Reporting in again - issues are still the same for me. The latest thing I have tried is removing all audio devices and then rebooting, which didn't help either.
So, I'm not sure what changed? But the last few days I've been able to play relatively fine without any serious issues but if anything it feels like more of a duct tape fix.
I have my distance set to 100, my sound effects set to 20, and then the player effects set to 6 each just so you can barely hear it. It seems to work for me, if I get a slight crackling then I noticed I can just move my camera around and it seems to fix itself right. Hope this helps someone until they fix it.
Bump! Still experiencing all this jazz, would love a fix :)
Ever since prerelease i've also been having the same audio issues, like "crackling" and stutters...
Did a full reinstall of the game itself, all sound and video drivers, and still no change at all. I want to keep playing to advance my MSQ, but since the music is one of the main draws for me, I have the feeling i'm being held back and won't have the full experience w/o it.
Ran chain FATEs last night for about 3 hours and didn't experience the audio issue as I previously had, but did have it a bit while crafting/checking my retainers in my house (which I didn't have an issue with previously).
It seems mildly better, but it might just be a coincidence on my end.
Hoping that next week's patch does something to remedy this- I really want to turn my sound back up again.
Was not a severe issue until the final fight in Endwalker. I had to quit during the fight, and then I was forced to skip the cutscene afterwards because it was horrible. Restarting, DX9, etc have not fixed it. I have played this game for 8 years now, and this is absolutely devastating for me, because I live for the storyline, and it's been...ruined now. Just bumping this because this is still a severe issue, and it's ridiculous that the game has been out for almost 2 weeks now of early access, and this is still an issue.
Yeah directx9 helped sometimes but not all the time. I had audio stuttering, slowing down, no sound effects, ect. I did manage to finish the MSQ but some cut scenes were just... not good. I really wish this issue was addressed already because sound is one of the most important things next to visual to enjoy the game. Because getting passed the queue is all well and good, but there are still those who cannot play even if they can log in due to this issue.
Good day to all! I apologize for my English, I use machine translation.
The same problems with sound. During the battle, the use of skills, a strong crackling is heard. The problem is relevant for all locations of the game world.
I also tried to get rid of the problem by reinstalling the sound card drivers, deleted and reinstalled the game. Connected and disconnected various external audio equipment. Nothing helps. Perhaps the problem is in an outdated AMD FX 8320e processor and a weak built-in sound card?
This is the same issue I'm having, but it lasts MUCH longer and ends with 1fps for 5-10 seconds. Only for it to suddenly stop and go back to normal. EW dungeons are unplayable.
Found a possible solution to this. I had my equalizer under System Configuration > Sound Settings to "Bass Boost". Turning this to "Standard" immediately stopped the audio popping and glitches. Something for folks to try.
Mine has been on standard and still cracks and lags. It seems that turning off the sound all together cuts back the lag a bunch. Turning the sound on even for a bit it will bring my game to a standstill.
bumping this
Same problem since day 1 of Endwalker, got worse after i started playing tank for some reason, till the point it is barely playable with audio.
I know that we got a response that says that they are planing to send a fix next patch but do we even have a date for it?
Also having Audio issues on this end too. After a certain point, I will lose all sounds other than Music and System sounds (like limit break filling up, or the victory fanfare when winning an item for instance). These remaining sounds will also frequently stutter. The only way to resolve this is to restart my game (which given current Queue circumstances, is less than ideal).
I've not been able to pinpoint any specific trigger. The only constant I have is that this has only occurred when I've played Reaper, and always in combat.
Same here, although I don't play Reaper so I don't think it has anything to do with class. Although one time the game started without any sound effects too so I make sure to move the sound effect slider in the main menu before I join the que, there will be chocobo sounds playing if your effects work. I first thought frontlines and sound effect heavy areas might make your sound effects break more since the first time it happened was in a frontline which is very noisy...but yesterday it happened in a 2 man EX mount farm so I think it's just completely random.
The "turn all audio settings to 100" also worked for me, anyone with an FX cpu try this! I think it has to do with listening position and if you have any of the equalizer things enabled.
btw, mind you i did not read all 26 pages, a solution i recently found for audio issues that started with the release of endwalker was to unplug the ps5 controller i had plugged in for ps5 remote play. it seems that even though everything to do with it was disabled, the game was still trying to use the controller for everything i had disabled. not had any audio issues at all since i unplugged the controller. so if you have a controller like that in use, try to disconnect it, not a good solution but at least worth trying.
Good day to all! I apologize for my English, I use machine translation.
During the fight, the sound is very hoarse and distorted. And that's what I found. Distortion occurs when the camera is behind the character. When I move the camera to the character's face, the distortion disappears and the sound works as it should. AMD FX-8320e processor.
I attach a video demonstrating this. In the video, I use the same skills, both from the back and in the face. Maybe this information will somehow help technical support.

lets hope that tomorrows patch fixes sound!
When Endwalker launched I changed the Equalizer mode to Standard and it fixed for the most part, some times the static would still happen but very rarely. Recently however, the static came back with full force even with the Equalizer on Standard, and nothing I do seems to fix it again.
Hopefully they'll fix it tomorrow!
I've managed to limp through the MSQ when my sound decided to behave. I got up to the 89 dungeon Saturday but held off doing it because my sound decided not to behave. Crossing my fingers they fix this with the patch!
6.01 Patch Notes came out and this is what it has for "Audio Issues" that were fixed
An issue when playing the opening movie for Endwalker wherein audio channels were switched, resulting in improper sound balance (PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 only).
An issue wherein selecting Logitech PRO-G 50mm under Sound Settings did not affect audio quality.
An issue wherein enabling Immerse Spatial Audio prevented sound effects from playing under certain conditions.
An issue wherein certain sounds do not play correctly under certain conditions.
* We expect sound issues created after the release of Patch 6.0 to be resolved via adjustments to the sound engine. Should you continue to experience sound-related issues, we recommend the following:
Open the Windows control panel, select your default audio device, and view properties. Then, under the Advanced tab, select a lower setting for the default format. (A lower bit rate and Hz range is less system intensive.)
Other minor text issues have also been addressed.
I'll have to give the settings adjustment a try if there's still popping.
before the maintenance i managed to fix my audio issue by simply changing the refresh rate (in my case changed it to 60fps), and i have no problem since... idk if it works for everyone but it works for me, and since it's MT rn let's just wait for the patch and see if they're fixing it
Yea i just read this. Lowering bitrate was one of the first things a lot of us did to troubleshoot and it didn't fix a thing so not expecting anything better tomorrow but we'll see....
As for this part, I think the translation was kinda misleading, it gave me the impression that SE was expecting us to adjust the "audio engine" via Windows settings.Quote:
We expect sound issues created after the release of Patch 6.0 to be resolved via adjustments to the sound engine.
Taking in account the original Japanese text from the patch notes:
I think it better translates to:Quote:
サウンドエンジンの調整により、パッチ6.0以降に発生していたサウンド関連の不具合が解消される見込みです。
Which means that, although they didn't properly mention the stuttering issue, they might be expecting it to have been solved.Quote:
We expect that, from the adjustments (that were made) to the sound engine, sound issues that were occurring after the release of Patch 6.0 will be resolved.
Let us just hope it worked.
so servers came up early so i figured i would test stuff out, i can confirm the issue is still alive and prevalent at least on my end. at first it didn't seem as bad, i ran a FATE and it crackled here and there. then i did trial roulette and did the Moogle fight and boy was it awful. I either don't think they know about *this* specific audio issue, or simply put, the systems that are having this issue can't handle this new sound engine they put in and its time to upgrade. its sad but i don't see this getting fixed.
5 minutes after maintenance ends, I log back in under dx11 to go smack the dummy I test this on and the audio's still stuttering like crazy. So here's hoping for 6.05!
EDIT: I should mention I'm also on an FX CPU. A 6300. Every ounce of respect due to the engine devs but like, this is the only game I have this issue in and I refuse to accept it's all our computers not being up to the task.
Patch did nothing to address this sorry, still the same.
Same. Bumped my game back up to DX11, smacked a dummy around, heavy stuttering in both sound effects and music. I'm also on the lowest possible settings for audio quality my system can go, so it can't possibly be a case of something not being up to the task. Something on the game's end is just requiring too much juice or something.
Nothing changed after patch 6.01. Changing the settings according to the advice from the patchnotes does not help either. As far as I understand, only people with a certain hardware have these problems. But problems occure only in this game, in others sound works perfectly.
Hey I just noticed something:
The bug report thread(s) for this issue seem to have been moved to the "Confirmed/Planning to Address" section of the forum.
I was going to say over on the bug report thread before that it wasn't fixed, and it wouldn't let me, took me a second to realize it's because it was because the thread was moved there.
(Actually, I don't know if that means they thought it was fixed or are working on it? Should a new thread be made where people can send in reports and system info?)
Still encountering distorted audio. AMD FX-8320.
For me, on the AMD FX-8120 CPU, the audio popping issue only got much worse since the patch.
Before it only appeared in certain angles in combat, and I could alleviate the problem by moving the camera around. Since the patch, the popping persists after it starts, and it appears even in benign circumstances, such as visiting the GC Squadron HQ or playing Triple Triad Open Tournament.
No fix for me either.. I've never had an issue with sound since my sprout day in late shadowbringers. Only with the launch of Endwalker did these problems begin. Hopefully they can work this out because I would really like to hear the entire game experience.
