Scholar So Far

Ok I got a noob question. I know different roles use different armor. Like melee dps use one set and ranged dps use a different one. I also know that healers use the same sets as ranged dps ( could be wrong ). But what I would like to know is that do smn and sch use that same set of armor. If not can you please tell me why so that I may better understand it.

I stopped caring about timing the pet AoE heal honestly because of the mode switching, and I find it's better to spam Embrace on the tank to conserve as much MP as possible, Embrace activates exactly at <70% HP, lowest HP get's higher priority as far as I can tell (unless enmity plays part in priority), the % is very low imo if I could I would have set it at <100% meaning any hit will make the pet start healing immediately since the heal is low (not much over-healing) and the most important..it cost no MP whatsoever!, which is what I'm doing right now, spamming Embrace until the tank get's low enough for me to waste my MP, and it's been good so far.

I just got Succor, I've yet to try it but since I already given up on SCH AoE healing, we are more or less like paladins in WoW, we will rely on direct healing to heal the party, so spell speed and Crit hit for shield will probably be higher priority stats for us.

I think you are missing something, or most likly you had bad tank. While I did lvl as arcanist I felt overpowered with my own tank and heal but after I got my Scholar soul it got even more out of hand. Fairy have no mana so she pump those heals nonstop and with good tank she can keep up alone for the most part so I just spread my dots around. Only when there is a lot of aoe dmg or tank have 3+ mobs on him in dungeons I have to heal too. I think many people forget that even if scholar don't get aoe heal until later we get twice as many single target heals and that make up for lack of aoe heal plus where white mage have to think about mana we can just keep going, also all bosses do long animations before aoe hits so cast Alsoquiuim on somebody before aoe hit and you will have 1 less person to think about.

Don't give up, if you like healing scholars are fine and it is only 5 levels before you get aoe heal anyway. I did Titan without aoe heal and had no problem to keep party topped at all time with mix of level 24-28 gear. You also should learn how fairy heals so you know who she is going to heal next and when. Her ai is quite simple she will heal lowest %hp target in range first and she does not cast heal if it will bring target over 90% hp or so, so she never top off people.

Adloquium has exactly same effective healing as Cure II and even more when you crit, as the shield potency doubles. You're supposed to use it when you need more healing than Physick can provide in a single GCD, not just randomly for the shield.

Embrace have a 3 second recast time. This is longer than most casts so if you are casting DoT's or Heals on every GCD you will lose out on so much healing from the pet if you have it on manual.

Leaving fairy on Steady and only giving it move commands seems to work pretty well. The pet starts to heal automagically around 75% HP, and you can manually cast the other skills when needed. You will never actually nede to manually tell the pet to heal someone. My only wish would be to be able to tell them to focus only on tank or something. And being able to issue pet commands while casting, of course.

Overall, I don't really have problems controlling the pet now that I'm used to it.

You pretty much never need to order your pet to heal a spesific target manually from what I've experienced.

The fairy is a pretty awesome healer, yes; I healed Toto-rak with the fairy only, and casted only five Physicks that run. I think only one of them was at the last boss.

Not really. You can heal the group up very fast with single target heals with your fairy. Your raw healing output is surprisingly big. Sure, if you only need to cast AoE heals, WHM wins, but it hasn't been a problem for me so far.

I've never seen my fairy heals pets. Never. Only herself when she gets low enough. Tell your pet to stay still, so she can focus on healing and not following you around.

Micro your pet; move her to a good position, and don't just let her follow you. You're supposed to control your fairy and not just ignore her position.

It's AoE, and the duration isn't too bad, so it's pretty decent. You can't really increase the damage reduction without decresing its duration or radius.

Wrong. A free 300 potency heal every 3 seconds is huge.

I won't bother to repeat the merits of Scholar healing or how awesome Eos is as others have already explained these things in greater detail than I believe that I could. I will summarize, though, that the job is fantastic at healing. The most recent dungeon that I've run as a healer was The Sunken Temple of Qarn (which is a surprisingly difficult dungeon compared to its predecessors) and I have yet to have difficulty in keeping up on heals while also placing DoTs. Many of the issues addressed above can be resolved by careful pet management, which has also been covered above. What I will say is that I also ran The Sunken Temple as Summoner with a SCH healer...we died...a lot...so, I'm willing to concede that the job may require a lot of focus and micro-management. Or maybe that SCH needed more practice.
As a side note: The SCH quest line seems like it was just thrown together as an afterthought when compared to the SMN quest line. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil anything.

Basically this but the questline has been disappointing. Also, the switch of emphasis to MND after 30 levels of placing attribute points into INT and in spite of us receiving Enhanced Intelligence traits seems odd. These are my only issues.

Well that wasn't really directed at you, but to those who it was, they know who I'm talking about. "I'm ok with everything" posts are easy to spot. Sometimes I feel like stopping my playtime to come into the forums to tell everyone I'm ok with everything too, but I dont, because i'm not. That also wouldn't make sense, because I would be loving everything so much I wouldn't bother with the forums ;)

I took no offense. Even though I was going for something else, I can see how my post could be summarized as "I'm ok with everything" so it wouldn't very reasonable to be offended. :)

On another note, I'm sitting at work and wondering about Cleric Stance from CNJ. Has anyone gotten any experience with placing their attribute points predominantly into MND and making use of this ability when placing DoTs? I originally wrote it off because of the -20% healing effectiveness as I was only looking at it for swapping out a high INT for low MND when healing. I haven't got much experience with it so I'm just curious about the potential.
