I have actually wondered this.
I play on pc but I have consoles and wonder if there is a way to do this.

My boyfriend says he's done it but doesn't remember how.
I can't get anything to work with PSN.
That's what I thought. Oh well guess it's just the waiting game.
Just managed to log in on ps4!
Still nothing. But I'm trying.
I've been online throughout all of this. If you are signed in and get lucky I guess, you remain online with the PSN. I am leaving my PS4 on (turned off the auto logoff stuff) and will hopefully remain on throughout tomorrow as well.
So if you are online right now.... STAY LOGGED IN!
I am logged on everyone else should try again
Yeah, already turned off the power-saving features in the hope that I can log in at some stage :)
Still getting "The connection to the server has been lost. (NW-31453-6)" and (NW-31201-7) on my end, Victorville, CA
Its asking me to log in to psn now, i guess its better than just a black screen but still can't get in here in washington
10:35pm here in Puerto Rico and no connection to PSN on PS4. No FFXIV for me today and tomorrow. Just curious, since the supposed attackers are telling in their twitter accounts that they did it, are they deliberately putting a big bullseye on themselves? The FBI is on the case and if possible they can ask Twitter who are the owners of those accounts.
I'm very frustrated so I was looking for an e-mail address that I can whine to Sony about. I was going to tell them that it's unacceptable for a supposedly next-gen console (which is built around online play and a social component) to be handicapped so significantly by teenage "hackers". I was also going to tell them that it's absurd that I'm unable to play a game that isn't even run on their servers just because they feel it necessary to verify the authenticity of my game over PSN.
I wasn't expecting anything out of it, I just wanted to vent.
But I couldn't find an e-mail address for PSN anywhere on their website. There was only an option for a Live Chat Support. So I tried that. I was in a cue of 250+. I decided to wait. I was waiting for 30 minutes. I finally get to #1 on the cue and ...
"Status: Cancelled
There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later."
Eff you Sony. Eff you.
You'd be surprised at how many companies are defenseless against ddos.
The group attacking Sony has been attacking various others in the past week.
This just better not make me miss the Lightning event..
So what's the deal? The PS Network is down until only god knows when?
This totally sucks, didnt this happen a year or two ago and the PSN was down for like a month or something like that!? If that´s the case, that a group of idiot geeks shut the network down, Sony security is crap and i demand some sort of compensation! >:(
Yes Sony is really crappy and they have admitted just half an hour ago that there are issues with PS4 and that they are looking into it.
Supposedly.
This is so disgusting. I regret having bought my PS4 and PS Vita.
F***ing Sony doesnt deserve my money.
I love how the non-tech muppets in here think Sony could do anything about this by simply throwing money at it. The point where the bottle neck is occurring is not in or near Sonys network. The "partners" they talk about when posting about work being done to fix this are the backbone ISP providers. If you're going to get mad at any one - don't. The people behind this would like nothing more than for you to get mad at them. Be like Applejacked, just ignore them or make fun of them (or both), but be a chill bro while you're doing it :)
Some of the fault could lie with sony, though. The person who hacked them said he was able to do so because they allow modded ps4s running custom firmware to log in to PSN. The same group has tried unsuccessfully to do the same to MS's servers but XBL hasn't been reported as having the kind of service outages that PSN users are experiencing. Food for thought.
you seem like the non-tech one
18 hours is MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME to fix anything done by wanna-be hackers.
Any random small company with an IT team (or maybe even just an IT guy) should be able to fix this in less than 8 hours.
Sony is one of the biggest companies in the world and has hardware with embed software that requires their network fully working in order to have the hardware being minimally functional.
There is no excuse for the b/s of " ow it's not on sony network ". They should have been prepared for that DDOS. If not, they should have been prepared to RECOVER from that.
As it stands, neither is the case, which is way I regret having spent money on Sony crappy products.
We don't know what's going on behind the scenes though. I'm sure what measures they use stop lots of attacks, we just only hear about it when one gets through. Its like being in the lawn care business and mowing a yard of grass, but you miss one and that's the one that the client chooses to notice and not the hundreds of thousands that you perfectly cut.
The same ppl that DDOS'ed PSN have been talking about DDOS'ing SE just an FYI. It was stated in one of their threads on twitter.
I really really am hoping that this A) does not happen, and B) that SE is ready in case something like this does happen
They weren't hackers, though. There was no information compromised. A DDoS attack is different and many companies have been disrupted by one. I may think a lot of things about Microsoft's $400-$500 paperweight, but they did handle the situation much better. At the same time, it's also worthwhile to note that Sony was targeted first AND there was a warning earlier today towards MS, so they probably had time to prepare.
I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.
Not trying to be a jerk or anything but, M$ has never had this problem. I remember when PSN was down for over a month back in 2011 (i found the actual date), the xbox live service ran smooth as ever. And don't tell me to move to Microsoft, because the reason I´m with Sony is FF, so dont give me a sassy, smartass answer.
And like somebody already said, you would expect a company like Sony to have an IT team capable of fixing almost anything in 18 hours.
I´m just upset about the fact that I can't play, and for the looks of it, won't be able to in a very, very long time...PSN membership and SE membership gone to waste.
Holy crap, I just got on!
... After giving up and moving my PS4 downstairs to play The Last of Us on the big screen in the family room. My plan was to leave it on all night in my bedroom so I can play during maintenance tomorrow (since my grandparents always have the downstairs TV occupied during the daytime). But now I don't want to risk turning it off and moving it back to my bedroom in case I can't log back in.
Hopefully it's officially back up for everyone within a few hours so I can safely move it.
I finally got on
Live in central US
Sorry, I was unaware of that since I quit Xbox live but never had any issues.
And also, looks like it´s fixed, I´m in! Yay :D
omg, i finally managed to log in & i'm never logging out!
I made it in. PS4.
