Not yet "up". You login and 90k within a minute.
Either 90k or "Server full: Players in queue: -[.....]"
Oh so they aren't leaving. Someone doesn't play for 30 days and you boot them then act like they left. You do realize sometimes people have real life issues to attend to? Our FC had someone leave for 40 days due to work and a surgery. They returned eventually and they are still a member of the guild. (this is just one of several examples I could list) You can't use kicking people as a proxy for them leaving. It is not the same thing.
Hmm 26,858 players in queue for Hyperion right now.
Don't bother trying to log in until the maintenance notice is completed. The servers that do say they are online will just get you kicked off as you try logging in.
Yup. Everything is back to normal. Log in after the maintenance and BAM! - immediate 90K.
Hmmmm this seems oddly familiar....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU44zSlJQag
I am just glad they are doing it at a time I do not play...yay for me! I seem get jacked every time their is maintenance and this time it is not me....they better not announce another one tonight from 11 to 2am...that will suck.
Why are people pissed when they can't play for 10/24 hours? Does that really effect you? If you are complaining that that is your only time to play, then obviously you have other things in your life that can take up your time. Ya'll just need some sunshine.
While ppl are bitching here and there, it's about 1 AM when they started this emergency maintenance, and they're slaving their asses the whole night till sunrise to fix this problem.
While I admit that I'm also disappointed, I do feel the pressure they had, taken from my own experience working in IT field, sacrificing our sleep just to make sure the system would be ready when official work hours started. And having worked at company that's actually on 24 hours services, having directors from other departments barging through our doors and keep checking the progress even makes this more tense. And even had to hunt through disposable area looking for used cardboard boxes for our emergency sleeping mattresses, making us no difference than beggars. And yet, we have to fight our drowsiness just to concentrate on status displays. To make it worse, we actually had to camp at office for days, even weeks. Had to pop some pills and emergency vitamins just to keep our bodies in check.
ah... those were the days I had... lol
Anyways, time to sleep. lol
The last two days, we'd get people with 90k errors in every duty we were in. Left and right, people would be asking in the FC chat or LS for someone of some role to join a duty in progress to take their place. For instance, we did a Tam-Tara completely without a healer up to the final boss, then had a friend enter the duty in progress to help us finish it. Or a Brayflox's Longstop where the tank vanished into disconnection hell after the first boss and needed to be replaced.
Then there was an announced maintenance. This went faster than announced. Cool. I was actually on for a bit and got to play a bit during a break.
I hope they fix whatever has been broken lately, because the last patches have introduced all sorts of issues, it seems. I for one appreciate that they're just doing it and not wasting any time on explaining what was broken till after the fact.

Oh, nice to know Squeeny actually uses a standards and human-friendly GMT on their EU notices.
We could cut costs on carpool and skirt child labor laws if we'd just dress our children as chocobos and ride them to work.

Hold on a second.. you remove 20-30 people from the FC, because they are inactive for 30 days and THAT makes you believe they've quit the Game? Sorry but that is just an assumption. We have a couple FC-Members which did not log for over 100 days, but they do play on a different server with their rl-friends, GF/Wife/Husband w/e. The only reason they are still in the FC is because they are long-time friends from 1.0 or even XI. Some of them pop into vent and say hello here and there, but they are far away from quitting the Game. 2 were not on for over a month cause of their heavy-work schedules, but will be back as soon as it changes again.. so really, you do not know if they've quit, you simply assume it so its a "made up" number and far away from being "real".
For all we know this could have been something that...ERASES YOUR ACCOUNT! so be happy they're fixing whatever this is immediately! maintenance is always a inconvenience but i'm happy to have it! I'm also happy they CONTINUE to promptly attack whatever issue the game might be having to insure my money spent on it will be the best as CURRENTLY possible. Kudos to SE!!! keep up the good work!
You can enter the game. Seems they fixed it.

In case you don't know what emergency means

I'm not going to bother any more. Please read. Lots of helpful posts in these besides what I linked.
lol really? Are you sure you want your name next to that post?
Seems your logic goes something like this then:
It works for me. So it's clearly not an issue on SE's end.
This is about what you're getting at is it? I mean, it's not what you said word for word, but clearly what you're implying.
I agree with the OP. There is a difference in emergency and prompt. if there is some hotfixes they want to deploy, then they should apply the fixes by region within the non-peak hours. using emergency label so they can do it during their work day instead of when least impact to customer base is poor management.
in all cases there should be a minimum window of the longest event so not to disrupt / alienate their customers.
the bottom line is that if they tested their code before releasing it better, we wouldn't have all of this. Oh, and before someone replies with 'you cant test everything': yes you can. They control the servers, the zones, the abilities jobs have and the boss. There are unit tests which can fight the boss 1000's of times in a day using every ability available.
This Monday night there was a lag spike which clearly indicated that the servers lagged and not the players or the internet. Titan literally paused for 20 seconds then resumed (not rubber banded).
