out of game has even heard of this. I am on the Reddit a LOT. My guess is you specifically noticed this every time it came up because it upset you.
Honestly, just ignore those people. It's just rumors. No need to give them the time of day.
Viera hats/hair came up in a Q&A a few months ago and Yoshi P's response was basically "Soon" so I think people hoped/coped (myself included) that something would happen in DT. Honestly, it's pretty damn baffling that the races that you gotta basically pay to be are treated like a second thought. Doubly so when you see cash shop items that have hats that come with fine print "will not work with viera or hrothgar".
I really hope tiny hats aren't the solution. Just let my friggen ears clip if I wanna lol
I really dislike the tiny hat options we get. When I saw the tiny scholar hat that the viera was wearing in the benchmark my first thought was simply..."ok Im done...Im using my free fantasia and going another race". It just looked soooo silly.
I mean do we know if the other races aren't getting the fascinator hat too?
I do hope that's not their solution to the hat problem since m*dders have already done a wonderful job converting full sized hats to accommodate for the ears :x
(yes yes, I know independent hobbyists vs studio limitations, but boo to that!)
Funny enough that argument only makes it worse because if 1 person can do it within a few hours of spare time, what's stopping an actual company with multiple staff members that are far more versed in the game's ins and outs. The fact it's been almost 5 years at this point isn't embarrassing, it's insulting.
My main complaint is gonna stay the same:
I understand porting every single hat in the game can be an issue or too much work (even though it literally isn't....)
But at the VERY LEAST, the Mogstation/Other Paid Hats should be added to Viera and Hroth no questions asked.
People paid 70$ for an artbook, got the Matoya hat, and they can't wear that on Viera or Hroth? Ridiculous.
Even worse, third party tools allow these hats (and all hats, really) to be used without issue.
So, what is the excuse for that? SE can't do it, but some modder can have it fixed by themself? Hmmm...
The excuse I keep reading is that SE has to "account for quality" so it is a bigger undertaking than doing what "shallow work" that modders do. Idk. If they can have someone sitting there modifying peoples facial features in the benchmark so everyone gets lipfillers I don't see why one person cant find a couple of hours per year to just give us at least the mogstation hats....and hairs...Still waiting on minfilia and yshtola hair....
Just here to add that female Hrothgar have WAY to few Hairstyle choices and that they are AGAIN locked to Faces. This already was a mistake on the Male Hrothgar but doing it again on the Females shows that they did not listen to this very valid criticism.
It's not that they didn't learn or made the same mistake. They do listen it's just that they didn't want to fix the male Hrothgar's racial hairstyles yet, so they limited both genders.
While making female Hrothgar they knew if they didn't limit their racial hairstyles, it could be used on them like. "Why are the female Hrothgar not locked but the males still are?"
So, by logic it's better to purposely repeat the problem so both are equal and unhappy. Odds are come launch the missing default and unlockable hairstyles will still be missing and we will get one or more over multiple post-game patches.
Then after who knows how long they will finally get around to fixing the racial hairstyles for male Hrothgar. Female Hrothgar are probably prebuilt with the face lock problem fixed. (Sorry this hairstyle thing left me as a jaded conspiracy theorist.)
(To forum mods who may read this.) Despite the salt I'm still over the moon happy that I'm getting to play as a female Hrothgar. Doing the unfinished Bozja questline back in SHB really made me want to play as one.
It's just this hairstyle thing has always bugged me, and the more time passes the worse that feeling gets.
I still like to believe the reason Hrothgals only have access to their racial hairstyles in the benchmark is because they're still in development, or else they'd be severely behind everybody else, even their male counterpart (who are already 2 patches behind Viera). The fact they can use Meteor's new bun at least is a sign that they aren't 'locked' to only racial hairstyles like male Hroths originally were.
Since we're never getting hats I can totally see them slowly releasing the other haristyles slowly, a few per-patch, to give the illusion of progress on their newest limited-race, even though they could probably be implemented immediately.
People are still playing beta version races? Insane that you would torture yourself so. Then again, if you don't care about glamour it's fine I guess
I have a Hrothgar, but I love a good beefy, manly, male body and will always roll a beefy dude it each and every game I am able. And idc about the hats since they will never wear much anyway. I would prefer they weren't cats but you can't have it all and come in shades closer to actual flesh tones which is still better than the green or red shades that roe come in.
The one thing WoW and GW2 have over FFXIV is the ability to have a beefy, bearded human characters.
Vieras for me just fit what I like: Tall, non-human, somewhat athletic and beautiful (if you make them that way). I do love au ras and if au ras were tall as vieras I would probably play them instead, which ofc would have the horns clipping through alot of hats anyway lol.
I care about glamour, it just that no amount of not having hats is going to matter unless the glasses change includes existing eyewear because I specifically use the glasses I use because I like how they look on my character's face, and I can't bet on it working the way that makes intuitive sense.
Also, I want to be a short bunny twink and no amount of people dismissing complaints by calling them beta versions will make me not want to keep playing a short bunny twink.
Bumping this because it's been a week since the last post and still no hats.
This should be *the* most important thread on the forums. We should never let this drop below the first page, shame. Sorry catchildren, I really don't care about your teeth yet when this massive gap in development quality remains.
I'm still waiting on the new race exclusive hairstyles we were promised for our female viera back when they were first released.
We're never getting hats. It's something the devs are never going to work on.
Start accepting that now because in one of the next two live letters, they're going to show off that feature where all the non-limited races get a new equipment slot so they can wear their glasses. A nice new feature that will have no real impact on Viera and Hrothgar because glasses are about all we can wear now as it is. Showing off this new feature for all the other races is going to suck for players that won't be able to take advantage of it.
And also just seems kind of tone deaf on their part given they're launching yet another limited race option with 7.0.
Viera and Hrothgar can wear circlets, hoods, flower hairpins, small hats, horns... even if they never get "true hats", the separation of glasses will be beneficial to them.
I do in fact agree that players may need to accept that for some reason beyond our comprehension, the devs seem to regard it as impossible to give these characters normal hats, so I can only assume there is some kind of limitation that modders are able to get around for some reason. I don't believe it's as simple as "they won't spend the time" because there actually are signs in the benchmark trailer that they may be going out of their way to make modified hats for at least the job sets in the vein of the tiny Fall Guys hats – so if true, that would mean they are taking on long-term adjustment work for every hat anyway, so why not put that work into simply making it wearable if they could?
The thing that keeps running through my mind in these "what were the devs thinking" conversations is a way of thinking about motives – perhaps with an undignified origin, as I heard it from one of the Phoenix Wright games, but maybe it has history beyond that – basically, "to understand why a person did something illogical, don't try to think of a reason why the person would do it; think about what circumstances would force them to do it."
It seems illogical to not fix the hairstyles so hats will work and they can stop getting this endless hassle. It seems even more illogical to keep hairstyles face-locked and especially to build that way for female Hrothgar. It's not just a matter of "putting in the work" because there are signs that they are putting in work to keep the races separated from the rest, if anything.
So what's forcing them to approach it this way?
I think we have seen enough commentary from the devs that they might be working on it quietly, the same way they were working on femHroths without comment for quite some time.
Also, change never happens without persistent public demonstration. You are entitled to be defeatist but some of us still think the protesting is worth it regardless of whether the devs ultimately listen.
I think this is just a useless angle to attack the issue. We already know through fan mods that every hat can be made to work to some degree. I think it is fairly well-established that the problem with Viera and Hrothgar is largely the way their ears, horns, and noses mess with proportion and probable extrusion points; it's not some unknowable thing. We know it is a finite problem, not some endlessly daunting task, and even if they couldn't find a way to restructure character models or headgear to perfectly sync algorithmically, it wouldn't kill someone to go through the anomalies and manually tweak them; there are only so many hats and helmets in the game. Once they settled on a system, it would likely take a single full-time employee less than a week to manually change every piece of headgear in the game on Viera and Hroth characters.
I just don't agree with this kind of "we can't know" argument from ignorance. It is clearly doable, both demonstrably and logically, and well-within the sort of cleanup that many companies would do purely for their own pride and ego.
All I'm saying is we got very minimal comments on femhroth, silence for a couple years, and then a reveal out of nowhere. *If* we do get hats, I could easily see it happening the same way, virtually unannounced until it is actually happening.
I am maintaining some small hope that they are already working on it or may even stealth release it with Dawntrail. We see four examples of hats in Dawntrail promos, each implying different degrees of the potential extent of implementation:
* Wuk Lamat has a big hat on. Clearly femHroths can make it work to some extent.
* There is another Hroth wearing headgear in the background of the Krile cinematic.
* There is the Viera wearing the tiny Scholar hat (maybe hinting at past hats being worked around this way).
* There is the Hrothguy wearing the mining visor (which is the least satisfying of all the implementations but it's still not nothing).
Honestly, I wouldn't even be too miffed if there were a lot of compromise as suggested by the tiny Viera hat and Hroth visor. As much as I want access to BIG HATS on my Hroth (which one would think would be the easiest to implement since they cover everything), just having more style options--restrictions, compromises, and all--generally would be preferable to having 98% of headgear be invisible.
I couldn't agree more. I know it's ridiculous to feel this way, but when I saw there was no mention of the Viera hat update or Hrothgar hair / hat after introducing Fem Hrothgar, I was about to cancel my sub. I've been waiting on Viera since Yoshi put it on a survey almost 10yrs ago. I agreed with the forums to give them time; surely it'll be out in Endwalker. Then I waited thinking, oh they're working on Fem Hroth, they'll update everything once they're released. Well, that's it. I'm going into my villain arc. There is NO reason this shouldn't be fixed. FFXIV is (so far as I know please correct me on this) their biggest money maker. WE give them the funds to produce THEIR games. ABSOLUTELY they should fix OUR characters. If my money is going to fund FF16, and the FF7 remake trilogy, THEN I SHOULD GET TO WEAR MY AF HATS!!!!!!!
I'm done waiting, I'm not excited about the expansion, I'm very unhappy with the excuses - There's no excuse!! Finish these races that we're paying to play!! >:E
It's been so long since I fanta'd that I had forgotten what it is to wear actual helmets, and I'd really love to do so again... Would be nice to hear more from SQE about this soon.
