Yeah, I'm just trying to take a nap over here.
Sometimes I hate my discord FC mates.
One of them demanded we finish up P11 and 12 because 'you have to see this! it's so cool!' Fine. I just got settled into crafting a bit, I'll bow down to your demands.
Same person puts us immediately into P11, refuses to give me time to look up a guide. 'You're better off doing it blind, you learn faster that way.' He says, 'don't be like those Legends I saw yesterday,' he says. I then proceed to die 9 times that fight because not only did he decide to troll me, but everyone else on the discord was yelling over each other over DFO and how Slayer was amazing this patch.
I get so frustrated I went into ugly cry mode, getting extremely upset by being trolled and ended up nearly breaking my desk. After the fight was over and I was thoroughly humiliated by the fight, I afked for a while and everyone wondered where the heck I went. I got so mad I actually ended up getting a massive headache and felt tremendously exhausted, and actually scaring everyone.
After I managed to calm down and give him one hell of a scare, we continue to p12. Still lots of deaths, but we managed to clear because I told him to screw off and let me look up a guide. He mumbled angrily at me, but got what I needed to know at least for the fight. Turns out it was necessary as our healers were new like me, but also died a lot.
We clear the fight, and the minion's there. I rolled a 98, and immediately got it.
He then proceeds to throw a fit that he's been trying for the past couple of days to get said minion. He rolled a 3.
Karma's a b*tch, isn't it?
there are guides for normal raids out there? hu... never thougt about that.
i do think people shouldnt just use guides for everythibg. its a game, its alright to die... though thst trolling part is an absolut no go... especially a first timer. no just no
Queued into duty finder for my dailies, find myself in a party for a trial I've only done once before for MSQ. Okey, cool. Someone marks me with the danger dorito. Okey, cool --- wait, what? Why me?!
I scream inwardly the entire time praying to Nhaama that I don't mess up since it's been so long since I've done this trial. The run went well, but that was nerve-wracking ksksa;laklskl
It also made me realize I haven't fully gotten over my tank anxiety yet;;;
I'd say it's apple vs orange.
Some likes to come in prepared, some likes to play it by ear.
I used to be insecure af that I look up guides in my earlier days in ARR/HW playthrough but beyond that point, I just wing it and learn as I played.
A friend of mine never get past that point and still look up to guides because they're very self conscious about stepping on their partymate's toes.
Doing the new trial on Wednesday night, we had a LOT of healer replacements....and they were usually the ones that ended up dying a lot. The healer who stuck around for the clear though....well. Let me tell you that EVERY single time there was the duo stack markers, they would be stacked with a group, and then run off to the other group(the other group was smart enough to actually disperse the second they got hit so said healer was killed every time, by themselves, since the group they were with knew better than to go into a double stack marker that gives a debuff). That healer probably died 10+ times in the pull we cleared it too.
Encountering tanks that are pulling the new dungeon one pack at a time. Pls, mobs don't have mechanics. Do what you were doing before in expert, we're all lvl 90 and have the kits to handle this. :(
Apparently people still believe in the cheese.

Was a long-standing complaint that, if you queued up with a certain ilvl, no matter your base level, you can force the alliance roulette into always giving you the ct raids. If I remember correctly, SE ninja-patched this some time in 5.3/5.5 where it takes into account your max level and gear anywhere in your inventory. I remember because I once queued for Breach to get my weekly coin, and some people loaded in completely naked followed by sudden holes in their hp before abandoning the instance.
Supposedly people have found a way around this, I don't know how exactly, but some people still strip before queuing to cheese the roulette.
Tale #1
- Be dragoon
- Have full 640 melded (not pentamelded) gear
- Struggle to outaggro dancer with non-melded 625 gear
- With dancer buff
Tale #2
I met a melee red mage. Only thing they were casting is vercure. And used acceleration. Outside of it - melee weaponskills and ogcd damage abilities
Did I mention that both of these tales are from Expert roulette? Now I did.
I had the weirdest cohealer today while running P12. They were quite literally spamming Glare even when people were dead for a while now, so I had to pick up all the dead people up on my own and heal them up. I think I've seen them use Liturgy of the Bell once, and used swift raise on me when I finally died from getting hit multiple times by adds mechanic and can't heal/ress the party. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were trying to parse on normal mode and neglect their primary role on healing when people are floor tanking altogether. I think one of the tanks noticed the odd behavior too, cause they gave me a pat at the end of the duty lol.
Alliance B thought they were being cool to slow-walk the entire alliance including when fighting the boss, I pray these people were 15 years old or less

Had a melee only Red Mage in Castrum[MSQ], that was fun.
Why do I keep getting CT raids on my healer main but Orbonne/Dun Scaith while leveling dps job on my alt via AR roulette for the past week? And of course the ones on my alt's dps always land in a disastrous run that I could've otherwise salvage better if it was on my main's healer... ;_;
RNGesus, why.
Well, since this thread is about positive experiences as well as negative ones, I'd like to recount my experience playing a Practice run of Voidcast Dais (Extreme) last night.
I'll start by admitting that I don't have a great deal of experience of Extreme content. In fact I was really hesitant to try them as, to this day, I feel that my performance in the game is sub-par and I'm often too slow to respond to what is happening. In terms of Extreme content, the only two I've completed are The Minstrel's Ballad: Zodiark's Fall and The Minstrel's Ballad: Hydaelyn's Call. I've tried Storms Crown Ex and Mount Ordeals Ex but haven't been with a team that finished those yet.
Anyway, joined a team for Voidcast Dais (Extreme) via duty finder and went as Bard (the only job where I could, currently, meet the level restriction). And the team I found myself with were great - I was concerned that I'd be a burden, and did make a point of saying that not only was I new to this particular fight, but my experience of Extreme content was limited, but did say that I'd do my best. I was reassured by all that it would be fine and that a few members of the team were new to this fight.
We didn't manage to defeat Golbez in the end - but the team were loads of fun! The post-defeat discussion was a pleasant mix of humor and observations about the fight, and whilst I apologised for my performance (which I still felt was lacking) the response from most of the team was that I was doing pretty well overall. I honestly found this so reassuring!
So, a big thanks to that team - whilst I'm still not overly confident about Extreme content, I've at least experienced it and it's nice to know that there are people like that out there :)

So earlier in the week I made a post concerning an FC member that trolled me in the P11 fight but I won the minion from him in P12. What I did not mention in my post was that I wished for him to suffer and not make prog in Savage when it came out next week.
Well earlier today I got back from work and take a look at the discord, and see he's already whining about being 'stuck with legends in P10S and how awful they are' and 'he can't make prog because of the constant wiping'. Even though the patch for said raids came out today.
Wishes do come true apparently.
My FC mate told me about this person leeching in a dungeon and it made me facepalm a bit. Apparently this DPS was leeching, and instead of vote kicking(even if it meant waiting out loot timers and stopping combat), they just let the dps die whenever they were inevitably moved into each boss room as "revenge." They don't seem to understand that the leech probably enjoyed their time on the floor.
Either way said FC mate brought it upon himself. He vented to me earlier about his P10S group in voicechat after dumping it in the chatlog and I replied with: "Now you know how I felt when you did the same to me in P11N." Apparently his group had timed out on it and they ragequit on him for the day.
Now he wants to make it up to me by clearing PoTD with us. He's never seen the challenge floors and I have my doubts about him actually getting his aetherpool up enough after the HoH incident we had.
i only bought the game about two months ago and rushed through the msq.
the novice network started my experience with booting me and leaving bullies on who were attacking others. replies often enough for questions was to google the question. mentors who spoke of others in a way they'd just give up and leave.
during this time i joined and quickly left a total of 5 fc's. with various reasons to not stay ranging from it being too clique, meaning they left new players out of any content they ran. another fc had a rival fc they were always talking about. calling that out had them focusing the same energy onto me. and the last fc's were so quick to leave a good impression which then got ruined by members openly calling others noobs, and stupid.
aside from novice and fc, i got roulette parties with mentors, even. dungeons and raids have never been more toxic. how can i get gud if you;'re pulling mid sentence while i'm asking for help?
the least players could do is wait for my cut scenes. but to actually have the great community others say this is, taking time to welcome new players and explaining mechanics would go a long way.
my sub ends in ...4 days. i'm done. and the only groups i ever enjoyed were blue mage party finder. the limited job had the most potential. i'm sad, but done.
Forgive my saying so, but your post is a touch contradictory.
You state that you "rushed through the MSQ" but a few sentences later bemoan players failing to wait for you to finish watching cutscenes? I'm a little confused as to why the latter issue would be a concern if you were in a hurry to complete the MSQ
So the tale from duty finder is that people didn't always wait for your cutscenes to finish?
All people i know of who jumped FCs frequently had high expectations on the FC and it's members while bringing nothing in. Like they are owed constant support. Not saying you necessarily are, but...
So, I got into Doma Castle from my alt's roulette.
Gotta say... the 'rework' done to the last boss made me wish I can use Rescue on enemies. The boss resets himself back to center to summon the saws. Guess adjusting to the old mechanic is just too much for their AIs.
or not. i was active immediately, and putting gil into the chest. volunteering for anything that came up in the chat. and spent 23 of the 30 maps i spammed the moogle tomes for.
this is a seriously bad attitude and response. i typed my feedback to get attacked and to let you guys assume the worst. if it's just me then the problem is gone. so thanks for the replies, they missed the point and placed blame where there shouldn't be any.
Okay - that's fair, but my point was that you said that you hurried through the MSQ.... but a few sentences later commented on your distaste toward the team(s) you were in failing to wait for you to finish watching cutscenes. That does come across as contradictory.
So you rushed the MSQ and then you complain others are rushing the MSQ
alrighty then

I'm a bit confused on the context here. Were you asking for help and they simply didn't answer and pulled? Was there any chatter in the chat at all? Did these scenarios come after a wipe? Were you asking or expecting to have explanations for things?
In my experience people tend to not want an explanation for....well anything. I've had people get mad for explaining mechanics without a request to explicitly do so and I've had people get upset for not explaining right away. There is no middle ground and if you want something, it helps to inform people that you want it. Otherwise, it's more likely they will just ignore you.
it's not that i disagree. i'm posting my constructive criticism while making the decision to leave a game. assuming i'm soft misses the point and adds insult to injury. go ahead and flame away. it denies any benefit you could have gained from me sharing this, and reinforces my belief that there's no good community here.
Something sweet today~
The FC I'm a co-leader of holds mount farm events every other week. Today I was the party leader for this week's Kamuy Farm, and we ran all the trials for them unsynced, except for our final run with The Minstrel's Ballad: Shinryu's Domain. There was one party member who didn't get the flute from it yet and they asked if we could run it the old fashioned way. Well, why not~? We all had a blast despite us wiping a couple of times x3
I would like for us to start doing the other farms like this in the future. There's just something about running the Extremes the way Yoshi P intended that makes it more enjoyable, you know?
