Hairstyle Contest winners announced!

The male one is disappointing, but hey it isn't that damned ponytail.

The female one was actually the best, have a southeast asian vibe to it, very original and hot one.

I think they should hire one extra dev and his only job is to implement most of these hair styles.

Ugh of course the male one is some androgynous mess.

I think the fact that both winners had fewer votes and appeared later in the contest is a strong sign that people didn't understand the proper voting process. What I hope is that the devs or community team will acknowledge this and say they will add the 'popular vote' winners to the patch after 3.1. It's too late to hold another contest and I don't think it's fair to take back these winner's prizes. And maybe next time they can just have it that the most liked wins and vote for as many as you want, much clearer.

Honestly, you're just grasping at straws to try and prove that the one you like is so original and unique, while claiming the winner is just a copy. Cherry picking at it's finest.

Personally, there were a bunch of hairstyles shown in the thread of people NOT chosen that were far more amazing than anything in the contest. There were two, in particular, that were just gorgeous. But, we got what we got and it's done now.

I wouldn't say its original...I've seen that used on celebs all the time, and here in NYC I see it EVERYWHEREEEEE...I dunno about asia and what not but its been used throughout the world for the longest time. ^^;

Given how much more detail the entry has I'd say it's more an artistic rendition than direct copy.

Ok seriously. I checked each page and no one seems to point out the fact that runner up had more votes and I thought this contest was whichever got the most votes out of the ones that were picked....
The underlying fact is that the topic doesn't seem to count the right amount of likes at all stating that winning female got like 4k votes. When I checked on the last day of the voting they were up at the 6k mark and infact the runner up was ahead of the winning hair? Someone please explain this?

Your inability to read both the rules of the contest, as well as the thread is made apparent by this post.

Hint:
The rules state that only the last vote cast counts.
Also, it has been brought up multiple times in this thread, by others who didn't read the rules.

Its because Square Enix decided to clarify/semi slip in that only the last like counts for the competition instead of how people interpreted it for the scarf competition.

Additionally, everyone who voted from my fc (at least during our chats), voted for that, and 13 has never once been mentioned in fc chat while I've been on.

Oh no...haha not everyone, just some here and there..I voted for it myself originally and did not even think to compare to Serah (Because I also did not play FF13) until my friends pointed it out to me..now its an ongoing joke haha. I mean either way, it is cute..I wanted the braid one much more, but meh..I suspect they'll put it in eventually, and I'm sure I'll use the side pony tail..lol was just poking fun at stuff :P

So, the one I wanted for male hairstyles won.

Only in that they parted similarly and both have wavy locks. There's a ton of styles like that, especially in anime.

Anyway, I would have actually preferred Hubert Brixham's hair over the style that won. (shrug) The circular empty space over Hubert's left eye is more appealing to me than the swept over flatter bangs on the winning style. It's too bad a side profile wasn't provided by the artist because I just know SE's artists are going to do something silly with their interpretation of that design.

If we're going off Gyson's levels of similarity, the only one I can see that is somewhat similar with preexisting hairstyles is two of the female runner ups but even then it's a stretch for the both of them. I'm not sure about the winner, Miqo'te doesn't seem to have a side ponytail, at least not from what I noticed.

Just gonna say, yes, the female one is pretty, but seriously f accessories.

Most of the styles with then are actually "ruined" by them.

Why can't that stuff be 100% optional?

And I have a feeling that accessory is *why* anyone picked it. Because without it its very bland and unimpressive.

Meh, no change in stiyles for me but still Gratz to the winners I guess.. I do agree the 1st Runner up style was a bit unique and would have worn that for a while, hell.. The only (Fem) Roe drawing looked good and didn't get choosen for anything lol. Would have gladly worn that & Look like it was an actual Roe style lol Obvisouly Long Hairstyles have no chance of winning *Coff* Cliping *Coff Coff* and some current winners kinda look like altered versions of the current styles in game already. But if thats what people want then, again.. gratz to you I guess

what all the hairstiles had names on japanese did not mean what all where maded by japanese, but what their original name whas translated to japanese as well as other languages

I've been waiting for a side-pony for a while so I'm rather happy that it won. Unless they really screw up it up, I'll finally be changing my hair after almost a year of the same style.

All hair sans the bangs is being put back to form the ponytail. One braid could be formed to fix and hold it in place. But that forehaid braid is just confusing and weird...

Imo they are not even that similar. Only the general shapes resemble each other, but as you can see there are some easily visible differences:

- One has forehead showing, the other doesn't.
- One has side parting, the other has middle parting.
- One has hair lumped on one side, the other is an actual pony tail (although it's kind of hard to see the lightning hair so correct me if I'm wrong).
- One doesn't have a flower, the other does.
- One is messy, the other is neat.

Besides, not everyone has lightning hair. For those people even the general shape of the winning style is brand new, and I for one am happy there will be a medium length one-sided style available for everyone.

I wanted the last Runners-up so bad.

I'm sad. :(

Funny thing is, I'm not claiming it's "so original and unique" at all, I am however saying it's /more/ unique and /interesting/ than the winner. Which it is, out of all hairstyles, how many were of a similar length with tiny differences to the winner...

You're right, it is done, that doesn't mean I can't post my disappointment with not only the winning entry, but the contest as a whole. Too little choices, too many similarly designed options, etc.

My last statement was not directed at you specifically. It was more of a blanket statement meaning that it's over now, and unfortunately we can't really change the outcome.

I, too, am disappointed because, as I said earlier, there were a bunch of amazing designs in the 'you were not chosen' thread that were far better than any of the offerings in the contest.

You're right. Lightning's just hangs loose across the shoulder while the winning style is actually pulled back, and a bit higher up on the side than the lightning style at that.

It doesn't look all that similar to Serah's hair either to me. Serah's is just literally a slightly less messy version of Lightning's with a side pony. This is much neater, parted down the middle with no bang and a hair accessory. Only the general shape is similar, it's really more of a broad similarity to either of these styles than an exact likeness.

The badass pompadour didn't win...
