Supposed to have taken a break, but this is the closest thing to BST....so here I am......
Kind of makes ya wonder if this is a Segue to BST, but I digress......
Once I seen people calling monsters on the Island Pokemon, knew I had to at least attempt to check it out. More ammo for me to start completing stuff I guess.
How this content launched without timers for animal feeding, crop tending or remaining crop growth time is beyond me.
Just received an achievement of reaching 10k cowries in a week, thanks to the Shark Oil :D

I also want to thank economist people on the other thread I made before :D
Got to spend money to make money with those rare mats, and I need to save my money (after my hair) for island expansions and upgrades! I wonder how I can micromanage it next week. A lot of the stuff that was in demand for me was also rare mat required items. Or at least I needed to have more farm animals.
The mammets are annoying and it feels like their island more than mine, like I've stumbled into some extra not-beast tribe questline. They've set up shop in "my" house and the courtyard is full of them and their name tags. They need an office somewhere out of the way.
Got my hair, but with some sales today I might be able to afford one clearing, or I could just try to send them out to get me some rare mats, so I could sell/upgrade my workshop/granary. Not sure what would be a better use.
Yeah, for sure. I don't know why they have them standing right in the middle.
need to pick the seed you will be planting in the second window to start sowing.
when the crop is ready it will be lit up and ready to gather.
All crops seem to be on 48 hour timers.
I'd love if the final reward glam had a version of the shirt without the hat... and that actually dyed the shirt itself instead of just the ascot.
This week has definitely already started productive for IS. Getting your second and third workshop/granary down is definitely the right play. Now I can sell double, and triple when I make a few more sales in a few hours and expand again. Well, tomorrow I'll be able to do three a day. I'm not exactly sure how many rare mats they bring back with the expeditions, but hopefully I can get enough for some upgrades there as well. Holding off on the pasture/cropland upgrades. I am also not sure where people are finding these rare animals, I caught one black sheep, and it gave me milk. Definitely haven't seen any crocodiles or whatever.
I will say I don't really like just having the three spammed workshop/granary. I think it looks unnatural; makes it look gamey. It's a big reason I don't like certain builder games, because optimally playing would have things built much like this. Definitely don't like the workshop and granary in the courtyard. I'd rather that area be for more decorative building sets. With maybe the workshop and granary npcs inside the main house.

Accurate times and everything for the rare animals look where it says forecast
The crocodile comes out during showers at the water fall where the rivers meet up
I'm definitely getting that feeling. Put all the mammets in one building, call it an office, don't try to claim it's my house when I get one screened-off bed in a corner. Make the player's house a separate building that can go in the landmark spaces.
Talking of landmarks! The mammets have infested them too. It feels more like I'm just the hired help for building their sanctuary, and I have to pay them to do it.
Oh, and I paid to expand the animal paddock and they cut down all the trees. It looks ugly now, and the animals have no shelter. And why are we keeping aquatic things without a pond, or a feeding trough, or basically anything to meet their needs? No wonder I came back the next day to find all of them had plummeted to cloudy-rainy moods.
I seem locked at rank 6 like there's no way outside of gaining animal "leavings" to make daily progress. 3 workshops don't give much exp, granary gives zero exp (which is wrong IMHO), gathering gives a measly 10 exp when you need 23000 (2300 gathers?!)
I'll definitely have to check that out! So I can have more mats for sales!
It doesn't feel like a house at all, but an office, for sure. Yeah, a little cottage or bungalow would be nice to have for a landmark space.
Hopefully SE goes back over and makes some adjustments or new customization options over time.
Passively it will definitely take a little while, but gathering sounds a lot more daunting than it actually is. You can get about 1000 exp per 10 minutes easy, more actually, and even more than that if you are more efficient and have better spots. I personally just don't do it all at once. If I am in the mood, I will find a YouTube video or something to play and go gather for a little while, then take a break from it.
So i just bought this house, and it's got this wide open concept feel going about, lots of grass.
That's weird, I'm halfway level 7 and all i do on my island is literally what you just described, and i haven't had any trouble making exp that way. (i don't even see the supply and demand thing)
Just in case you are missing something remember to: Construct and upgrade all buildings, expand your lands, upgrade your tools, crop your land, retrieve the items from your animals, and put your mammets to work for you on your workshop
This guy speaks the truth. I thought I was in rank 6 purgatory until I realized all my new buildings can be upgraded. Just craft those tools and start collecting logs and hemp since those (at least to me) are the most annoying to get because of the amount that spawns at a time vs how many you need for said upgrades.
The lighthouse is kinda uglier than expected. I was expecting something like the one in Eastern La Noscea, not the somewhat ramshackle one we got. Doesn't even look structurally sound, lol.
The areas you discover via flight give you
A cotton farm north of the hideaway, the paissa spawn east of the hideaway, and a self contained quartz loop at the top of the mountain
I was just thinking right now, they should have made the island be built by lopporits instead.
How about we just import an expert level crafter instead, like some short cutscene with a random NPC? Or they should have just had the island be built by lopporits instead, like I said above. At least then their laziness would have been kind of endearing and cute. Plus it would make total sense for lopporits to be the builders.
Y'know, looking more closely at the lighthouse, I wonder how its flame is even maintained. It's a wood fire in a brazier, with no easy means of access. Guess you gotta climb, lol.
I'm still not happy with the explanation given for why we have mammets doing the work instead of Lominsans that Merlwyb want resettled. Surely the mammets would have been more useful elsewhere (think most recent EW role quest) while giving actual people some employment opportunities in the islands.
The mammets, of course.
+1 to rabbits being the better choice, and the overall island sanctuary storyline being kind of nonsense.
The only reason the mammets exist real-world is to do the island thing. The rabbits make much more sense as building things is literally their jam..and they are probably desperate for some kind of purpose.
Moreover, while I get it and appreciate the island, why is there a need for creating some kind of self sufficient colony system for Limsa? There are hundreds of refugees in need of a home, likely willing to do the work to build a home…and again, tons of rabbits to develop the islands.
Why give an island to a single adventurer who is just going to set up a mammet colony and move on to other things. If I could make a beach house and have just wild island to enjoy great..but even the development doesn’t serve any purpose to people who might live there.
I want these mammets dismantled after almost reaching rank 7.
The good thing is that i managed to pace myself but i just can't stand these things demanding to be paid
This just makes me wish i had my GC squadron transfered to the island and help up....
