People aren't spamming. This is a forum, they're expressing their discomfort and agression. Stop trying to be SE's pet. People are going to express themselves how and when they want. and i fully support them. Stop trying to put them down by saying they're spamming. That goes for so many other people that say other people are crying or whining. These people make money. This appears to be a fairly widespread problem too. It's not exactly something people should be told to just shut up about when we see whole swaths of players experiencing the same thing. The entirety of Mateus pretty much 90k'd at the same time a few nights ago.

Honestly, I am with FantasyChef only for the person who posted 3 times saying they want their money back on just one page. We get it, they're unhappy but doesn't mean they gotta spam the "I want my money back!" so often.

Mateus is on and off again, error codes 2002, 5006, and 6000 and something? I had to log off from ps3 after being booted around 10-13 times and being fed up with it, forgot that 3rd code by the time i registered and all hehe. I think there should be another hotfix maintenance since this is a repeating problem. Easier said than done though, i know. However, please fix it Square Enix, good luck.

SE have said, they do not want majority of players progressing too quickly, i think today's issue is the way to control that..

I'm still getting the 3 -10 second lag jumps all around me where a player stops and reappears in another location. I HAVE DONE THE WORKS on this PC to ensure it wasn't coming from my rig. This has been going on for the past 10-15 days

1) run Disk Clean up & Disk Frag
2) Make sure all my Drivers are up to date
3) memtest, pingtest, etc
4) Bought a brand new router
5) Reinstall my OS and every driver to an up to date status
6) Cussed out Time Warner Cable ( got a new modem & free internet upgrade for 6 months)
7) reinstalled XIV

After doing all that work, I still end up in the beginning where it started. Players stop for a few secs and reappear somewhere else in a different position.

I have never had this happen to me since the game was released until now. I am at a lose of words in what to do at this point.

Midgardsormr seems to have stabilized for the moment. I don't know about the other servers / data centers though.

The connection problems are being addressed I have looked this up, the last two days have been bad, specially last night, it has nothing to do with mine or other's internet issues or ISP issues. Whoever is doing these attacks needs to be locked away forever. I wonder if Blizzard is up to it. Imagine if they fake an attack on themselves then attack FF14 who is their biggest MMO competitor to try to get people upset and go back to WoW especially with their new Xpac out. Just playing devils advocate.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if the "reason" was trying to light a fire under SE's asses to move the EU data center to Europe like they had mentioned a few weeks back, or just is simply being done to irritate the player base with added lag during the initial weeks of the new patch. Regardless, I can't wait to see the EU data center moved simply for the traffic through to Montreal to be eased up, most likely won't be anything amazing but any amount of improvement is welcome, esp when you're a country (or ocean) away from the data center you're playing on.

And... DDoS strikes again... This is beyond silly. What the heck do the hackers hope to gain by this?

Seriously tho, a widescale ddos attack could prove very tricky to handle.

I'm just selfish, I want to play. Yet, I keep getting error 9000 w/in 5 min of logging in, followed by lovely 1014. Currently, for me, the game is unplayable. Which sucks, since I know for a fact that I have no connectivity issues on my end.

this is not gold spammers as you cannot sell to players who cannot get into the game and see the spam.

:mad: I am playing on Ps4 and for 5 days I have kept getting issues with logging in. I can usually get past the password login, but when I select Start, just before character selection I get kicked out with usually the (5006) error.

Sometimes I can't get past the password login before I get 2002 error and this will usually go on for over 1 hour of constant tries to login. Also I will get to my character selection and think all is ok and then get kicked offline with same errors.

I have also been in the middle of doing a fate or dungeon like Titan and get disconnected randomly. In this situation I can usually get back in only to find my character dead or sometimes even a complete loss of 1 whole level of exp.

It is making me upset. As this is subscription and no one who is having this issue is being given any amount of day free for it. We are paying money for this not to occur and to play. I am on EU servers playing in Phoenix world and this only is happening to NA/EU not the Japanese servers as I was told in game.

For a subscription service where your paying to play when you want and with me losing half a day of play due to this issue, there should be compensation. The day's effected should be re-added to our account. I played heaps of MMORPG's and even World of Warcraft added days back to issues that maintenance teams are meant to be fixing. I would be happy with 24 hour maintence to fix this than 5 days of wasted money. Yet still this isn't getting sorted out, this DDoS stuff.

Just a side note. I have seen comments from People saying to block the region from where it is occurring, but I am in Australia, I don't agree with blocking Audtralia from playing due to those who could be at fault. If it is Americans doing it, does that mean all Americans should be blocked from playing.

The above statement was from the bug section. I just feel something should be acted upon and fast. Plus some type of compensation for us for the amount of days we cannot get any real decent gaming in. I have been kicked offline on some days close to every 2 minutes I get back online. This can sometimes go on for up to an hour or more and thus is making me think secondly sbout my subscription which I Jude spent a heap on time cards for the future.

Denial of Service attacks have gotten considerably more complex over the years. These Distributed Denial of Service are particularly difficult because they are distributed across multiple points of origin. You literally could be getting attacked from hundreds/thousands of different cities from anywhere around the globe. Some of the fast and dirty countermeasures can't be put in place because it would break the game clients.

They're making progress though... some nodes have been cleared and it is allowing some players in unfetterred now. It's just going to take time to flush things out and clear all the nodes so that everyone can gain access again.

As for compensation... may not be happening. You aren't paying specifically for game time. You are effectively paying to keep your login active for x number of days so you may access all game related content (Lodestone Data and such... not JUST playing the game) that would otherwise be denied with an inactive login (barring uncontrollable events like natural disasters or internet outages). In other words, you aren't getting 43,000 minutes of FFXIV playtime dumped into an account like when adding minutes to a phone. It's more like keeping your phone service active for 30 more days so that you can use it when every you need to within those 30 days---but if you are in an area that has no coverage for whatever reason, the phone company is under no obligation to give you additional time. Not the best analogy, just one off the top of my head that many may relate to better.

Getting 90k and 2002 on Levithan can't even log in!

PS4 player here to and the lag spikes on my end are bad. I have a feeling it may be do to PSN having issues and what not lately (past week for me). I just got a new router from TWC today just to be on the safe side and it im still getting lag spikes/ packet loss. I guess next step would be to get my lines tested in my APT if its not a issue on Sonys end (wich I think it is).

I have a similar issue. Not getting a 90k error code but randomly disconnecting from the game. This seems to occur randomly; I can get disconnected while running around in Ishgard or any other area or I get disconnected in dungeons - both old and new. I'm not sure how to fix this as I'm not seeing an actual error code.

EDIT: Playing on PC port, haven't tried PS4 port.

last few weeks the lag has been ridiculous i often do pvp and part of the day its fine. as soon as its evening and esp around 11pm i cannot play properly as i get 90k every 5 mins.

today i started to 90k during the day to make matters worse. tested my cables bought a new router and called my isp for a booost. everything is brand new and upgraded yet i cannot enjoy my game..

hope se fixes this shit soon.

It's likely not a local issue, but upstream. Most often we see the signs of congestion around the exchange points with the third/fourth party peering along the route to Ormuco (SE's ISP). Need a proper analysis of the route done to rule out known potential routing issues like these. It is something your ISP's Tier3 team should have the resources to sort out for you.

last two days have been running into this with a raid team to lead, when I connect cannot stay connected for long traceroute looks fine, contacted internet company and speedtested the net coming in at 4M up and 60M down, new router, cables, hardwired in, I can stream with great quality when I can stay in the game but havent even tried for 2 weeks now due to the disconnects.

let me clairfy something the 90ks have been over the past two weeks but consistently getting worse, the 2002s have been just over the past two days

Charter was getting a lot of reports of issues in St. Louis the other day...may be more of the same.

Those "speed tests" are actually bandwidth tests...anything beyond about 5mb of bandwidth can be overkill for this game. That is usually the minimum bursting rate on the modems...and the game barely requires 1mbit of bandwidth for typical game play. Watch your S/R numbers while playing---that is how many bytes you are sending and receiving (multiply by 8 to get he bit rate). Alternatively you could monitor through your router tools or even resource monitor. You will typically only see it spike really high during things like initial zone loads or where there are tons of active players to process.

As for your traces...just out of curiosity, are you using the IP your client uses or one of the neolobby addresses? I only ask because I see a lot of people testing g addresses not even related to the game. And did you see any * events or more than about a 15% deviation in response times between the pings? Under proper conditions they should be consistently tight--too much jitter can indicate potential congestion issues. This game depends on consistent, timely, and orderly delivery of packets. Any delays causing high retransmission causes problems.

Might want to submit a formal ticket to SE then...and give them that tracert data. Last fall Time Warner caught what they thought was potentially a VLAN issue on the other side of Ormuco that was a potential problem (inside the SE/Ormuco "sphere of influence" it was pegging over 200ms periodically when the rest of the route was always under 100 during their testing). They forwarded their findings to Ormuco's admin email and I submitted the data to SE through the support portal--and it cleared up like 3 days later (and we haven't seen the issue since either).

It's worth a shot since you have the actual road map (tracert) for them to look at. Probably one of the biggest problems we've run up against with these issues...lots of people complaining but not enough people submitting useful data to the people that may be able to actually do something about it.

grrr....popped in during my lunch break to reload the market and send retainers back out and was getting a bit of stutter not usually there. Took two runs to catch it, but looks like something may be up with TATA right now.

Mom was streaming to the Roku downstairs (she finally learned how to look things up on 1CH and can't get her off the d@mn thing now) which can cause some wonkiness, but it's never been too impactful. Still dealing with a bit of weirdness getting around to Columbia---they've been wrangling with gateway problems in SC for a while now, so it's kind of normal these days. So long as I stay in a decent range things are OK. What first caught my eye was the stray * spike coming out of Ashburn towards Montreal (think that was Albany last time I checked) and then a 107 spike from 54 right after the hand-off into Ormuco-Montreal that concerns me. Not game-breaking for me yet since I'm so close... but it may be something for people further out to keep an eye on if it continues acting up. If it gets much worse TWC often cuts me over to Cogent or Level3 for a bit---usually have to hit up near 200ms for them to cut me over though. Will have to see what happens by the time I get home tonight.

Lexie mine is very similar to yours except I come out of alter.net from FIOS then go to level3. Do a ping test on the last 3 even though Ormuco has less latency issues you actually get most of your packet loss there, at 4.59.178.74

Eep...you got stuck on level3's car2 lines in Montreal. See those show up a lot in threads where people are having problems (and not just for XIV either).

You got a nice capture with that one...would definately look into getting that one to your ISP's tier3 team. It is bad enough you caught a 60 to 200+ swing at the same hop...but notice also that both those hops with the long response times are showing the same address. Something odd is going on there that someone needs to address or route you around.

And by last three I mean 8, 9, and 10. It's the same thing for me I go through he same hop twice with the same ip. I can't post it now because I'm on my phone. Also can't figure out how to edit messages in mobile site.

After i click Start on the Heavensward Screen and go to character selection screen. It show goblin and my toon name on the right but no character shows up on the screen. If i click toon name and choose log in and say ok, it says "World data could not be obtained. Please try logging in later." there is an error code of 1014 in bottom right corner.
