Wait, I thought it was on his head. There's one on his neck?
Did I completely miss that!? 0.0
EDIT: Wait, no. I knew this. Nevermind.

I think I'd lose my shit all over again if I saw a corpse of him. >_> I know my character would be locked up in a mental institution for awhile after seeing Bahamut blow up the world and then seeing an elf body <_<
I do have to say...this IS Final Fantasy after all...there's always a chance of him surviving...or at least interacting with you like Aerith and Zack do with Cloud, even though they're dead. >.>
Don't forget his insane power. He was no ordinary man... there's always a chance.
But by the way it played out, and the words at the end, I have a feeling he's gone for sure. The way he smiles at the end..that is no, "I'm going to survive!" smile...that was a, "Well, at least I saved humanity." smile.
Also just realized, when he "teleports" us to the future...I don't know if it's the "echo," but it's the same thing that happens to the hyur in the opening cinematic of 1.0.
We have the Echo.
There is every chance we will use it to see him again, even if we can't bring him back.
Bleh, I'd rather he didn't survive either. For one, it'd just undermine what value the scene had and feel inherently cheap anyway. For another..
I have to admit I never really liked him x.x A good idea maybe, but a clearly re-purposed artifact from the original storyline forced into the role of a walking theme spoiler/infodump for stuff would otherwise have been elegantly revealed over time.. It just never felt comfortable, and if he were brought back it'd be that only far worse, because now what value he had thanks to the events of the finale cutscene would be torn away and be one more thing to feel bitter about while having to deal with him.
