This is just plain sad. If you all wanted FFXI, why aren't you playing FFXI ? Okay, I know the interface in FFXI is absolutely terrible, and that's enough reason to move away from FFXI, but come on, when they said before they were making a different game, why did you even buy FFXIV?
That being said, here's what I'm expecting that was in FFXI to carry over to FFXIV:
- Experience Penalties: I swear, dying is just senseless in this game, and raise is near useless.
- Longer grind: This is conditional to having more to do at various levels (like chocobo license, scroll quests, etc.,)
- BCNMs/Dynamis: Some large-scale PvE and some costly NM battles please.
- Seek Party Flag: Some people want to do stuff while they are LFG.
- Difficult Monsters: Where's blood-sabre? petrifying gaze? etc., Monsters in FFXIV are way too easy, even cactaurs are a joke.
- Slower Combat: I bet everyone who whined about faster-paced combat back in closed beta have quit already. I liked having time to think in the middle of battle.
- /follow: Duh!
- Spell Scrolls: Why did we all get our abilities for free?
- Level Cap Quests: Okay, the ones in FFXI were stupid, but the idea is great. They should tie it in with the main quests.
- Conquest/Imperial Standing/Campaign Points: This was AWESOME because it was an alternative means of getting gear. Some of the higher rank items were really worth a lot too. It made the missions worth doing (up until most of them became obsolete). Why SE didn't put this in, I have no idea.
- Less/Expandable Inventory Space: 30 inventory slots was a perfect starting inventory, and the gobbiebag quests were an awesome idea. Expanding inventory doesn't necessarily have to be quested, but possibly crafted instead maybe. 100 inventory slots for free is just plain stupid, and everyone who whined about it is a complete noob.
- Teleportation: Yah, let's just freely teleport ourselves anywhere anytime for any reason - what a fun way to wreck the game! Here you all are moaning and complaining about class uniqueness, and yet you all wanted this! You were all sick of relying on one class to do this for you. Anima/teleportation should be dropped, and teleport spells brought back. Alternatively, a gil cost for teleport items would be acceptable.
- Level-sync: Or something equivilant that allows playing with people of different levels.
All of the above contributes to more content despite the fact a lot of you might think it's tedious. The best part about FFXI for me was that there was ALWAYS something to do besides just leveling, and it was always a significant chunk of playtime.
Things I think are stupid to bring back from FFXI:
- Interface: The controller sucks, that's a fact, not an opinion. My 100+ key keyboard with 300+ combinations trumps your 12 button 40 combo plastic piece of garbage. SE should've abandoned the Playstation 2 a year after it's release, honestly.
- EXP Chains: This just supports killing 1 monster at a time faster. We should have grouped mobs that give an experience bonus for killing more at a time instead of 1 easy monster in fast succession.
- PlayOnline: Oh-my-god! What is wrong with all of you?! This is a horrible idea! PlayOnline forced you to pay for an ENTIRE MONTH when you start paying only days away from the end of the month. On top of that, it was an absolutely terrible cluster of crap to click through before you can actually start playing!
The rest of the junk: I couldn't care less honestly. Everyone's whining has already made any MP recovery ability worthless, and using off-class abilities (except heals) are gimped so severely that the armoury system is worthless also. At this point, they could change the classes and combat completely and it wouldn't make any difference at all. All I want is some content, which we'll be waiting a year for since this game has to undergo a complete makeover to satisfy everyone who whined about it not being FFXI enough. -

Chocobos in general
I agree with Chocobo breeding but if they do it they need to make it more hands on like FF7 instead of FF11. The Chocobo breeding in FFXI made me want to club baby seals, it was lackluster and boring and sucked period. If this comes to FFXIV it needs to be hands on, entertaining and rewarding.
Player Housing of sorts (not a Mog House, something similar but different)
Level Sync wouldn't be a bad idea either, even though it isn't really needed.
2 hour abilities. -

Everything about the XI UI was fantastic. "Don't try to fix what isn't broken" just port the whole thing to XIV and clean it up with new graphics and add in what needs to be added. Also, it's been proven that keeping everything server side doesn't prevent botting or RMT since by now most everyone has seen those idiots in some form or another in XIV, so make the UI client side so there's no lag what-so-ever. Just imo. :)

2. Companies - campny bank and all the fun stuff included with this.
3. Divx error fix. A lot of people are still having trouble in Grid. -

That's funny... when trying to turn this game into FF XI-2 not too many pple complain. Yet that is exactly what the developers tried to stay away from. If someone made a "what WOW features would you like to see in FF XIV?" man that would have pissed off a lot of pple...

Mail.
More defined classes or stronger limitations on using abilities from other classes.
Probably because many of us liked FFXI and not WoW, so we're disappointed in FFXIV going in the direction that we didn't like before.Quote:
