relic quest change in ARR?

I made a conscious descision to not join a static in 1.0 to go for a relic. This was for one reason, spamming hamlet for 20 hours a day is not my idea of fun. Hamlet is not fun to begin with, spamming it constantly just do deal with bullshit seal drop rates, even less so. I know for a fact that other players have made the same descision as me. I'm hoping that something changes in 2.0 to make the quest more fun. Otherwise, I've resigned to the fact that I may only ever get one relic in the time that I play this game.

Which is exactly what a lot of people have come to conclusion about and it outweighs the people who decided to go for all of the relics so they'll have to realize that shit will change if SE actually wants this MMO to succeed on relaunch.

That's exactly right. Yuri knows how I play, I constantly strive to have the very best gear I possibly can for all my classes. But I refuse to attempt to achieve that goal by doing what I don't find to be fun. When this game becomes a job to me, I'll quit playing. It's the same for the relic quest as for AV and CC speed runs, etc. (As many people have pointed out by posting links to my lodestone history in the PLD forums.) As long as speed runs are the goal, I won't participate, getting to 17 mins is very stressfull and not my idea of fun. If somebody wants to take thier time learning every facet of the dungeon, I'm all for it, but I won't go balls-to-the-wall right from the starting gate just to get the 17 min win.

I've started to doze off during hamlet defenses now :(. Abysmal drop rates and repetative play will does that to me.

I didnt say the way we did it is the best way to do it. but in a lil family/ls like ours it was efficiant.
We go all 3/3 for all 8/8 and the effort to get top 3 was divided by 8. everyone pitched in some labour so it wasnt all that horrible.
And them 20hrs straight where kinda fun and bonding.
What we went through we will remember pleasantly even if we passed out on the floor a couple of times during those hrs.
In the end all i know is all mah thugs have their seals done now and we dun need to hamlet again like ever...
You can do it however u want i just sugested a way that worked for us :)

Seals are untradeable and as #1 prov, they will drop streight into your inv, just like all the other things you get from the captain. Hell..... if seals were tradeable there are many people that would actually not stop doing hamlet, and at the same time possibly prevent people that actually need seals from getting theirs.

I don't think it should change. If it does(oh,well) it does... I'll adjust.

SE SHOULDN'T ADJUST THE CONTENT just because it's boring for some and/or inconvenient. Let the ones who play hard for say, 3~12 hours or 7 day static to get their seals in Hamlet, get their AF weapons. They the ones who honestly deserve it.

There's also the fact that you need to level a craft or gatherer class! If people don't want to take the time to do 'that', maybe they don't need to bother with the AF quest.

Lets say they change it to be easier(or make Hamlet more fun, BETTER DROP RATE), make AF weapons upgradable to be ++ more powerful. "Unfinished equipment" shouldn't be something to write home about.

First, the quest IS changing. I'm not sure about HD seal drop rates, but speed runs are going bye bye.

So you're saying that SE shouldn't adjust thier game to make it more fun? Hmmm, the majority of the player base that abandoned ship after launch begs to differ. Just because you suffered through it, doesn't mean new players that start after 2.0 should too.

If SE wants to make the quest harder, by adding more requirements, that's fine. But they need to adjust parts of it that simply exist to make the quest take lots of time. Hamlet seal drop rates, are a perfect example.

Lol. i know.
However if the party has a top 3 provi in it the rate for seals drops in the public loot is uipped signifficantly.

Oh boy, this tired old argument again. "My group isn't coordinated and can't execute well enough to get speed runs, therefor it's a bad design and needs to be changed." Sub-17 isn't stressful at all. You can even get under 15 minutes, so there's plenty of spare time to not be perfect. Amazingly enough, learning to play and getting everyone on the same page and executing a plan smoothly is fun. It's really not even hard at all, there are pickup groups doing it. Get yourself a parser so you can identify who's having issues and help them address those issues (whether it's gear, spell/weaponskill rotation, whatever). The whole point of MMO endgame is to improve as a group. Why would anyone be satisfied just muddling through raids? What's the point of continuing to do something if you don't care about improving?

Bottom line: if you don't care about your performance (and yes, the speed of your raid clears is a valid measure of your performance) maybe you don't deserve the best gear in the game.

Shame that YoshiP said Speedruns are being axed for anything other than obtaining achievements..read: Basically useless.
