Every time something like this happens, I just imagine the design meeting that led to the situation. And each time I always picture one guy, in the back room, probably keeps to himself most days, doesn't really say much, then he hears this and is just "UMMM, I DON'T THINK THAT'S GOING TO WORK" at which point everyone whips their heads around to face him and collectively go "naaaaah, it's fine."

Then we get to the day of the incident and that guy is at his desk, typing away, diligently working, and on the inside he's just like "YUUUUUUP."

This issue shows the difference between Japanese servers and American servers:

On US servers, people just crowd the point and spam the button.

On Japan servers, people took it upon themselves to line up and take turns.

Very glad I chose to be on a Japanese server. ^_^

I went to go play SMITE for the night. This early access was trash. GG Yoshi. Good luck with hyping the next thing you want folks to preorder.

Based on the "fix" they've talked about (which is that the community should just deal with it) and the math behind letting such a small batch of people through at a time, you are far from right, friend. Ah well.

Lines did form, at least on my server. It did not help matters.

This. The reason why the NA servers stopped using lines is because we realized it's stupid and ineffective.

Seriously...just mark everyone's quest that is online as complete and let people get on with it. That is a very simple thing to do.

I think this shows the difference between American game developers and Japanese developers.

My original code had to entered into a site to receive a code for the game? But this code didn't work.... I contacted support about it.... I gave up after waiting over an hour in a queue of 4.

I refunded my purchase through the promo vendor, purchased again through a different one and everything seemed fine.

Now when it comes time to play the new content I purchased, it is unplayable after only a handful of quests.

No experience I've had with blizzard or even arenanet had ever been this awful.

Notice how they decided to compensate players for their issues.

You bet if Cashshop ttansactions were halted like this, Dev team would have been woken up in the middle of the night and helicoptered in to fix that asap.

Don't listen to those that don't know what they're talking about.

The lines help by preventing further congestion from the instance server being spammed. Without lines, the server gets thousands of spam signals that slows the process down even more. By lining up and taking turns in an orderly fashion, not only does that reduce the delay due to no spam, but it shows common decency and lack of selfishness.

If I could, I would like to get a refund for my Expansion + the sub. I came back from WoW just to play this Expansion. I regret it to the fullest!

I will give this another 12 Hours. If it is no fixxed by then, I will quit FF14 for good and get back to WoW Legion again!

The thing that has me so heated by this is the fact that I was legitimately enjoying myself, I was excited to see the zones, music, and new enemies. See where the story was going to go and really looking forward to seeing the rest of the zones that the game had to offer. I was up at right at early access and excited to go. Now I've been stuck at this point for 15+ hours (as of the time of this post) and it completely killed the momentum and fun I was having, I really wanted to enjoy playing today and now because of this issue with the instances I can't. I won't even be happy when I do get it done, more of a "it's finally over!" kind of feeling.

I don't get why they have not made this skippable, or just dropped all the mobs in the instance hp down to 1 so people can burn through.

This is genuinely terrible service. People keep spouting at me "Oh well it's early access!" And? That's no excuse. There was something easily fixable about all of this and Square has done absolutely nothing about it. The most they've done is say "We know the issue is bad, please try again later." And a vague suggestion they MIIGHT be working on it. The entire day this has been an issue, the fact the servers havent been taken down once to try and fix this is appalling.

Actually, it's a very valid excuse.

There is literally nothing they could do. Taking down the servers won't let them just "fix" it. That's like suggesting that a stadium or auditorium could be "taken down" and fixed from being overcrowded during a game or event.

This is par for the course for any content release of any major MMO... yes, that's including WoW.

I tried again after a little bit and now it disconnects me for even trying to get in.

Been on since launch , JUST finally was able to enter & get clear. Fight is no joke!

Finally got in and completed it.

Just got in as well and beat it.

I got in but DCed halfway through. GG SE.

I was almost done with the quest, was on probably the finishing cut-scene, bam, game crash...god effing damn it man, the fight was such a slugfest too, boring like hell.

I got in and Alisaie died because she just stood in all the AoE the prototype did. Tried again and got dced.
