Here is a suggestion for the PC ARR CE code being unusable with 1.0 accounts:
Please consider adding some kind of feature to the digital upgrade service to let use the code provided in the PC ARR CE boxed or Digital download versions.
This whole having to buy the PS3 CE version or spending a extra 20$ for something that comes with the box doesn't make sense.
Please consider offering us the ability to simply get what we paid for.
hi i'm a ffxiv 1.0 player and i buy the PC CE version and now i received the pre-order code but i don't know where i have to register it to obtain the bonus
PERSON A has normal PC account, PERSON B has a CE PC account, PERSON B wants to play PS3. can PERSON B buy a ps3 CE and gift the Bonus items/codes to PERSON A rather than wasting them? or should he just buy the normal ps3 copy since it cant be done?
The CE items are tied to the account code; only the preorder codes are giftable in this way. So if PERSON B doesn't want the new physical CE items, they should get a standard PS3 edition.
If PERSON A wants the in-game CE items, they can upgrade online (later on). If PERSON A wants the physical items too, they should buy the PS3 CE (and as a side-effect, they'd be able to play on PS3 if they wanted to); bearing in mind that they'd have to initially register it on a PS3 (presumably the one PERSON B has).
^I'm sure you get this, was just repeating info for clarity.
So is it official, that the pre-order code is separate and applicable to any account? According to the official website, "Please note that the pre-order bonus codes are different for the Playstation 3 and Windows versions."
Let's say there are 2 legacy accounts. 1 of which was registered with the original collector's edition, the other was a regular copy.
Can I pre-order the PS3 collector's edition, link it to the account the regular account for the CE items, and gift the pre-order code to the account that had the original collector's edition? This way, both accounts get CE items, but the account that had the original collector's edition would have the pre-order items instead.
This is super retarded and I should be able to get a physical PC collector's edition (with all the goodies) and link it to my old non-collector's account. But apparently this is how it is and we just have to deal with it. :/ Come on, SE. We wanna give you money. Make this easy on us.
I can't answer that :( I only have the one account and one pre-order (I received my preorder code when I placed the preorder). Good luck in getting an answer!
Edit: thinking about it though, my Legacy account is "PC" and the preorder I placed is for a PS3 version ,so I must be able to apply the preorder code to my Legacy account, before my PS3 code, as the PS3 code will only come through ~27th August wit the physical copy (after early access).
I still want to know if a new subscriber that buys PC CE and PS standard and applies them to the same account gets 60 days game-time!
How do users who started 1.0 on a buddy pass get collectors edition? are they classed as standard users who will need to use the digital upgrade?

I have a friend that wants to play ARR. She didn't play 1.0 at all and is wondering if she can play on both pc and ps3 if she just buys the ps3 version. I told her no she has to buy a copy for both systems, but another friend says yes because the ps3 beta code lets him play on the pc too. I'm sorry if I missed the official answer to this while skimming through the topic.
With today's announcement about being able to link multiple PS3 copies to a single PSN account, I wonder if it affects my current situation.
I currently play PC FFXIV with my girlfriend. We each have separate Square Enix accounts. I've preordered two PS3 copies of FFXIV ARR, with the idea that we can each register a copy to our SE accounts and play when one of us just feels like playing on the couch/HDTV, and the other can play along on their computer.
As it stood previously, I was under the impression that we would have separate PSN accounts, and that way we could each link our respective PSN accounts to our SE accounts. Is this still the most advisable option?
If I understand the revised announcement, can I now register my PSN account (with two copies of FFXIV attached to it) to both my and my girlfriend's SE accounts? Any clarification is appreciated. Thanks!
Forgive me if this has been asked, but I can't seem to find this exact scenario.
My husband and I are both 1.0 players, both with individual accounts and PC copies of the game. He is thinking of playing ARR on our PS3, instead. What if I also want to occasionally play on the PS3? In addition to buying the PS3 version of the game (for him), do we need to purchase another registration code for myself? Or will my existing account from my PC version be sufficient since we already bought one PS3 version?
if you are old 1.0 players, you can download software for free. So, all your PC sides are taken care of. In order to continue on 2.0, you don't need to do anything, just download. For playing on PS3, you need one PS3 disc to get the software. So, your one copy of PS3 version will take care of it...
I don't think 2nd person need to get PS3 code to play on PS3 too... but I can be wrong.
buddy pass is standard 1.0 account. If you want digital items, use digital upgrade; if you want both physical and digital upgrade on your old char, have to use PS3 CE.
I had a sneaking suspicion this was the case (but I think because of only one game code being needed on FFXI/PS2, that's why I was thinking perhaps I didn't have to have a 2nd one). Hopefully, we'll have the ability to purchase additional PS3 service accounts available right at early access, in case I like the PS3 version and want to jump in.
Thanks, Mjollnir!
I'm still waiting to hear whether we'll have to do this unlock for expansions (ie buy two copies of each expansion) or the base game is essentially a system unlock for the Service Account.
And also if a new ARR player buys PC and PS3 and applies them to the same Service Account, do they get 60 days play before subscription starts?
In which case, is it best to buy PC version, take 30 days free and then apply the PS3 version to the Service Account for a further 30 days?
You say buying a copy of the expansion for each system is dumb, but that's what you have to do in XI for the console software (not codes) - unless you have a friend you can borrow the install discs off. What with the requirement in ARR to have a code for PS3 play, it's not unreasonable to surmise that this wouldn't be required for each release... Having said that, I kinda understand if billing and access arrangements haven't been finalised that far ahead yet.
If applying both codes simultaneously won't give 60 days, I doubt applying them a month or more apart would, either.
We know that SE is including 30 days free trial for registering the PS3 code to an existing v1 service account. To me, the simplest explanation is that the 30 days free comes with each new platform registration per service account. By that policy, a new customer registering both codes at launch should get 60 days free trial, but SE might have decided to limit free trials to one per service account. We won't know until SE clarifies their policy or when new customers apply both PS3 and PC codes to their account at launch.
Hello my question is I had brought both CE and standard 1.0 boxes.. now my issues if i cant remember which serial i used either if it was the CE or the standard but i do have both ingame items on my account (the Garlond Goggle and Onion helm) is there a way we can find out what Box we used? cause it would be important for thos who don't remember so they can buy the correct ARR.
