You received the Headstart Code, it says that they will send out registration code closer to launch.
Okay allow me to answer. I also bough a greenmangaming digital copy for my girlfriend. I bough a PS3 CE copy for myself from amazon.com. I had an extra code from pre-ordering PC edition but had change my mind to PS3 CE after finding out SE kept all PC CE to themselves.
Moving on to your issue. The reason you got a PS3 code is because you selected it during the code inputting process, no one fault but yourself, that happens.
ALL RETAILERS, not just greenmangaming, have not given out official registration keys to anyone. Those can only be handed out on official launch day. August 27th. You will receive another key, the important key, that day. The only thing you have lost is your pre-order bonus (mog cap, caith sith minion, early access).
My recommendation, you from NA, go to amazon.com place a order for pc physical edition, receive your pre-order code, cancel your order. Now try with the new code and hmake sure you don't pick PS3 version. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS STEP. You will be able to play just fine with what you purchased from August 27th down. This is a If yo want the EA stuff.

The game launches on 27th August 2013. Shortly before then you will receive your game activation key and instructions. You will need to register to continue playing after the Early Access period closes.

So I bought the CE on the Ps Store and got no code at all yet

It went smoothly for me with Amazon.

After all the crap I just went through, I just ordered from Amazon, got code, claimed code, and if I can't cancel my order (for whatever reason) I'll have a spare key to give to a friend. Lesson learned (and for the record, I don't recall hitting the PS3 button. I do however remember frustrating clicking "OK" during the outtage, and according the SE rep he thinks it defaulted to PS3 and I didn't notice. I got the SE email code on 8/21/13 @ 7:33AM, the first time I got the pre-order code to work was at 8/21/13 8:12PM and to my dismay it was a PSN code.)

Amazon are the gods of customer service. You will be able to cancel with no problem. I always shop there because of their quality is top notch and the respect to their customers has won me over. I suggest you purchase stuff from them in the future as a thanks haha. Anyway, glad you got your code. Have fun.
I contacted the chat service for help and they gave me a new key for my PS3 that worked. I owe them many many hugs and cuddles but if you still have one that isn't working I suggest you can always try hitting them up. Just be nice.. poor guys are swamped to all get up.
And if you don't get through the first time just keep trying. I made it to #1 and got kicked because there was no one there to help and the second time around I made it in.

No offense towards you but the whole purpose of queue is that someone will call you when they are available. I sat in queue for 2hrs45mins only to get the same error you did which basically caused me to break the pencil I was holding. Poor pencil, it did nothing wrong.
Glad it worked for you, I spent hours trying to get the EU PSN to work...shows how I wasted my time haha. :D
Although I can't promise this is the reason. I think the reason that they ask you the character is because it wants to save the data. I know for PC, they only ask for your service account. So you either choose service account 1 or if you have another then choose service account 2.
One last concern I have, originally pre-ordered the game from amazon but saw that the CE was at the Ps Store for 60$ and I just so happen to have a 50$ psn card and 20$ in my wallet so I canceled my Amazon order and bought the digital CE ver. of the game. But I did the cancelation after I redeemed the code does that mean that something wont work or.... ? I feel like everyone is having this code problem but from how I see it we share servers with Pc so if the game is registered with Pc whys it matter ? But anyway if you gods of FF know anything please let me know. Do I get both SD and CE items or did I just set myself up with for disaster
I have the same issue? it only shows my alt in the jp server to choose for the cait sith doll and moogle cap, I'm worried my main character in the eu server will not have them T_T
I didn't use the phone number I used the online chat option in the Square Enix account management help site. You make the ticket and then choose the online chat option. They aren't open 24 hours but they did have the hours posted.
I would suggest you guys wait until tomorrow or before Early access goes live to log in. There is no rush, you have your service list and client ready. Just wait a bit for now.
However, I would find it silly and unfair if SE lets PC users all characters in service account get all the bonuses while PS3 users only get to choose one character. I doubt they would allow that.

I keep getting invalid code with PSN code :(
So wait! I bought the digital download of off the PSN, and I NOW find out I do not have to input my early access code to the network? All THAT stress for no reason. But why do i keep getting a "No valid service account available" when i put in my username and password? One more stress factor.
The less complicated explanation. Right now there is an issue where the PS3 version can't detect the NA/EU servers. It only see the JP ones and assume you don't have a service account if you don't have a character in said server. No worries, it will be fixed before EA.
