PETITION: Regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam Version (Mar. 8)

The reason they do this is because its the business model they agreed on. I remember complaining about this to a ticket agent a while back when I pre-ordered stormblood and that was his answer. Same goes for Steam having its own service account for FFXIV bought on Steam vs the one bought on the mogstation/SE Store.

Just curious. If Square allowed you to transfer your steam account data to the PC standalone version if you bought it, would you?

For steam version players. Later on when 7.0 launch will you be able to buy it through this and pay via crysta/paypal/credit card?

Asking for a friend who have Steam version ffxiv. but now SQEX removed Steam listing from their country. So far they are able to subs and buy things through crysta/creditcard/paypal. But when they use Steam wallet, it will get errorred

Steam isn't that bad, really it's not. Just like everything in this wrold, it has up and downs. If you didn't want to log-in to steam then just to log-in ffxiv, than at the end of the day. why did you buy it on steam at all?

Because I was excited to get into the game and didn’t know any better

I find the Steam version better than anything else in most cases honestly. They cannot even steal you account without having to steal the Steam account too. (If you are smart will not use the same password, of course) and if you have the two steps authentication on steam, they have also to steal your email account and your software token if you have it set it up on game. I've only had like 3 times problems to login with steam because Steam was overloaded (like when they are on sale), but that's all.

Plus, you can buy sub with steam wallet.

The only real conn is that in case your steam account is banned you're lock out the game unless you have a PS4/PS5 to play in there. I think it is possible to unlink the game from steam and PSN but I am not sure though.

Ivtrix: I have sent at least two emails AND at least two messages by the online system to tell them that website needs a makeover. Actually, cancel that, not a makeover, a full blown overhaul. I have heard a LOT of complaints about that website, so you aint alone, trust me.

It’s the most common complaint in this games history I think. Not sure where the disconnect on feedback is because there is a lot of it and they continue to do nothing.

Not just common complaint - I think there's near universal agreement among players that have purchase the game and expansion(s) that it needs a serious overhaul. Players all agreeing on something? A miracle!

I don't think it's a matter of a disconnect in the feedback chain. I think SE simply isn't interested in improving it for now. I wonder if they have numbers on how many copies of the game have been sold there versus how many of those sales led to FFXIV accounts being created.

Steam was the only platform I had known FFXIV to be on, I bought my account through steam because it was convenient at the time, but over the years the steam launcher and client has become so clustered and convoluted that any sort of connectivity issues with steam means that I can't sign into 14 at all anymore, it was fine when we were allowed to bypass the launcher via the -issteam command in the normal XIV client, but now since steam is forcing it to be launched through their launcher, I've had nothing but problems, especially when Steam decides to update other games that I didn't care to have updated (as I don't play them much), and it bogs my network down to a snail's crawl and causes 14 to lag or crash. I have been dealing with it for way too long and I'd like the option and opportunity to convert to a plain Windows/PC based license *without* having to start my account over. I hate being beholden to steam's ups and downs at this point, and I'd rather buy directly from SE for windows/pc than buy for steam and have login or connection issues whenever something happens to their client.
