just don't hold your breath till they answer its obvious they are ostrich with head in sand 'ing this issue.
Tried wow, night and day difference... I can actually cancel a spell.
Post again.
Please fix this.
I can't seems to dodge any AOE at all.
In today Titan fight, how can I got hit by Landslide when I was on the opposite direction of its attack area behind the back of the Titan?
I never stand in any attack's area at all when it fired but I still got hit by everything Weight of Land, Landslide.
If AOE's mark came up beneath my character, it's all over. No matter how I move or where I was when the attack fired I got hit every time.
I'm not going to re-sub if this issue still exist.
Well, if they keep ignoring this just change it into a poll about who will unsub if it's not fixed by 2.1. I'm pretty much already considering doing it just cause endgame is pretty boring and takes only 40m a week unless you do twin(very little motivation in the endgame community until now to do so). I feel robbed at $10 a month just to fight 3(actually technically 2) bosses a week and then get capped at 300myth within 4-5 dungeons on top of Coil etc., etc..
I feel your pain, but it is your own fault for not leveling alts or crafting.
I don't enjoy crafting, but SE wants me to. It's the point of the game. You can't go on Call of Duty and expect military Realism, and you cant go on FFXIV and expect pure vertical endgame.
25 pages and counting.
Requesting developer response - please either tell us this is a problem you intend to fix or that it's working as intended. A response people don't like the sound of is still better than ignoring everyone.
Sad thought - though not directly comparable, I would like to mention that I didn't have animation delay/AOE/lag, etc. problems playing Phantasy Star Online. On Dreamcast. Using a 33k dial up modem. In 2001.
didnt read OP. title says it all... if i can get more than 15 yalms away from an aoe before its done casting then i should no take damage... rite? close thread fix it!! end all be all.
I will not personally re-sub if this is not fixed. I spent my money, got a 3 month sub. SE still has not made any comment on this thread.
SE, you want to be the WoW-killer?
If you can't even do this, game over.
Bizzumppppp, cause this is the only thing that SE should be paying attention to. It's disappointing that threads asking for more content and better looking character butt models get more attention than a thread focused on QUALITY GAMEPLAY.
So have all you people tried anything to fix this issue yourselves? I mean it is all well and good pointing the finger at SE but it would effect everyone if it was something SE could fix.
Why would some people lag and other not lag?
I am in the UK and i can get out of circles without problem. I do not lag either unless it is a really busy area and that is normal for an MMO.
Have you guys tried turning your game graphics down as low as it can go for instance?
How about plugging your router into the Master Socket (for phone line users)
Just because lots of people lag doesn't mean you are all suffering from the same cause.
How about moving cordless phones away from routers?
Not using wireless?
Even mobile phones can effect things.
The good stuff of wow? WOW was a stupid game to begin with end of story.
SE could say that everyone isn't lagging. How could it be us?
It is up to you i guess, just because you don't lag in other games doesn't mean you don't have an issue somewhere.
For instance all your other games could have servers closer to you so the lag isn't as obvious. It could be any number of things. Just because there is a thread with people talking about lag doesn't automatically mean every single person with lag has the same issue.
Here's my logic. If we aren't lagging in other games it means those games were designed to compensate for the lag that people have because of routing.
Especially in SE's case where they put both NA and EU servers in Canada, they should do something to handle the fact that means a TON of people are going to get routed through bad ISPs.
More than likely, they need to start building more servers in more hotspots instead of piling them all in the same building.
You're right, it is up to us. Up to us to decide to pay for a half assed lag/delay filled game or move on to another game with far less issues. Can you guess which way most with this problem will go? The MMO market is pretty big, pretty stupid on SEs part to not even comment on this. Only time will tell how this game will go. I suggest people with this issue vote with their wallets. If this isn't fixed by time my 3 month sub is up in January i'll not be resubbing.
If SE continues to ignore this I'm not resubbing either until its fixed. IMO its very rude to ignore your customers like this. Makes me feel like a fool :/
I live in the UK. I've played F2P and P2P MMOs on American, Japanese, Chinese and SEA servers, all without the noticeable lag FFXIV suffers from. If anything, FFXIV is the one game out of that lot I'd expect to have the *least* amount of problems with considering they've already been running an MMO for a decade and are charging top-rate prices to play.
SE have commented on this. I offered other solutions to lag problems. As chances of every single person with lag all having the exact same problem is very low. I guess you are either too stubborn or irritated to take a look at your own stuff in the chance it might fix your problem when you can sit with you arms folded throwing a strop and holding your breath.
Orrrrrr, maybe you should stop being ignorant, and read and understand the OP? While there are a lot of posts about network lag on the forums, this specific thread is about the built in action delay of 300ms in the game. None of your solutions are going to fix that.
I've noticed that the last few days have been even worse with the delay. I play with people on the east coast and I'm on the west coast and the delay is getting worse than it was before. I've even had crash to desktop several times in HC Titan and Ifrit. Something's up, just not sure what it is.
I am far from being ignorant.
I know what the thread is about. You can bet not every single person in here has tested their connection to rule out problems and are just jumping into this thread. So instead of throwing attitude at people trying to give sensible suggestions why not test your own stuff just in case.
I am not saying there isn't a built in lag but from comments i have seen in this thread some people are talking about actual lag rather than the inbuilt.
There are people in here screaming about how SE haven't spoken about the problem when in fact they have.
So who's the ignorant one?
The person coming in offering help who has read the response from SE even though he himself has no problem or the people basically throwing strops and giving people offering help a hard time?
I mean can you vouch for every single person in this thread that they are actually 100% talking about the delay and only the inbuilt delay?

So i'm ignorant now lol? Okie little one. Whatever you say. You accuse others of starting arguments, and yet you come into this thread and totally try to derail it? My stuff HAS been tested mister know everything. And infact everything i have is designed just for online gaming. And judging by the fact that i have no issues with any other game i play online, just this one, kinda makes me think this is a fault with SE. But i guess since you're here to say it's our stuff, we should take your word for it, because we're ignorant and you're not.
I came into the thread offering suggestions. You threw a fit over a few words i typed. I pointed that out. You have been nothing but hostile towards me. There was nothing hostile in my original post, i just offered help as i am sure not everyone who is suffering from lag is just suffering because of the .3 delay built into the game. I offered suggestions on other causes. I mean wouldn't it be nice if you could fix your problem? I guess you would rather just scream and shout at people who are trying to be helpful.
As Tupsi pointed out some ISP's are treating FFXIV as a P2P and throttling it. Which means massive lag. Which is also another thing it could be.
If you look back you will see i offered help. I then got a mouthful off 2-3 people and here we are. I never stated i knew everything. I just offered things that might be overlooked. If you are 100% sure that all your equipment and ISP are 100% fine then fair enough. It is no reason to stomp on someone who basically tried to be helpful.
Also please tell me how your stuff was tested. Also what brand etc it all is as i am very interested in this specially designed equipment you have for online gaming.
You sound pretty hostile to me.
People complaining about the lag issues aren't riding their first rodeo. We've played other online games without this lag. I've played other new MMOs that suffered from problems like this.
Denialism is not helping the game. I sincerely hope Square doesn't dismiss their netcode, animation delays, graphics engine, whatever problems as merely random complaints. It's borderline game-breaking given the mechanics they've programmed in.
Please tell me how this is hostile...
So have all you people tried anything to fix this issue yourselves? I mean it is all well and good pointing the finger at SE but it would effect everyone if it was something SE could fix.
Why would some people lag and other not lag?

This is not hostile, this asking straight forward questions. Not everybody has the same level of knowledge. Offering help is now a crime is it? Just because some people are effected by the issues in this thread are you suggesting that it is impossible for someone to stumble into the thread and mistake all the talk of lag and mistake it for some other easy to fix problem?
Again, your denialism is annoying beyond belief.
I can assure you I've played WoW, Rift and SWTOR on this comp without significant lag issues. This game, no. There are lag spikes, there are animation delays, there are unregistered actions, there are problems.
These problems are very similar to what I saw in the very early days of SWTOR. So I have every reason to believe it's a fixable issue on Square's end.
I have no reason to believe you, and you have no reason to suggest that other people are somehow at fault for their lag, throwing out obvious suggestions that aren't helpful at all.
If you have an actual suggestion that could cause lag in just this game and not every other online activity, please suggest it. In the meantime, your denialism offends me.
1 hop on route to a server could cause a problem in 1 game leaving all others fine.
1 game being treated as P2P while all others are not could cause problems in one game leaving all others fine.
Also if all other game servers are your own country and you have defective hardware this could hide lag that would show up far more on a server outside your own country.
Also i was not saying that there was not a delay on SE end. It is well documented. I only pointed out that some people may stumble into this thread and stop looking for fixes.
This games protocol and implementation is nothing like bittorrent or other Peer To Peer systems. In FFXIV your client will maintain two connections to your world server, that's it. In a peer to peer system your client (a peer) will connect directly to other peers (other clients). This is a client to server system.
It is possible that the FFXIV protocol has some signature that is causing a false positive with another P2P protocol. Of course, that would have been easy to fix on SEs side if it were the case.
Dude, enough. This thread is not about network lag. Unfortunately many people keep using that word. Lag != Position update delay. I could plug directly into their hubs in the data center and the position update delay would still be a thing. It is a thing for everyone. EVEYRONE!
So people coming to this thread to comment who are effected by the design flaw more than others, can we please stop using the word Lag here. It gets inane useless comments like the ones from this user, which in a thread about network latency would actually be relevant. Lets call it PUD if we need to refer to it in three letters.
Personally my game play is largely unaffected, mostly because I get 90 FPS almost everywhere. Even when my system bogs my FPS does not dip low enough for any frames to be lost. People with lower end pcs that suffer frame loss will be very effected by this.
