1. I apologize if my comment offends you but your point of view/argument is very small minded, it does not consider the situations or issues others might have. You made it sound like ppl want servers to stay global just so they can see/listen to Japanese.
2. Its not as simple as asking everyone to stay on the same server, i don't know about you but i have JP, FR and GR friends, some of my friends don't know my other friends and likewise I'm sure they all have other friends i don't know about. I can't selfishly demand they prioritize me and stay on the server.
You must not have any true friends or you treat them pretty bad, If that offends you, well that's simply how i feel when reading your argument. I can never selfishly impose on my friends and my friends have never done that to me so i can't think the way you do. Friendship is not an case of either your useful to me or your not a friend.
When SE try's to do something right to make the game run smoothly for everyone a crossed the world.. They end up get shot down with people yelling "SEGREGATION!!! SEGREGATION!!!"
In this Version we had people yelling: " STUPID LAG!! IFRIT'S PLUME GOT ME!!" >.<
You can't have cake and eat it too (that's what my grandparents always told me when I wanted everything when I was a kid) I miss them >.<.
So, I live in Brazil, I have friends in EU and NA that I want to stick with. If I pretend that I care about latency, and they do too, where do we move to? If I move to EU, I'm supposedly going to have lag issues. If they move to NA, they will not have the best performance. Someone's gonna get fucked. If you assume your friends really want to be together no matter what, then there's still the chance they have other friends who can persuade them to stay near their region. This isn't an easy decision to make. On top of that, you'll miss out on the rest of the communities, who seem to be the majority, who will prefer to stay near their region. (specially new players not used to XIV one-world structure). If I pick NA, I will miss at least EU and JP. If I pick EU, I'll miss JP and NA (for the most part). This is horrible.
The game is dead right now, so whatever is left of it will be gone when 2.0 arrives. We'll be separated by regions by the sheer amount of people joining (hopefully) that will just pick the closest region to play at. This is obvious. No one picks a different far away region for no reason.
You're judging the game for how it stands now, but the reality is different with a lot of players. You NEVER need to play with JP when you don't want to if you have enough NA people playing the game, and vice-versa. A truly multicultural server provides enough for EVERYONE. It just can't be seem atm because NO ONE is playing.
then you make the sacrifice, if you don't want to, then don't blame SE or the friends. Things happen, what will you do if the person quits? your going to hunt them down to play with them still? If the friendship is that valuable and still want to talk with them with out sacrificing playtime, get off game connection to communicate with them. I did it with all my FFXI friends as we all trickled off of XI we still talk and have fun but omg we aren't playing together. I don't blame SE on this I will make the effort to spend time with friends I have made, just because you can't do it, don't get upset.
It's pretty disgusting the assumptions you're making about others. I absolutely do have true friends. Those are the friends I'm going to be sticking with. I have many other aquaitances who may go their seperate ways. If I miss them, I'll make a character on their world to talk to them.Quote:

For every friendship broken, there are also new ones to be made.
Your opinion doesn't make a fact. I'm not being "small minded." Considering you flamed me a second time after apologizing, the negative view I seem to be developing of you at this point may be justified. But I'll give you a chance to show you're not the kind of mean person you're sounding like right now.Quote:

Therefore, if you have that many JP friends, you won't change servers.Quote:
Total agreement. i cant tell all my JP friends to move over to a NA server so I and I alone can have better latency while making them lag. That wouldn't be right at all.
What I don't think people are realizing is that the current servers won't immediately change, based on what YoshiP is saying. It will be your choice to move off the current worlds or not.
What are the Japanese Players saying about this on their forums?
This is so sad.
Had a great JP pick up group early this morning to help me with Cure for the Common Pox. Really love the international feel of servers.
Never again. :'(
Going to wait to see if this change means moving 'existing' servers outside of Japan or if its only for new ones. They cut out most the lag/latency as is without needing to change over to a new data center then I really don't see how the community is going to get segregated (the current community) as most friends I know would rather stay with what they know then transfer into a completely new server just to experience marginally less lag. Furthermore we already have a segregated server in game already... or does Ragnarok no longer exist suddenly? What were people expecting to have happen when they mention trying to make server data centers in other regions, that somehow they could entangle all 3 servers to some kind of single entity thus bypassing physics?
We have known since 2.0 was announced regional and international servers were coming, we already have one in 1.0 now. Unless the data change is staggering reduction in lag I really have a hard time believing people will just get up and leave their current servers and if they do it is because it was something they wanted all along to begin with, they wanted regional servers, they wanted to play with more people in their time zones. Just assume the current servers are the international servers and then let people choose a regional one if that is their choice. There is no way you could please both parties on this subject.
God all of you, the population has become so annoying the last few weeks that I wish you'd all be gone...
That said, let them just add an "unknown region" server and let all of you join that one.
Make new friends people, fairly simple concept. If the extent of your friendship was about wearing the same LS pearl, or finishing CC/AV together, your "friendship" is pretty shallow. JP's got Facebook, euro's got Facebook, yank's got facebook, etc.
They can't do it and this was the next best solution.
com·pro·mise [kom-pruh-mahyz] noun, verb, com·pro·mised, com·pro·mis·ing.
1. a settlement of differences by mutual concessions; an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles, etc., by reciprocal modification of demands.
2. the result of such a settlement.
I'm looking forward to datacenters. If I end up segregated from a few people I used to know, I'll make a few new friends I'm sure to fill the void. It isn't the end of the world, there will always be more friends to be made, AND I get to have less lag. This is a winning scenario for people who don't freak out over nothing.
They did fix their servers, 2.0 servers will be way better than current ones, and responsiveness as shown in the live show are also way better due to more client-side interaction. The probelms were 2, not 3. I'll just ignore you quoting the definition of a word out of an online dictionary like you had that on the top of your head...
But there's nothing wrong with having friends only from one region.
When I joined WoW I chose a PST server in hopes that I'd find the most people playing in my time-frame and maybe even find some people who were semi-local (and I've done both quite readily). Are there people from other timezones? Sure, of course.. but I didn't join the server to run raids at 3pm while I'm at work because it's 7pm on the East Coast for others, I joined to get the best chance to find people in my timeframe.
In the case of FFXIV , it's both time-frame and countries and language.. and once people start talking about countries and language, people start throwing around the term "racist" like children who think they know what they're talking about.
Wanting to be with people who are in a similar region as you, even if it means you have less contact with people outside of that region, is not a bad thing. People need to get over it.
If you have friends that you consider "close" outside of your region then why don't you extend that friendship over other social media and enjoy portions of real life with them, rather than just a game. In the long run, you're going to make new friends and be just as bloody happy if you allow yourself to be happy (which many people seem unwilling to do) on a server that is based on the datacenter closest to you.
If people would stop whining about it, they'd see there's nothing wrong with the way this is going down.
There is nothing wrong with it, but what if I want to befriend people from multiple regions? Much like when I head back to Japan I make friends, when I go to France I make friends, when I go to India I make friends and so on. It's not a relationship where you're allowed to be with only one person (unless you're a slut), some people just simply make friends with anyone regardless of nationality lol.
People need to get over the fact some are honestly upset they may and most likely will be separated from friends they made who play from Japan or Germany for example, yet you're essentially saying they're wrong for that.Quote:

Don't mind this at all. I'm sorry but I'll take lag-free play over playing on servers abroad any time.
This isnt wow, its FF, FF 11 and 14 have been world servers with ls's that are from all time zones for 12yrs+, your opinion is invalid.
They should have just named the game something else instead of smacking the FF logo on it for the extra subs and in the process screwing over ff11.
