Only way to stop it is to necro every single thread in existence then can't be necro'd for months

Final Fantasy XIV is like a low end restaurant. The place is a bit of a dive. The food isn't that great and the service is lousy.
But if your in that restaurant with a good bunch of friends you can still have a decent time.
Not to different from a lot of peoples day jobs I guess. Your job can be terrible but if you work with good people it can become so much better.
Think it's a fairly common opinion in XIV as well. Seems to be one of the deciding factors of how long new players stick around for. Whether or not they make decent social connections.
Edit:- should pay more attention to dates...
i mean if youre not enjoying something and find it boring no one is forcing you to play. FFXIV is still going strong with sub fees and new expansions so its just you.
If you played XI, then came to XIV due to XI, I can see why the game would be "Boring."
There is no BST; that was my main in XI. So I am kinda bouncing through jobs like "Meh..."
Summoner is kind of different too, so I am kind of thrown off. Bored my be too strong of a word, but I enjoy other mmo more due to them having true pet classes.
I only played pet classes, & "Bored" is subjective which is why I left it open to debate by saying "I can see why the game would be boring" as opposed to saying "The game is boring if you played XI."
I like the combat, the monsters, the animations, but my main jobs are not in the game as a former FFXI player.
It's clear you're a new player, so here's some brutal honesty for you. This game is boring as hell for your first 50 levels. It really is. The ARR content just drags on, no classes really get good rotations, it sucks. It gets a little better in Heavensward, then better again in Stormblood, and it shines in Shadowbringers.
Once you actually get to endgame there's a lot to do. Raiding alone becomes enough of a challenge to keep some people busy. Low level crafting sucks, but at 80 you start making real money and it's fun.
Yeah, the BLM rotation is mind numbing but you also need to focus 3x as much on moving as anyone else. Your skills want you to stand still, the bosses force you to move. Standing still and doing it is easy, avoiding a barrage of mechanics while maintaining top dps against classes who are allowed to move and attack is a struggle.
This is a necro, op likely doesnt even play anymore. They've been level 50 since like 2013...
I find it interesting that the first few pages of posters are mostly players whos mains are still stuck at level 50. Both defenders of the game and those claiming its boring in ways and needs improvement. Its as if they all quit of boredom during ARR. ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
Game does have some issues in some places, in my opinion. I dont enjoy grouping up for dungeons/raids/etc on repeat. Its incredible experiencing a duty for the first few times but then I lose interest. I would like an expansion on the hunts and other single player systems. More hunts per day would be amazing. Also would like to see different types of postings. Instead of just Boss tier single targets, we could get kill x amount of a monster quests. Imagine the quest/hunting board in Monster Hunter or an isekai type manga. Sometimes they like you to gather stuff and sometimes there are bads attacking a defenseless village/town. I actually enjoyed Leves for this reason, the variety they bring, but I needed the allowances for crafters and dol so I rarely ever used them for combat and by the time I do finish my doh/dol. My combat classes will be too high to bother doing them for the xp. I had heard that they didnt even add any Leves for combat in ShB. Though i havent bothered to look for myself so I could be misinformed. If they added some for ShB and added nice rewards to them it would be amazing.(Maybe tomes and gil?) Fates could also fill this hole a bit, but are a bit too infrequent and the rewards just arent there. Exp rates are trash compared to dungeons and roulettes.
Fishing needs more purpose and the materials needed for some crafts are way too much.(cul/ltw esp OTL) Give us a fishing competition. Give us more randomized loot drops like chests that have random contents on the inside. There needs to be a better way to get skins and meats. The drop rates are awful. A hunter DoL would be great. Set traps near mobs and if they walk over the trap, they disappear and the trap changes to look "closed." We would click the trap to get materials or maybe a corpse? Turn that corpse into materials by skinning and disassembly for fangs and the like.
The gold saucer is also a huge disappointment. I LOVE the Air Force One GATE. I LOVE the mini cactpot. I could play both for hours at a time. However one is gated behind a timer and the other a daily limit. All of the other minigames, the small ones, are free to do indefinitely but are boring and provide such little reward that they become pointless. Chocobo racing is almost a dead activity. Again I love it. I cant say much about it beyond wishing that more people played. LoV is dead. I see 3-5 players on the tournament board each tourney. XD
Simply put, I feel like the gold saucer could be a blast if they just tweaked it a little bit.
Timed content is horrid. I hate it with every fiber of my being. If somebody wants to have max tome gear on week one, let them. Why should we care? Because they will get ahead of people with Jobs/family/etc? Dont forget we have crafted gear. You can get that in less than a day if you want and have the gil for it. Somebody is always going to be ahead of somebody else. Timed gates try to fix it but still dont completely and in the end just spoil the fun for some of us.
All of the things written here are opinions and I know somebody disagrees and that's fine. I rather enjoyed venting these frustrations of mine and thanks for reading.
My play time is down to 1-2 hours a day. All I do is log on to do the daily hunts, pixie quests (For goetias) and then the weekly turn-in quests for scrips.
Lately, I've been also trying to do 1-2 fates in each zone as I pass through, working toward getting to rank 3, just for something extra to do.
I have all crafts at 80, but I only make stuff for myself, since gear takes forever to gather for, make, and especially sell. Also, I have plenty of gil and nothing to spend it on, so there's no reason to do more crafting than I need.
I have some new perspective on the actual topic of this thread after having (and currently) played ESO while my sub for this game had run out. I actually think FFXIV is very fun, I think it is the best MMORPG out on the market currently despite all it's flaws. The only time I ever stop playing it regularly is when I run out of content to do. I usually don't want to just stop playing - not like with ESO. I play ESO, stop playing one day and I won't have the urge to EVER go back to play that game. I can't even explain why, but when I stop playing this game. I think about it, I lurk the forums, I read the updates, and I just think about how "I can't wait for the next big content patch!". I just wish SE gave this game the attention, and resources it deserves. If I complain about the game, it is because I want to see the game improve, not from a straight dislike of the game.
I understand that Yoshida is content in the fact that this is a more "casual" game, as in most of the audience takes breaks between patches. I wish he wouldn't have this stance, I wish we got content all year round to keep us playing the game. For me, not crafting, crafting is boring. :D
Greetings. Please dont feed the troll. This person is resurrecting old threads either out of lack of knowledge or boredom. If you see similar threads please advise others. Thanks
To all those that posted a few pages back on why i revived the thread you are all lame, lol
The thread at the time i had posted appeared on the first page in the General section so therefore someone else had replied and revived.
I replied not even having looked at the date in which this thread had been created.
If i wanted to be a troll my name would be Brofist or titanmen...
Thing is, in the Japanese community, they like to pool everything together into one megathread (including a year or so down the line if they have new information to put in about a topic, hence the "resurrecting old threads"), from my understanding anyway from what i've read others say. By doing so, it garners more attention as all the information is nicely together in one thread, rather than someone making a thread for their views on a topic of which a thread already exists. Which I think the way JP supposedly does things is better. It keeps the topic in one thread, rather than going to like 200 different threads about the same topic.
I love the game but I do think ‘boring’ can be a valid criticism. I did leave once because I was bored. A lot of people often say ‘burnt out’ which is possibly true.
I feel a lot of the game design is very ‘safe’ and formulaic. For instance most quests play out the same way, most dungeons play out the same way, the levelling experience for most jobs plays out the same way.
Repetition is boring. And FF14 is repetitive. But I don’t think this is necessarily a terrible thing, a lot of things become boring after a while.
I love how people say,
Then say,Quote:
"We didnt need another thread of this"
Fun fact. A vast majorty of the people who responded in this thread have since quit the game. Especially the original defenders of the game.Quote:
"Who resurrected this necro thread?"
The game is mostly boring because from level 1-79 the game is absolutely horribly trivial, and does not challenge you or make you think at all. In fact, you can even be AFK for a majority of all content, including solo content.
With the ARR revamp, they only made it even more trivial and simple and fast.
If they made the game engaging, (and no engaging doesnt mean difficult) people wouldnt quit in such large numbers and they wouldnt have to rely so heavily on the mog station and new players.
Literally they have 20 million accounts, but cant even hold 1 million subs continuously.
A little effort goes a long way.
Every game, even activity in the world gets boring if you do it too many times.
It's a case of who rather than the thread, darling. Do keep up.
Oh my gosh. You don't know how retention rates work?

By the way, it's nearly 2 million by my accounts soooo, yeah.
I always find something to do from leveling all my jobs, gathering and crafting, getting achievements, mounts, minions, weekly stuff, gearing up, replay the story with new game plus because the story id the best and so great! I love my warrior of light/darkness(bunny!!!), glamour, hang with friends and free company, maps, events and so much more. :) It's never boring to me bevause i love ffxiv more than any games and been playing for 4 years with my same and unique character. <3
You might just need a break. Some people are motivated to keep logging in, some aren't.
Sometimes I make alts just to start with a fresh perspective and a different overall aesthetic. If the "all classes on one character" thing is a draw for you though this might not be feasible. I like having various alts that have different gear types because I am terrible at inventory management.
can ya'll stop necro'ing 7 year old threads? Seriously this thread is 2013....
7 plus years and still not bored.
It’s simple. Don’t play. Stop whining on the forums
I mean, OP got stuck at Lv 50 so it means they really got bored and quit the game. This should be concerning and the issue should be addressed.
At time, Beytween content. It can get that way. Part of any MMO there is a grind coming up and the community will be all about that content again and it will be fun again!
Wow, did you find a 1.0 thread this time? Amazing!
Really wish they would do something about this guy.
It all depends on ones real life situation; if someone has a real life with lots of activity and friends/family they enjoy, then yes, MMOs and any video game for that matter will seem pointless and a waste of time, but if you have an introverts frame of mind or a situation arises where you are unable to get out, then games do help you pass the time. Forgive the anecdote, but when I was in the hospital, even the home shopping network was entertaining to watch. lol Being disabled now and stuck at home, I game on a few different MMOs during the day and sometimes night. But unfortunately going solo can only be a comforting diversion for so long, without the social aspect in online gaming, it can loose it's charm fairly quick, this is why I tend to game hop a few times a day, I've found no real group in any MMO to really team with and socialize, so yes, even FFXIV with all it's splendor and beauty can feel boring at times.

in 2013, which this thread was necro'd from, didn't exactly have much content in the game and QOL as we used to now.
