Hey Reinheart,
The NA patch notes are missing the fixed/known bugs section(s) from the bottom of the JP patch notes. Any chance you could go through those?

2 hours early for me but for others already in 2014.
HAPPY NEW YEARS! Hope your 2014 will be a great one :D
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Since SE wanted housing to be bought after 2-3 months and it has only been one month, I wonder if they're seeing some other trend.Quote:
We have been observing all worlds land selling situation, and have decided that the cost isn’t meeting it’s demands between S size land and M size land, therefore made the price adjustment.
We will continue to observe and make adjustments to the cost.
I echo the poster's confusion. Many small FCs seem to be saying small is too small and medium is too expensive. Making small cheaper doesn't really address the issue.
I think that SE is looking at the wealth that FCs have, seeing that most FCs have enough money to buy a small house, and then seeing that people aren't buying them.
And yeah, the real problem with S houses isn't the price (though that is an issue that is shared by plots of land of all sizes), but the fact that they're so tiny. That's why people don't buy them.
The current (well, as of last night) status of housing on the Phoenix server is this:
1 L house, 4 M houses and 4 S houses in Mist.
3 S houses in Lavender Beds.
1 S house in The Goblet.
Given the pricing and number of plots in each ward, (3 L, 5 M and 22 S?) SE was expecting to see a lot more S houses in comparison to M size at least.
My FC actually has the gil to buy 3 S houses already, but they're so tiny. Even the M house (that we're going after) feels a bit small.
And with current restiction where it's one house per FC, FC's with over 20 active players most likely won't want to buy S size house due to it's size.
You can buy as much land but only build one house, they are planning to make it possible to sell the land to others later so maybe they thinking some FC will buy those S size lands and invest it for later when selling to other people? I don't get why they even have this restriction in there right now at 2.1 when you can't even sell the land to others yet...
There is one FC on my server that has a medium and a small house on adjacent plots.
I do wish that they would add another floor to the small as others have mentioned; it is TOO small. Why lower the price on it if no one wants it?? A lower price isn't going to shrink the number of people in a FC that want to share the space... or will it?
Reading your translations even the JP players seem to be calling bull on the S-size price decrease.. I don't blame them, we were debating in FC chat last night which is bigger - S-size house, or inn room, from an interior perspective.
Seems pretty simple to me. When there's less demand for something than you thought, you put it on sale.
They've sunk resources into the S houses. They want to see them in use. They need to entice people to buy those, and cutting the prices is the simplest thing they can try. If price cuts don't get them selling enough, they'll likely try other enticements, but price cuts are an easy first step.
They don't need to lower M and L prices, because they know there's enough demand for those to begin with. FCs are going to buy them, even if they haven't yet.
I didn't even know that FCs could buy more than one plot of land.
Not really sure what's the point when you can't build two houses.
Thanks for the live translation today!
Hey Reinheart, I see a few different of JP/eng blogs are pissed (putting it nicely) about myth gear being thrown away from the top spot/being useful from 2.2 onwards. Not happy about the new tomes, & gear level increase & gear being made uselss every 6 months e.t.c. seems to be a 80/20 split on the matter via blogs.
have you seen any posts about it or along those lines in the official jp section?
I have got a Playstation review on FFXIV to do on current matters/opinions.
Hmm I have to check it out, I knew this was going to happen even before launch so I'm not even surprised by ilvl increase making current gears weaker than new ones... It happens with most MMO's anyways. AF1 will probably be upgradable to AF2 and relic will have upgrades but the rest was most likely going to get weaker over time with newer patches.
For what Wada-san mentions about previous XIV - He says they had to change the team to start XIV to move on forward. By keeping the same lead it would of meant for that person to drop all his work at same time give out new instructions to everyone which would of most likely ended up in worse situation.
Other than that they talk about how Nintendo announced they are in the red (big time) and Wada-san mentioning that 3DS is nice but the market is being pulled more towards the smartphone business and they need to find a way to get it to the same level, or just make for those smartphone devices. As for SE's position on smartphone is that they are trying to approach the audience with the current trend, so it may look like they are fully into smartphone apps right now but that's not the case, if the project fails they still have enough revenue from other games so they are covered in both ways.
Not full direct translation but that's what I got out from reading that article. Also goes into other stuff like why they got Eidos, to try and learn other genres to keep up with the hardware/tech since SE was well known for RPG but it was coming to a point where all RPG's were becoming too similar.
yeah i've seen a few more posts popping up about it on unrelated matters. Just wote the review how it is, rather than how players may or may not see it. That they are increasing the levels, rather than players are not happy & why.
i was nice enough to point out some of the balance issues in game & Causes bet you anything they dont get published because of the ps4 release PR.
Saw your last post Reinheart.
Right after the last live letter I recall someone mentioning that in the live letter there was news of some new stuff for Fisher. Was it only that we'd be able to fish while sitting?
This is pretty normal for MMOs. It's very close to what WoW has been doing for a long time, even. I'm not sure of the problem?
Anyway, Rein, are they ever going to let people craft decent (not top-tier, but not crap) gear for level cap? Or is crafting seriously meant to be pointless in the long run?
Current gear will not get weaker, it just wont be the best anymore
Yep, it's the norm in most, probably all MMO's. In order for MMO's to keep the game fresh and to keep the players come back for more they have to place a system like this.
There will be new high-level crafted gear, YoshiP did mention during the live that once 2.2 goes live, for players that want to get to the highest gear level, quickest method first would be crafted new gear + materia. Then like usual dungeon gears. He has mentioned that crafted gear will never be the highest gear.
Crafting will boost the economy when patches goes live, as new gears are introduced but towards the end of current patch and near the next patch, the economy is supposed to decrease, just like how it is now and restart again with every patch. So crafted gear won't be the best gear, but won't be crap gear during that first phase of patch release.

just sharing them. in case theres info someone might find useful.
So according to that Interview Reinheart translated, the expansion is 3.0.. so can we guess a time for release then? If 2.2 comes in march and we go by a 3 Month Pattern, would that mean 3.0 will come around March 2016? <_<
That seems a bit off, if i remember back to certain Statements saying 1 to 1.5 years after Release, which sounds more accurate to me. Wait for a Job/new things for around 2 more full years.. that sounds really really bad.
Version numbers don't work that way also SE doesn't know how version numbers work.
2.16 should have been 2.1.6
2.16 > 2.2 :p
The patches don't need to go all the way to 2.99, they could release 3.0 after 2.6 so you can still expect it in a year and a half.
Edit:
You win this round Pseudopsia :p
We should be getting info about expansion when they go on the next world tour in Sept/Oct so that's some hint. Was mentioned in previous interviews if I remember correctly.
Wasn't directly saying it but was talking about they have to provide something fresh/new/surprising to keep the events exciting for the world tour, and interviewer was just asking about the expansion there.
There is one rule of software version numbers, and that is: they're not numbers. :)
They're just marketing text, basically.
*boring version stuff:Generally it's "nice" if they appear to have some ordering, like 2.0.1 comes before 2.0.2, but it's not required. Example: Windows MS Office: 4.3, 95, 97, 2000, XP, 2003, .... Also, note that "2.19" may not be a number. (If the next version is "2.20", it's not a number. It might appear to be two separate numbers with a period in between. Until someone sticks a letter after it, like "2.20a".) And certainly "2.0.3" and "2.16 hotfix 1" are not numbers.
SE mentioned a 2.3 elsewhere, so I wonder if 3.0 might come around the ARR 1-year mark. Seems reasonable. Also, nice that they clarified that 3.0 still includes PS3, though that PS3 support might not go on forever. (Unlike Windows XP. LOL/jk)
Version numbers don't have decimal values that's was my point. A minor release after 2.9 is 2.10. Not 3.0. A major release can happen at anytime. 3.0 can be after 2.4.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning
I'm being a little picky. The 2.2 and 2.16 releases are named that way for the general public. I guess they expect the general public to not understand software versioning.Quote:
When a period is used to separate sequences, it does not represent a decimal point, and the sequences do not have positional significance. An identifier of 2.5, for instance, is not "two and a half" or "half way to version three", it is the fifth second-level revision of the second first-level revision.
Actual version number is date based:

Number in brackets is likely build number.
Sorry for the wall of text on the translation thread :p
Was gonna do partial translation on Famitsu... ended up translating the whole stuff lol.
Haven't posted in here before, but just wanted to, to thank you for your awesomeness Reinheart. Much <3 :)
