I found Battleping to work for me better than WTFast. While WTFast works, it sometimes gets jumpy and sometimes crashed on me. With Battleping, I live on the East Coast and I always have a solid 18-22ms ping. Mudra lag lately has been -fine-, but sometimes you get those nights it just doesn't want to work with you, no matter how well your latency is.
I use WTFast, it treats me really well for the most part. I'm on AZ and it brings me down to an 80 ms ping. Not quite as low as others on here but still pretty good in my opinion. I sometimes still run into issues, minor ones, with mudra delay during game peak hours.
Unfortunately cant use wtfast etc. since ps4(the mudra struggle is real). Mudra lag wasnt quite as bad for me in coil this week on the earlier turns, so at least was able to put up a not so bad 544 in t10, though im trying to reach a significantly higher number for that specific instance. T12 the lag on mudra gets pretty bad for me. Would be nice if mudras were always responsive so i could stick with raiton exclusively but eh, gotta deal with it.
Got a dilemma here. Now I have 455 SS. But for some reason right before I get to do AE on burst opening my IR TA falls off so my AE only gets to have meds and B4B.
I do huton (15 sec wait) IR SE B4B GS xpot DE suiton SE TA SF Kass Mut rai SE jug GS mug ( iR/ TA falls off here) AE ( xpot/ b4b falls off here). I'm on ps4 if that help.
Do I yse Duma also on kass or just fuma. I think I figured it out may b it's my connection I'm using hot spot off my phone to play and I'm running 600kbps sometimes 43 Kbps.
Yeah I tried this time kass mut fuma and still te same. Ir and TA would wear off then AE then med and b4b wears off. I know this rotation well.
Ok did another test with fuma. This time a lot faster. IR wore off AE b4b TA xpot wore off
i have all coil accessories except ring. Still need to get carboncoat choker cause coil one is crap compared to it. on left side i had 120 poe pants and chest, 130 feet, 110 soldiery hands, 110 crafted head, 130 belt. Dreadwyrm daggers as well. my ivl was 123 or 4 when i recorded it. One foe req was played only in beginning. Back at your ivl when i had 115 weap i was doing 488, though at that time i was using raiton exclusively even with my mudra lag. Im still making a few mistakes here and there in that instance with lining up some things well with the transition from adds to boss, and add to add, so there's room for improvement on my part.
I must be doing something wrong then if I'm only doing 440-460 by the end of the fight. I'm not messing up my rotations, and I'm nailing my jutsus consistently and on time. I must be getting hit with mechanics more than other people are or something.
I also bottom out on tp sometimes and have to ask for paeon though. Still, it does bother me when I'm not hitting as high numbers as I see others post on the forums from time to time. Especially when I already feel like I'm doing quite a lot already.
I have shiva diamond daggers poetic head/chest/legs/feet/neck/ring and the rest is 110 and I have no crafted gear.
Nonetheless, if I'm not one of the best at what I enjoy doing, then I need to find out why. Though I'm assuming that it's beginning to boil down more and more to gear and luck.
Last night in T11 I was at 460-480 and I'm pretty confident that I was on point for majority of those runs ( someone kept wiping us on tethers, pugged a healer for our static since she couldn't make it last night).
How much SKS do you have vs. How much Det/Crit? Your secondary stats can make a really big difference on your DPS.
Regardless 440-460 isn't BAD by any means on T10 for your gear, I imagine you could probably get closer to 500~. You probably dip a bit when the adds come up, you want to minimizing movement here and ensure that Storms Eye or Dancing Edge is up on which ever target you are primarily attacking. You can also split dots among the adds. What I typically do is DE the main focus'd add then use Shadow Fang and Mutilate on it, I then use Spinning Edge on it then switch to the other add to apply shadow fang/ Mutilate and then switch back to the main add. This was you can dps from your dots and don't lose much from the lack of DE/SE on the other add. Also learn to be a little greedy with charges and learn which risks you can take.
I never posted before but his topic is cool and I'm Pugilist (PUG) still only on level 15 and its pretty useful already reading what you guys had to say. I still don't know how I will get to Rouge and Ninja but can't wait, i wanna know what levels i get which at and does the transition mean that you can swap between the classes back and forth or do you have to level one at a time..
I don't know how to change jobs still must look into that. lol like i said i'm just wasting time posting this but if you want to reply to it awesome
Beastmate!
Glad you are excited : D.
You can actually unlock Rogue at level 10, you need to go to the watery town of limsa to unlock it ( Lower limsa, near the docks, should be marked on the map as Rogue's guild).
You can only level each class individually, so if you unlock Rogue then it will be level 1 while your Pugilist will be at 15 and you will change classes upon changing your weapon. I would recommend getting Pugilist to 30 first and doing some of the story. At level 30 you can become a Monk! Which is quite a bit stronger than pugilist but you have to level your Lancer to 15 to begin the quests. Once you get to level 30 that is when I Would start exploring the armoury system and unlock every job to try it out.
How well does ShaolinMike's opener do these days?
Hey guys, so I kinda went and made a little video guide to Ninja.
I was kind of sleep deprived so it might be terrible, I'll find out when I watch it back in the morning.
Hope it helps somebody.
EDIT: Fixing audio.
Not sure how much dps my opener itself does, but I do roughly 575 over 3-4 min, but dps is way more based on your gear than your opener (though opener makes a big difference). For reference, I'm i120 with the i130 weapon (my current gear is http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P4T7 ).
@Firana: Good guide, though the music is too loud compared to your voice and the whole thing is very quiet. Also, when discussing when to use Dancing Edge you say something like "...or if the Warrior's about to use Storm's Eye then use Dancing Edge" where you obviously meant Storm's Path. Your ninjutsu pronunciations aren't great but I won't hold that against you :P One useful trick for Perfect Dodge is to use it to dodge Iron Chariot in phase 1 of T9 and just stick on the boss dpsing through that (can also use in phase 4 but people like to yell at me if I stay on the boss during supernovas, good for dives+chariot though). Can you dodge the divebombs in T13? I haven't had the guts to try.
Your opener will only make a difference on your DPS for the first 2 minutes of a parse to be honest. After 3-4 minutes, your average DPS will stabilise, no matter what your opening burst is.
I fixed the audio:

This is my Ninja guide, it's pretty rushed and I'm kinda ill, but it covers the basics.
A fellow Brit! Nice video Firana.
How useful is SS as a stat? Should i try and have as little as possible? Is 447 too high?
Well I actually learned something from that video firana posted. I didn't huton is like mnk GL3. I thought what huton does is increase animation speed off all types and auto attack as well. Thank you for that.
It's the worst dps stat but it's still pretty good, you can see the stat weights on the first page. Don't worry about your current skillspeed being too high as long as you aren't actively seeking it out or giving up crit or god forbid skill speed for it. SS gets bad when your TP management is impossible even with a BRD singing paeon frequently which isn't really possible with current gear. I'm at 427 SS currently, and while it's higher than my final build will be, it doesn't bother me at all and I get a fun 1.95s GCD with selene buff up.
Oh ok. Thanks for the tips. http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P5BF is my gear. Is my SS too high? I do about 480-510 depending on latency.
As I said: "Don't worry about your current skillspeed being too high as long as you aren't actively seeking it out or giving up crit or god forbid skill speed for it." It's still a solid dps boost.
If that's dummy dps for that gear it seems good. Compared to me I've got about 68.747 worth of dex more stats than you (1454.4 dex overall vs your 1385.653) and do 575 or so as I've said. Your melds aren't quite ideal on any slot and you also have way more accuracy than you'd ever need - as a quick fix I'd swap that Auroral Ring for a Judgement Ring or switch to Shiva's bracelet.
While maybe not the cost since you've already melded your gear, you could get +1 crit and +3 accuracy on your hat, +9 skillspeed on your chest, +9 accuracy on your belt, +8 more det (at the cost of 3 crit) on pants, and +6 crit and +9 skill speed (at the cost of 6 accuracy) on boots if you switched the melds up. It's super expensive, granted, but that is overall +4 crit, +8 det, +18 skillspeed, and +15 accuracy you're missing out on. That's about 7.1 dexterity worth of secondary stats. Just something to keep in mind is all.
Skillspeed might suck, but it really only sucks for TP loss. your main stat is too good to pass up in most instances, ecept in crafted gear, for the most part.
Fairly certain that, as long as you hit your required accuracy caps for whatever content you are planning on doing, and it's the highest available item level available to your level (according to Ariyala, Ramuh rings are i110 - I didn't even notice it was buffed), it should be fine.
ninja dps is par with monk. me and my static monk tried 3 mins parse and I always win.
However in real fight, ninja has harder time to stabilize dps. Our burst damage come from combining buff, njnjutsu, and normal rotation together. While in longer fight some benefit from combining buffs is lost and other factors such as mudra lag.
On the other hand, my monk is happy with trick attack boost up his dps by 10-20 in T13
SoI just finished T13 with 460 dps while the mnk was around 500
I usualy try to have 580+ cri so that avg cri is around 25%
500 cri is only around 20% real fight. Big dps difference.
Latency plays a big role - so I originally posted a 600 dps parse on my ninja a few pages back.... well recently I got battleping and wow, so much better!

TP is NOT the reason why SS sucks for Ninja. Like I've said many times before, in situations where you're gonna have TP issues, you're gonna TP issues, SS does NOT change that by any significant amount.
The REAL reason why SS sucks for Ninja is because it makes your Ninjutsu less efficient. The efficiency of your Ninjutsu is determined by your global divided by the amount of time you cut into your global. Doing this will tell you how many globals are lost due to the cutting. SS both reduce your global AND it increases the amount of time you cut into your global (due to you getting your global back faster), making it a double whammy. Yea SS really sucks, avoid it at all cost; its probably almost as bad as Spell Speed is for SMN.
In fact, if you have too much SS or take too long to cast Raiton, it may entirely be better to use Fuma Shuriken instead. The calculations for when Fuma is better is simple so I won't spell it out.
