I'm sorry. I don't want to offend... I'm just having a very hard time understanding your post. @_@ Maybe I'm still sleepy?

First Moonfire Faire ever that I will be doing. Exciting times!
It does make sense. This way, the sense of novelty and excitement over a certain set is maintained for longer. There is only so many new sets the devs can design each update/expansion (and they do design quite a few, let's not deny that). If they also add old sets with the new feature of being dyeable and wearable by different classes, these old sets also add to the novelty, and thus there are even more glamour pieces to be excited about.
If anything, I think it's a smart thing to do. And considering all the effort that designing each set takes (I believe I read something about 6 months), it's only normal they would want each design not to lose their relevance quickly, and instead be something people can still look forward to in the future.
This doesn't make much sense. Why all of a sudden start reusing dungeon gear that we got literally a month before as event gear to extend the novelty/relevance of it? Also, revealing armor tends to stay popular for quite a good chunk of time. I don't think those swimsuits were going to be falling out of favor any time soon.
No it doesn't. Everyone is wearing the shisui outfits, there is no novelty. Now if they went and made some of the Syrcus Tower gear dyable or something, then that would have novelty. Not something that came out less than 2 months ago that everyone is already wearing. And its obviously not a smart thing. This 25 page thread proves it.
Most dungeon sets eventually become dyeable, and when they do, people always get excited. What's nonsensical about it? (?_?)
As for Shisui gear, people were eager to have it dyeable and have been requesting it from day 1. Here you are. Is all this drama really necessary?
It just makes it look like they had no plans or ideas for the summer event gear and when dungeon gear does becomes dyable, it's usually not until the next expansion. All crafted levelling gear from 50-56 (new in HW) and 60-66 (new in SB) have once been dungeon pieces.
I also vaguely recall the devs (or Yoshi-P himself) saying it takes them around 6 months to design new gear.
My wardrobe is readyyyyuuuuuu :o
Well I believe it can go either way. You will have those that wont post and that just love the game, then you have those that hate some decisions and are not sure if they want to stay and that are not posting (know someone like that) and you will have those that will simply unsubb without a word.
It is important to get compliments when you do something right, because it will help to understand what content we want and it just feels nice too. But imo its even more important to know where you still have deficits or just did something wrong. But other then the forum people dont have a outlet for that. (Thus I feel that they need to invent some ingame polls)
Even if only a minority goes to the forum it is still quite telling that we have a longer thread about this topic which shows that maybe this was not a great decision.
Let's be serious. They can if they want to, but they won't because of profit. I can't speak for others, but I do find it a little disappointing that the fuga oufit was added to the kupo store before SB and then we didn't get any other traditional Japanese clothing in game with the whole kugane town and when moonfire hits, it's a partial redyeable set of shisui gear instead of a new traditional Japanese clothing (or new swimsuit).
SE could just have a bit of foresight and make gear dyeable from the start. Also, lets not go patting SE on the back for now giving us a single style of the Shishui gear that is going to be dyeable. First they take an easy path for the event gear, then they aren't bringing over all the styles to the table.
Ok how about this one:
The shisui class-sets weren't supposed to be dye-able at all, but seeing how popular they became in-game, they decided to give us a dye-able set at the next appropriate event.
I mean sure it's not completely new, but it is popular gear, like, people seem to be happy with them and now it's also available dye-able, as a gift?
These have been datamined for a while now, so that's obviously wrong though.
the main issue here is not the shisui set being worth of dyes, but them being handed like that in an event that is known to give unique stuff every year when the dyeable shisui could have been crafted gear.
I, for one, was really expecting an actual hingashi kimono for this event, because the 2 vanity armors we've been getting lately is the Taoist and Ao-Dai set, both resembling chinese things, not japanese kimonos at all.
I think the only reasonable expectation is that they'd bring something unique to the table - but guess that's out the door now too. lol.
On a side note, crafted Shisui armor would be nice :X The Bard set is actually my favorite style and would love a way to have that on my other jobs.
Oh yeah, I am 100% with you on that! SE made that change in XI, so now you can glamour any item on any job (as long as you are actually at the level to wear it normally) - fingers crossed XIV finally brings that over as well. It's really A LOT of fun and adds so much more variety to the glamour system.
My favorite events have always bern the Rising, the Halloween, Christmas, and New Years events in any game I have played. Summer events are fun, but have always seemed lackluster by comparison to others. Still an event is better then no event and I think the people of Eorzea need something to chear them up this time of year, regardless if the gear is recycled models.
Wow...they couldn't put a single bathing suit on the Faire Vendor the expansion they add swimming?!?! Talk about greed...
Seeing how they said that gear takes half a year to make, I cant see how this summer event was just created after SB went live. Anyway if they thought that this would be an popular gear set, why could they not have included all of the sets? This would not only mean that people will have more inventory slots free but you would have more do to at the event. I mean I did it a short while ago and I did it at a slow pace and was done with everything in under half an hour.
But I do have to compliment them: The additions to the zones are nice and I like to swim there. It looks way better than any under water zones like the ruby sea, so I was positively surprised by that. Yet sadly the event itself did not really feel like much.
Obviously opinions will vary, but I feel like SE has been incredibly heavy-handed with the cash shop for a subscription game. And normally this is when people will scream that "WoW has had a cash shop for years!" or that times are just changing with MMOs, and both of these are true. The amount of items though, and exclusive items to boot, is insane.
Going back to a post I made in March, at that time, you could buy all of the items from XIV's cash shop for a bit over $990 (this was including only female versions of outfits, single dyes and full sets of items only. No fantasias, world transfers or other "account" items). For comparison, WoW's cash shop at that time could be bought out for about $388.
tl;dr: I agree that SE is incredibly greedy.
This I really wish they would abandon. The excuse used makes little sense for the precise reason you said. "People would be confused seeing healers in armour!" Yes, but that isn't a problem when I put my tank in a mini skirt. Of course, Artifact gear should be left restricted since it's meant to reflect a specific job.
yeah! I hate the fact that healer and dps caster gear is usually the same but with different color schemes. I think glam should be a free system BESIDES job artifact gear.
Plus, gender set restrictions being lifted...
Job restrictions on glamour have never made much sense, but with the crafting and gathering gear in 4.X so far, it seems they are increasing the restrictions rather than reducing them. The whole healer wearing metal armor being a problem thing exited stage left when SE started giving metal armor to casters themselves and of course with metal armor glamor sets. Just be done with it already SE, remove the glamour restrictions based on job/class/role. That said, I do agree with keeping Artifact gear specific to jobs, it is specifically part of the job identity and should not be shared.
Though even then I don't stop being a White Mage or change physical shape just because I'm punching things or throwing cards around instead of rocks. In terms of lore and character building it absolutely doesn't make sense to have any kind of job-locked gear when you can have one character capable of canonically mastering multiple disciplines. And there are some pieces which are irrelevant as AF (e.g. the SMN AF2 leg-ribbons which you cannot even see when the full AF2 set is equipped; SMN doesn't have a monopoly on ribbons in FF) which would make nice glamour pieces for other sets on any job if mixing and matching was encouraged.
The most classic job symbol is probably the WHM red triangle pattern, but any healer can use that with the Genji set IIRC and the male GARO healer coat has dyeable triangles too. It's all silly and I strongly believe that everything should be glamourable if you have earned the right to wear it on your character once.
(Sorry, totally on your side but I needed a rant!)
I wouldn't hold either as valid arguments to any extent either.
Just because another game did something unpleasant doesn't mean its alright to accept it elsewhere (nor that it was alright for it to be normalized there). Precedent is not necessarily valid as justification.
And the "Well, things change." argument is just a matter of apathy and acceptance of increasingly negative traits. If we just accept a negative 'change' then sure, it'll stick around and things will continue going down a negative spiral.
