Regarding Reports on Recent Connection Problems with the NA Data Center

Today I've been getting error 90002 instead of the usual 90006.

Lower number is better right? Progress?! Only need to drop it down 90002 more times! (Yes, this is sarcasm. :P)

It really does come down to the server's location. California is not a good place to host all of NA. A central location is ideal. Less nodes to travel across for everyone and a more reliable location to boot.

Had a 90006 about 10:45 CST after being fine earlier this morning. Again, this was at Castrum Oriens, where the new Ananta beast tribe quests are. Seems to hit me more there than anywhere else. When I ported to Limsa, it took almost a full minute to load, and I arrived at an empty Limsa -- it took all the players and NPCs some time to load.

Not sure what the heck is going on here.

Update: And I'm back to regular 90006 errors at the same interval as they were before. Great.
Update 2: Was able to get in for about 10-15 minutes around 6:00 CST but got another 90006. Sigh.

ggr2.la2ca.ip.att.net averaging at 100.1 ms to...

ae-5.a00.lsanca20.us.bb.gin.ntt.net averaging at 215 ms. What is up with this terrible isp? This has been going on all stormblood. Starts at around 2 PM hawaii time and can last until as late as 8 or 9 PM. Sometimes only an hour, sometimes several. This is so much worse than it was back in the data center's old location and it is significantly closer to me. Under no circumstances should my ping literally double once it reaches NTT.

Any time after about 6pm CST looks like this. And this'll go past midnight (checked it last night). In what universe is this acceptable performance?

Was able to stay online after a 90006 and 90002 for a little over an hour with no issues; then got another 90006 at 8:20 CST. I guess I'll just take whatever pockets of time I'm allowed and see what I can do -- but it's an awful way to try and play a game, especially one like this.

This is between 8 - 9 PM EST. Two days in a row with lot of packets drop, latency. I am using AT&T as ISP.

ive found another besides those ntt.net nodes that should be looked into

ix-ae-24-0.tcore1.LVW-Los-Angeles.as6453.net [66.110.59.81]

while other nodes on the route have some slight loss % it is like 0.02% or 0.05% of loss until it gets to this node where it suddenly has 5.5% loss. tested it 3 days in a row and it is always this node specifically that i see such loss % on and my ping jumps up by 30-40.
but as im sure has been stated, if you choose to move server locations again, somewhere like colorado would be a better choice simply due to less network congestion unlike the west coast and it is more central to the vast majority of players on the NA servers. also, i seem to really only be lagging in dungeons and almost never on the overworld areas

Just a note that I tried a full reinstall last night and I'm still getting constant 90006 errors this morning.

Those areas have a very slow update rate so you won't see the packet loss as much compared to dungeons. Extreme Primals and Raids have the highest update rate, dungeons are probably in the middle.

My patience with your ISP square is running thin. This has been a thing for almost all of stormblood.

They probably doing something on their side but i wouldnt hope any solution for now, all these trace stuff is probably for data gathering. This problem has been persist since HW and even until now there is no solid solution yet.

As long this problem didnt take say... 1/2 of total user playing this game, i doubt SE put this on priority list

welp thats it i guess, i just got probably the worst 90002 error, i was in the middle of cutscene during my class quest and i got error 90002, then i got it again in the middle of fight, and again in cutscene, i continue my next class quest and again error 90002 in the mid of cutscene, and again from the same cutscene, again in fight and finally in another cutscene. its ridicilous, i practically got 7 error 90002 DC in a span of 10 minutes.

i had enough for now i guess, think i just unsub and wait for the best. i really hope they fix this in the future.

I'm having issues with constant disconnects, error 90002. It started a couple weeks ago, before that the game was running perfectly fine.

When the game loses connection, it "freezes" for a while, I can't use any skills and everything looks frozen in place. But the chat keeps working fine, because I keep receiving AND sending messages just fine.

Yesterday it was much, much better than before, I got DCed very few times, I thought the issue was resolved. But today I went to a dungeon and right as I start a boss, I kept getting DCed every single time, I couldn't stay connected for more than 2 mins to the point my party kicked me because of it. Very frustrating.
After I left the dungeon, I took some time away then got back and it's back to the regular DC every 20~30 min.

I know there's a lot of nodes my connection has to go through to reach the game's servers and an issue with any of them means disconnect, but this is seriously depressing, I can't do anything about it, SQenix can't do anything about it, so I can only blame my luck.
I've been enjoying the game a lot and would like to keep playing, but unfortunately this issue makes the game nearly unplayable and turns into an unpleasant experience.
I'll wait a few days but I don't think it'll get any better, sadly, I've experienced this with other games before and most of them took some months to get properly resolved. I'm subscribed for 4~5 months so maybe it'll get better until then, but I'm considering quitting since it doesn't make sense to subscribe to a monthly service where I can be left out for months because of network issues that neither me or the service provider is at fault. Everyone loses, me most of all, but such is my luck I'll just have to blame on it and move on.

Today has been exceptionally bad for lag and disconnects. Just letting you know.

Ever since the housing update I have been experiencing terrible lag and connection issues. Can't craft, can't do combat because skills won't go off. It's been affecting my statics raid progression. Something needs to be done. I've restarted my router/modem, forwarded and opened the mentioned ports. I do a trace route and this is what I get.

512 through NTT. This should not be happening. Please SE fix this!

Having the same issue as several others in this threat starting around the time 4.2 went live. Have tried everything in the OP and can confirm only the game goes down as my discord and other internet applications don't miss a beat. Error is always 90001 and gives me a random disconnect around once every couple hours.

Well Primal Data Center seems to have no change. If anything I'm having a worse time now. Instead of the usual rubber-banding and eventual 90006 now and then. I now get 90001 & 90002 that instantly boot me without any noticeable lag beforehand; this happens in Dungeons and even when I'm just in town being idle, chatting or AFK. I've came back to an error 90001 or 90002 screen a few times the past few days.

I saw the same last night; about 3 hours give or take from 6-9 p.m. CST. After that it was more constant 90006 errors, with the same pattern this morning.

Play for another 4 hours today, got 1 DC 90002 but the rest is smooth run.

Iam not sure this is because SE doing something over there or because i play this game in fullscreen, backthen i keep getting DC error 90002 because i play it in borderless window since i tend to alt-tab and browse internet, watching stream and anime while waiting my DF queue.

Anyway this is indeed a good thing, i might resub again if it keep like this

Anyone have any ideas? I really enjoy this game but and I would like to continue using the rubber banding as an excuse to stand in mechanics but the higher in content I go the more impossible this is getting.

- Severe lag to the point of loosing combos, telegraphs not appearing at all (or my character making it past telegraphs and still being hit), boss abilities doing damage before the animation ends up playing.
- I've been getting a small window of time each evening that the lag isn't bad, but it just gets worse throughout the night. I've just been logging for the night when it gets too severe to tolerate.
- No error codes. (Was disconnecting before but haven't yet since last maintenance.)
- Playing on PC, just FFXIV running.
- ISP is Cogeco (Ontario, Canada) - DSL Connection
- I've had lag issues since Stormblood launch but its only the last few weeks its become unplayable.
- Tried your suggestions of resetting equipment, clearing caches and port forwarding with no success. I can't go wired because of house limitations at present.

FFXIV the only thing I'm having lag issues with. Streaming content and play other games online has been just fine. Here is a tracert, let me know if I can provide any other info.

It's been 6 months that I've had these issues and it's recently got worse.

Not only do I still get the occasional rubber-banding/lag and eventual error 90006, but now on top of that I get error 90001 and error 90002. The former(error 90001) will boot me without any noticeable rubber-banding or lag happening beforehand. Sometimes there's a period of rubber-banding before error 90002, but not error 90001; it's always unexpected. Also it doesn't matter where I am in the game. Dungeons, Towns, out in the field. I get these errors everywhere, they are however most noticeable in Dungeons, Trials, Raids and for some reason POTD is disconnect hell for me.

I live in Scotland, UK. My ISP is Sky.

Started playing this month after years of being away. I remember this issue from Pre-Heavensward.

ISP: Spectrum
Location: I'm in Texas.
Connection Issue: Disconnections especially when entering a dungeon. I've tried suggested steps.
Frequency: Everytime I've entered a dungeon, within seconds, I have dc'd. Switching zones: sometimes I DC. And other random times, but if I'm not switching places, usually fine until random moment where I'm not.

Things have somewhat improved; I've had two nights this week where I've had about 15-20 minutes of uninterrupted time. Then I get a huge lag spike, folllowed by being mostly fine for another 5-10 minutes -- and then I get the 90006. It's been pretty consistently this pattern for this week.

Still a problem, obviously. I don't like being anxious and angry every time I log on to play -- anxious that each minute on might be my last and angry because of the lag and timeouts that prevent me from playing well, or at all. The more often this happens, the less interested I'll become in the game -- and this is a game I've truly loved since I started playing it years ago. I don't want to give up the thousands of hours I've put into this game, but the longer this goes on, the more I begin to mentally prepare myself to do it.

But once again I'll post it again cause this latency and lag is wiping my group because the servers are located in California with garbage nodes along it's path. YAY!

I've basically given up playing in the evening at all. Which is a shame since that's when all my friends play. Probably not too far off just unsubbing entirely at this point. If the game is unplayable for literally 60% of my available time during the day, what's the point?

I start the game all good, then when I click to log in my character, it just disconnects. What's happening ?

after 3 days of smooth run, the 90002 error came back. just had 2 dc error 90002 in a single dungeon run, i guess this problem will haunt ff14 forever lol

Game was working good today and then teleported to new area to do my daily beast tribe quests just have game freeze up and have to force shutdown the game. Whole time this was happening chat worked just fine and saw other players running by me. They just need to force who ever there data center server is with to fix there garbage server stations. Problems is like how frontier internet was at my place there whole server stations had outdated computers.

i dont understand, opening port and turning off antivirus still get me 90002 error, considering 90002 mean connection problem in this game, doing those 2 should at least fix the problem to certain degree

i never see this kind of problem in any mmorpg, even maybe in all other online game that i ever played zzzz

I have done so many things to try and resolve my problems too. I've had maybe one good month in 2017 where my connection to this game was normal, perfect you could say. But after that patch...the patch I'll never forget lol. 4.06a, my connection problems started and it has never got better since. This was back in the beginning of September 2017. I'm surprised I'm still here and subscribed too because this is without a doubt the worst connection problems I've ever experienced online for any game. It's been so long now that I just don't ever expect it to be fixed, I forgot what it feels like to play without having lag and disconnects. Disconnect errors, rubber-banding; they're just apart of this game like anything else now.

Also, you can use [ I M G ] [ / I M G ], no spaces of course, to show us your pic. You'll have to go to that link and click your image and choose "Open image in new tab." and use that address instead.

I won't post my info again, but holy cow. We need you guys at SE to resolve this issues SOON.

If NTT won't fix the problem, I would suggest moving the servers again to somewhere more centralized. This is getting ridiculous. :mad:
