Actually.. I finished mine within a week or so of casual grinding. I haven't resented it yet, until I started doing my girlfriend's one. Seriously screw fates.

I don't know what got into me..I had already decided from the get-go I wouldn't do this.
Now today I suddenly went "oh I'm doing all weapons except for the 30-medal ones!". Urgh.

If there's one thing that I learnt from this event, it's that the game is not appealing to me anymore lol.

Glad I came back when I did took me 6 days and 797 Fates to get all the Weapons. With work I dunno if I would of made it if I came back much later

In to say I DID IT!!

I am pretty casual, putting in the most of my hours during the weekends so it took me nearly the entirety of the event's duration. I'm also a newer player, have no level 60 jobs, and about 25 MSQs away from HW. I think it's safe to say you can imagine all the juggling. I literally had to put aside leveling my DoH to get this done, but I sure in hell leveled my DoW classes in their place.

Just a few stats:

Number of FATEs: 726
Drop rate%: .3057
Highest consecutive medal drop: 9
Highest number of FATEs w/ no medal drop: 20
Number of controllers broken: 2

Only two days to go & no mention of the Special Event. I hope it's not Japan only. Very unlikely but they're the only ones who got a trailer for it.

Nope. There's a trailer on YouTube in Japanese that shows Yokai in FFXIV. I thought nothing of it until I read a random article on the Google News aggregator about the "finale" special event to take place on 3rd October to celebrate the end of the Yokai minions event. It was the first time I'd heard of it & I'm having trouble with finding the (English language) article as Google updates regularly. Of course, the article could have been wrong & I'm not denying that fact but I can't see why they'd write a whole article about that special event based on that video if it had no relationship to it.

You would have though so, but why has there been zero information other than for the Japanese? They have a full part of the (FFXIV) website dedicated to Yokai but I haven't found an English version yet.

But we knew that. So the event (allegedly) starting tomorrow isn't happening? It seems silly that they ONLY used FFXIV visuals in the promotional video. Damn them! I was hoping to get some kind of finalisation to the longest (?) event in FFXIV so far.

Sweet... mercy! I finally just got the last Yokai Weapon in WLN (after messing up on the order of which weapon to get first) and finished after grinding all day for over 12 hours trying to get the last 4 weapons I need. 2 in WLN and 2 in OLN.

Oh lord... I'm so happy to be done with this event! The drop rates were the REAL monster here... and SE NEVER. EVER. DO. THIS. AGAIN!

That was not fun at all. At least make the drop rates reasonable or something different and engaging! That was Super Atma Farming.

The video is just talking about the event itself. The whole thing was called 「エオルゼア大集合だニャン！」in Japanese (the "Eorzea Dai Shuugou da nyan!" event you mentioned), so no idea where they got the impression that this was a separate event on October 3rd alone!

I only bothered to even start and complete this event on my alt (who, admittedly seems to have actually become my main for the time being...)

After which, I've yet to bother summoning any of the minions, glamouring or using any of the weapons, and I can probably count the number of times I've summoned the glowing mount on one hand.

But it sure as the "Seven Hells" made leveling Paladin from 30 something to near level cap a lot more interesting, running about the world instead of grinding instanced dungeons ad nauseum!

If anything I hope they DO try something like this again, albeit maybe with "prizes" I'm more likely to want to glamour or summon outside of Halloween.

Never got the whisper mount that you get from the Legendary weapons but I really liked this event. It got me into Yokai-Watch (Only saw the anime!), I'm playing through the games right now , could have been less reliant on FATE grinding but I got some really nice minions out of it. I hope to see more crossovers like this, it's cute, it's a fantasy video game where we've had Lightning come to Eorzea I hope the playerbase crying that this is event is out of place doesn't discourage the FFXIV team to collaborate again.

Can you imagine something like Grandblue? That'd be amazing, game's pretty much a FF game at its core.

I'm considering to unsubscribe because of this. It's like they cannot create any content without RNG and grinding. If this game is going to be like Korean MMO then it's not for me.

This game already taken a lot of my time and effort. I'm 24 years old and it's time to stop playing.

I'm not sure you understand the point of an MMO.

Got all 13 weapons on my main, and all minions + a couple weapons on an alt. And I don't even want the mounts. They're ugly. For that matter, so are the weapons and some of the minions. I just did nearly 900 FATEs simply because leaving it incomplete would bug me.

Positive notes, though: It did give me the incentive to level up a bunch of my lower level classes. In the course of all those FATEs, I reached 30 and unlocked jobs on all classes that hadn't gotten that far yet, and reached 45 on WHM to get the first 4/5 of its AF gear. Plus for the jobs that just reached 30, those Yo-kai weapons are BiS for several of them. (I glamoured them to look like regular weapons, though. I'm not into the cartoony look.)

That's why MMORPG are dying. WoW and FFXIV are like the only two big games out there. If they can't develop the concept of MMORPG and surpass this garbage grinding bs, it will die.

Still relevant a year later. Thank you for this thread/info. It's much needed. My drop rates for legendary tokens have been good until I got to the last 3 which cost 30 each. I did over 30 Fates last night and nothing. I seem to have really bad luck in the evenings. Morning drops much faster for me. I'm doing it all so that way next year I can ignore unless they add something new. I have over 400 regular tokens that I can do nothing with. Wish they'd let us trade em for legendary tokens. Even a 100:1 rate would be fine with me.

A word of advice: save Blizzaria, USApyon and Noko for the final weapons. You can get their legendary medals in Outer La Noscea, where there are 2 FATEs that pop back to back in U'ghamaro Mines (Fullmetal Alchemist and Making the Rounds). They are related, so as you complete one, the other one will pop inmediatly. There's also a 3rd FATE that spawns in between these two, which is related to the Crystal Tower quest (Stopping the Shakes). That FATE MELTS, so go do it asap when it pops for an extra chance of getting your medals.

I finally got all of them this morning. It was a pain in the uhm...

Weird. The only way you don't get a medal is if you either fail it or if you get Bronze. Regarding the accuracy... I'd say not completely, I may have missed some medals because I wasn't wearing the watch (swapping classes and whatnot). But at most I probably missed around 10 or 20 FATEs total. This isn't taking into account the amount of medals needed for the minions.
