I can definitely see this as being a misdirect. You never want to give too much away before release.

The ring announcer in the Arcadion says
Which has got me curious about, like...are "flesh-and-blood" challengers a novelty?Quote:
初戦の相手は、「ブラックキャット」!
The first opponent is...BLACK CAT!
生身の挑戦者は、怪猫の魂に対抗できるかア ! ?
Can this flesh-and-blood challenger overcome the soul of the kaibyō!? (Monster-Cat)
Is this related to the SOUL SIPPY kiosk...?
This is fair-
That goblet-key-thing looks like 1/2 an hourglass, so I'm leaning some kinda time bubble/stasis tank/GoGoGadget Kairos.
The Fallout Vault makes sense also.
Regarding "Woaaaaah wtf!!!" 6th zone reveals:
Assuming Ancient Tech is at play/Kairos, pocket dimensions could be at play. AlTeRnAtE dImEnSiOns/ "The Upside Down".
Assuming just Final Fantasy vibes, we haven't been to a deep underground/underworld zone yet. (I'm not counting Labyrinthos as that's just "simulated surface but underground)
...and assuming FF9 specifically, there could be a trip to another world entirely...but I'm kinda tired of that.
Honestly, I'd like to just stick to the Source World. 6th zone doesn't have to be mind blowing, it just needs to be fun and interesting.
My ideal would be just an introduction to what could be coming in future expansions. So no need for planes-walking, but maybe we discover it's a hollow-earth situation. Kind of what they kinda-sorta did-but-didn't with the Void in 6.x... (bleh)
I would actually instead point to the narration we heard in the trailer, of a place (pretty clealry Solution Nine) being a place where nobody ages. That tracks pretty well with a place where nobody has a physical body in the first place.
I think claiming that to also be from another shard is putting too much spin on that ball for my liking; I think 'ancient time-capsuled society from ages past that's fallen into legend' actually reads pretty well by itself. Especially because they wouldn't even be the only ancient empire we've heard of in Tural.
...unless they ARE the only ancient empire we've heard of, and this is where the giants went! We haven't seen any physical people in Solution Nine, because ti would give away that they're all huge!
I'm still going to call it the giant shopping mall. Where can I buy the Aunties soft pretzels and a drink please as well as the arcade! Skiball is calling >_> <_<
I’m hoping black cat is y’shtola’s melee form, and that this is Altima’s hobby while she looks for another job and drinking buddies after the events of shadowbringers and endwalker.
Ya know, I was googling about real world city of gold, just seeing if there was any lore out there to connect/draw on..and lookie what I found:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_My...Cities_of_Gold
Anime, from the 80s. And seemed to be popular amongst people now in their 40-50s when they were kids. (See also Nadia: Secret of Blue Water)
Plot:
In1532(whatever year it is), a SharlayanSpanishorphan named KrilleEstebanjoins the WoL and crewMendoza, a navigator, and his associates Sancho and Pedro, in their search for one of the Seven Cities of Gold in the New World, hoping to find herhisfather. They are joined on their quest by Wuk LamutZia, a Turalian Incangirl, and ErenvilleTao, the last descendant of the sunken empire ofMuWhatever Solution 9 Is.
The series is a mix of ancient South American history, archaeology, and science fiction. During their journey, the travelers encounter the tribes of TuralMayas, Incas, and Olmecs. They discover many lost technological wonders ofthe Mu EmpireSolution 9, including a solar-powered ship (the Solaris) and The Golden Condor, a huge solar-powered ornithopter (mechanical bird), capable of traveling considerable distances under the sun's power alone. They are constantly pursued by antagonists, who are also in search of the Cities of Gold.
The Seven Cities of Gold were built by the Emperor ofMuSolution 9 out of fear that a global war would destroy all civilizations. Such a war actually broke out, destroying the Empires ofMuSolution 9 and Atlantis when they used the "Weapons of the Sun".The Seven Cities of Gold hold copies of books in their "Universal Libraries" as well as powerful artifacts, including the "Great Legacy", an Aether-rector (MAKO?)portable fusion reactor. Other elements of this technology turn up in unexpected places, like the Solaris on Erenville'sTao'shome island, Krille'sEsteban'sand Wuk Lamut'sZia'smedallions as keys to the Cities, and Erenville'sTao'sjar as an important piece of the Great Legacy.

there's more...but I thought this might bring a laugh.
Oh yeah, one of the old staples. Thought Cities of Gold (or more specifically the tropes and other works it inspired) was obviously part of the underlying inspiration for DT.
Heh, having been a big fangirl of that anime back in the 80s I immediately picked up on that similarity the moment that it was mentioned about a 'city of gold' in Tural the first place. And when I saw Solution 9, I thought... "Hannnng on.... Yeah SE, that's reallll subtle." :D
But hey, it's not like they haven't done that sort of thing already (Amaurot being taken from Utopia with a Bioshock skin and elements of The Tempest for instance).
*Now imagines Krile singing "Sooomeday we will find... the ciiity of gold!'", and the others just rolling their eyes...* ;)
I hadn’t watched Cities of Gold, but I very well might- it seems like fun! I just hope it isn’t too on the nose, heh.
