Play poll: No Open world vs Instanced world?

Tanaka once said that he thought an MMO should have players playing together, so he wanted to limit the amount of instances in the game. And that was a big reason why some people liked this game.

Now, the reverse is true, and it's as if any and every little thing is instanced for no reason. So that seems like false advertising.

I think the player poll question "would you like to see drastic changes to the game world" was purposely and sufficiently brief and vague so they could get a unanimous "yes" from the playerbase and bypass false-advertisement laws.

Instancing the gameworld seems like a pretty sweeping change which wasn't really ever suggested to the playerbase beforehand. And it really does fundamentally alter everything about FFXIV and flies in the face of the concept of MMOs in general. So I think they do need a player poll, or at the very least, they need to go back in time and give us one back when they could have still listened to feedback. Now it's probably too late.

Ya, tanakas version was going to be a sandbox type style. Yoshi is going for a theme park style, which sounds cool but all you have to do is look at WoW, Tera, failwars, any other mmos and you know how this will turn out.

Also sandbox might not bring in the numbers like WoW, but it would still bring in enough people to make the game successful and fulfill the FFXI fans.

As I've stated BEFOR many times, that poll was not and should have not been worded the way it was. It includes the battle system/claim system. It should be a question of its own, not combined with other elements of the game.... come on now. Also seeing peoples reaction now and in the past, I think you would get a different showing of hands on who wants instanced and open world. Also that doesn't even talk about open world, so it can't be taken as heavy.

Definitely.

All the poll question was, was horribly-worded lawyer talk.

instanced without a time limit would be fine for me. i think it would be the best of both worlds. just so long as the dungeon is made as a dungeon for exploration, and not a single misison.

poll question, to me, was hey, we were thinking of changing the claim system, if we do, we thought it would be fair to make the dungeons instanced so that you don't get NM monopolizers. do you want monopolies or instances?

It wasn't just about instances it was also about the claim system.

I voted no because of the word instanced lol I wanted to say yes to the claiming system though.

All the Poll questions were "leading questions". That instancing question says:

"if you didn't have instancing, then everyone would steal your mobs, you don't want people to steal your mobs, do you?"

Same, I voted no.
