Double Exp weekends in FFXIV

It was boring cause we have exped 1-50 in the same zones again and again. If i take ff11 as comparison it was fun cause we had to change zone, and it was a real travel.

They should put more effort into making it a more fun leveling process rather than leaving it boring and admitting to it by implementing double exp weekends.

And they are! with quest/story driven leveling! It will have us moving from camp to camp, helping the peoples as we go. Certainly a much funner leveling process than aoeing down a bunch of mobs in one spot for 5 levels or so. . . .

Oh sorry I was talking about games with a leveling component in general, but with respect to FFXIV 1.x yeah I agree that being in the same zone probably added to it being boring.

Another part that made it boring for me is that everything turned into this giant aoe-spam-zerg-feast... with little to no thought in what you were doing. It just doesn't make sense to have virtually all the "fun" battles/encounters only exist once you reach level cap.

That's really what makes any level process boring for me: battles/encounters that are dull, lackluster, and require no thought whatsoever. And this is regardless of the "leveling process"... whether it be old-FFXI-style party-based camping, or WoW-style solo quest-chaining; both require battles/encounters.

No, no it's not "funner" in any way. You will just have the game holding your hand all the way to cap, like in every game that has adopted this leveling process.

I agree the AoE grind leveling in FFXIV 1.0 was really boring, but I don't think it was boring because it was in one spot or because it wasn't quest-based leveling. It was boring because it was just easy, unorganized, mindless fighting. I don't mind them going with a quest leveling system as long as the quests and fights involved in the quests are challenging like the story missions in FFXI.

It wasn't fun either. I'd hate to see how we were exping from Valkurm Dunes > Qufim Island > Kazham > Garlaige Citadel > Crawlers' Nest > etc... again and again. Yes, FFXIV was the worst.

Brested onus?

XI is dying, this is to provide a boost to the amount of people logging in and hopefully retain some of them as regulars again. There's no need for this in XIV at the moment, if ever in my opinion.
