Customization of the character may not seem a big deal... but actually it is! Perhaps even barber shops located throughout Eorzea in the future to change hairstyles for gil?

I too would love some more hair options, and I'd REALLY love height and other body modifying sliders. They could do something similar to Phantasy Star Universe's body modification, which allowed for unique body types without having the ridiculously shaped characters you see in WoW or Aion.

Hair based on characters from other FF games would be interesting. Humorously enough, Aion already did have Cloud's hair (the Advent Children version) and it was awesome.

We need more beards. Long flowing beards. Perhaps not on the Lalafells though.. they might trip over themselves.

Stop misunderstand already people those are just hair styles from other races put on another race its not new hair style
what the devs mean is that they gonna put new hair styles for races not copy and paste hair styles from other race to another

As cool as it would be, I don't think its so simple as just, "Hey, lets add some sliders ;D" and might not be possible to have such an in depth character creator with this engine they are using. There's a reason every game doesn't have a character creator like EVE regardless of the games genre.
Some new hairstyles on the other hand would be cool, but I love mine so *shrugs*

Hum... count me as supporting this, I guess.

I was certainly impressed by character creation - there are MMOs of the same intended standard with worse. But that said it is far from the best in the industry, and we all had pretty low expectations after that pathetic excuse for a character creation system in XI.

So, while I was indeed overjoyed to see my face shape was no longer tied to my choice of two hairstyles with their two colours and basically nothing else.. of course greater customisability is always lovely. You can never have enough, to be honest.

That said.. I think a character re-customisation option is something I'd prefer to see added first, albeit perhaps as a premium feature.

It's so good that I managed to make my character looks almost exactly like me.

Ppl that know me in real life know that my miqote makes me feel really really underdeveloped in the body department...

While I find my miqote cute I want to make her more or less close to myself...which is impossible.. the lack of ppl working on -dat makes it even less possible T_T

That's what I was thinking, too.. of all the MMOs I've played, only a handful of them have character creation that's *that* in depth. Aion, Perfect World, Forsaken World... and a few others come to mind. Most MMOs, by far, do not offer that much character customization. So, it's by no means "modern standard".

I think we could do well with more hair styles, voice sets, eye colors... perhaps different chest sizes for those who seem to want it in a video game (kinda creepy, IMO)... but the all-out character customization of a game like Aion, as you stated Abriael, could lead to some very, very ridiculous, often creepy-looking characters which kinda detract from the game.

By all means, more options for each race's look/sounds, details, etc... But I think they should still resemble what they're supposed to.

I guess once something has been discussed, some people feel it should never, ever, be discussed again. Imagine if that's how it was in real life and once a discussion had taken place, everyone was prohibited from ever bringing the topic up again? I'd also like to see more tattoo options and maybe the possibility to customize the color of the gear you are wearing. Full yellow gear for example would be cool.

Body-type options also seem really limited but honestly I don't mind that much the all the men of Eorzea look like they just walked out from an underwear ad shoot.

Phantasy Star Online type slider for height and width would be nice as long as it doesn't let players to create unrealistic body-types. I hate the type of games that make the character creator so flexible that the population looks like a total freakshow. Demons' Souls brrr...

I support this thread. More tattoos/scars/special characteristics and facial features options would be amazing. And of course, more hairstyles, maybe a couple more tails choices for Miqo'te? The addition of a hairstylist to change the hairstyle/color in game?

Because too many people end up dragging sliders to random directions trying to outdo each other by making the characters as ugly as possible. Or, if the system allows it even abuse it, try selecting a character that is 1 pixel wide everywhere :P
Best system would be one that allows sliders but limit them to realistic proportions, imho.

The discussion is starting to repeat itself btw, we had most arguments and counterarguments for the systems a la Aion/PW already.

Omg yes, i would love more character options! Esp more hair styles or accessories. Like a flower in your hair, or bands and pins like some styles already have.

As for all this Tera talk... Well i had been sorta following this game and was pretty intrested, but... wile it looks like a lot of fun im really turned off by how women are portrayed. I understand they want to cater to the mainly male MMO player base but my lord. Tera looks like it was made by Maxim. Eehh, may not be for me.

More options would be great but no sliders. I appreciate that everyone is pleasing to the eyes. (even the ugly people)
i dont want the creation to be so in depth that it actually feels less immersive. That said, more haristyles and face choices would be great. Maybe weight and body definition too.

More options is always better. Who cares if someone wants to make their female hyur or miq'ote look less like a brick on both sides? This game could do with some varied proportions. More hairstyles, colors, scars, and tattoos too.

If this game does indeed add female rogaedyn and male miq'ote to the mix then SE had better implement some kind of race-change-editor thingy, so I can change to whatever race I want at that time. It's not fair to add new things people are clamoring for and leave the rest of us who want new hair, faces, and things in the dust.

+1 to paid race change service. I'd do it; I'm sick of my emo-looking hyur girl. :(

1. existing characters can recreate and race change twice
2. add barbershop so people can change their hairstyle (hairstyle only ! and add rule that each character can only get hair-cut once per 2 weeks or month)

Really looking forward to more variety in the character creation, and being able to change our characters after they have been made as well! (Hair, characteristics, etc. Stuff that would make sense).

Also... Male Miqo'te and Female Roegydyn please. Female Highlander would be nice too.

This is why the Phantasy Star Universe-esque slider would be good. It allows for good diverse body types, but it also prevents you from being able to create the oddly shaped extremes you can in games such as Aion.

I'm for more choices but I'm 1000000% against sliders. People just abuse those and make retardedly small or large characters, I'm on SE's side of keeping everyone pretty.

There's no need whatsoever for limitations. You could make it a potential Gil sink, and that would be dandy, but otherwise, I don't see the point of "restricting" it.

Agreed, I don't think a limitation should be imposed on something such as changing hairstyles/tattoos and whatnot =) Players should be free to do so as long as they're able to spend the gil necessary. Now for something as drastic as changing gender/race/clan and such... I think that should be done with a ticket of sorts through account services.

As for sliders, I'd welcome it! They could impose a limit of course for just how skinny/fat you can make certain races, same with height so we won't get lalafell sized Roegadyns (as amusing as that'd be to see). I remembered the first wide game art they featured with all those races gathered, that some speculated the blond hyuran at the front looked to be a child and people thought we may be able to choose "age" for our character. That would have been interesting, but not totally necessary.

As for face sliders, further being able to fine tune our choices from the base faces would be fantastic, even if most of the time you're the only one to truly appreciate the differences in the choices you make.

My only real complaint about the customization features in FFXIV is that a lot of the options look exactly the same.

When I was making my character, there were multiple instances where I would select a different option on one aspect, but couldn't tell what had changed on my character.

What's the point of having ten different options for a particular aspect of your character's appearance when all ten of those options look so near identical that you'll never be able to tell them apart?

We don't need more options, we need greater distinction between existing options.

We had such limited options at launch and I really do hope to see more customization options. ...At least some new hairstyles if anything else. 4 styles per some races is horrid. :[

Hair options are really disappointing. I expected more. I kinda expected to see different options for front, back and side hairs.

to the game. I was disappointed when I didn't find it when I bought the game, since that was my character in 11.

A barber is DEF a must. And, imo, it doesn't need any sort of a cooldown or real money. Just make it a fairly small gil cost everytime. Changing your skin color/face/etc, that could be more grounds for spending real money (even though, I still think that could still cost gil, maybe a cooldown).

I play WoW (I know ..), and the barber is prob one of the most fav things they ever added. It's just nice to be able to change up your look here and there. Really takes out the monotony.

I thought they was going to implement a "barbershop" type thing in the future...?

What currently bothers me about the character creator is that certain additional features are either tied to race (some are acceptable, but the tattoos being limited?), or even worse to face type (scar position, etc).

It's like I have this face that I want, but I like the look of this feature but my chosen face type doesn't support that exact look. Why didn't we get a features list with a toggle on/off option plus a scroll down menu for types? *coughunfinishedgamecough*

The facial expressions in Aion are really quite bad.

Also they never said they would implement a barber, but that they would add new options for character creation in time for the ps3 release. In the new Famitsu they also mentioned new hairstyles for the ps3 release!

Anyway, I'd love to have a barber in game to redo hairstyles with game currency! It's not like I remember people based on their character looks. For me personally it's more about the name.

They did actualy, in an interview right before the game was released. The new team has also said they would implement such a thing in the future

Just no lol, actually give them a 0 def/armour rating and a movement debuff in strong weather as you have to hold it down and I'm game for it to be used.

good girly like things. heels and dresses and stuff.
Heals get a +5 chace to trip in combat and when using speed buffs a 10% chance to break a heal and the shoes take a 30% durability hit and then are - 25% movemnt not just -10% which is its base stat.

Yes I really want to see more stylised armour, but that sort of stuff isn't armour at all!
The game has a semi realistic look atm, which works for it imo..
We just needmore ornate, more styled, and yes more options overall.

I really would love to see more diversity in the look of the characters, more hair, markings, colours for hair, armour style/colours and weapons looks (size too, my bow is as big as me almost lol).
Sliders maybe a few but not to many as we need a balance between customisation and the strain it puts on Pc's when in large groups.
But we really are far to short on options atm is all areas of the look of armour, faces, markings, wepons and so on..

Anyway you trolled and didnt see my point. i like the models in ff14 i never asked for bigger boobs i asked for better gear. i like the fact that girls look like girls and wear girl gear in tera. ff14 girls wear a hauby and it looks like an over sized coat. they have no different look to me. Its like girls are trying to be men and wear men clothes that are a little to big for the little sizes of these girls. the elf girls are fine but little cat girl and hume girls should not be wearing something 3 sizes to big.

if people want huge boobs they should have them. I would not change my character but others will. people must understand its called an OPTION.. you do not have to use this option. but options bring people into this game and lord knows we need people in this game.

I am all for more options as long as the old options stay and just get added onto. Great thread +1.
