No. I don't have irrational problems with characters from other FFs. Especially if a story is devised for them.

Last I checked, Shantotto is the most popular FFXI character in Japan and very popular in NA. That's why she was added to Dissidia.
If Square Enix wanted to do a crossover event, it would feature her.
A Dr. Shantotto minion! That's pretty cool, now let's see them add some Metal Slimes.
Clearly this is just an expansion for FFXI, after all, it has FFXI in the name! =p
kidding
Here's a thought if Vanadiel and Eorzea are in fact one worlds.... maybe Eorzea is the same world after the Celestial Avatars have awoken? It would explain Bahamut's change from sentient to being rather feral minded like any other dragon.

In any case I do think Dr. Shantotto is rather overplayed. I'm still waiting on a crossover battlefield of epic proportions like.... Lightning Ashe Paine and Beatrix vs a party of players.
EDIT:
ok ok sheesh. excuse me. lol
Considering Shantotto was working on/perfecting a magic in FFXI that allowed her to travel dimensions, her appearing in FFXIV doesn't really make me go "but how can she!" or something of that nature. Her being a giant is also most likely: an automaton or that spell she used in the ending for A Shantotto Ascension.
Firstly, Eorzea isn't the name of FFXIV's world, that's Hydaelyn - Eorzea is just the name of the realm (or geopolitical region of Hydaelyn) that the game is set in.
Also, Hydaelyn and Vana'diel are two totally separate worlds - they may have certain similarities but they're completely separate. Calling Hydaelyn Vana'diel in the far future is like saying FFVIII's world is FFV's in the future simply because Gilgamesh appeared in both.
And if you're after a fanservice free-for-all battle, look elsewhere, as FFXIV isn't that. Play Dissidia or FF All The Bravest if that's what you want.
Mainly the thing that probably lends itself to most people thinking that it even could be the same world is that it essentially has the exact same 5 primary sentient races, and some of the same beastmen like goblins and such. Still, there are a lot of similarities, maybe they are different planets within the same solar system perhaps?
