That is correct, it's what players like antipika wanted in order to reduce lag.

Personally i am shocked by this news. i would rather have a bit of lag. Yoshi surely there is another way? i know your intention is to give people the choice and not cause segregation but you must understand that people are being forced into a choice like this. I personally do not like it one bit, it is another step closer to WoW imo. i love this game and XI because of the mix of people from all parts of the world and it looks like that will be no more... :(

Yep. So if playing with Japanese players is important to you, stay on the Japanese region servers and nothing will change for you. Except for maybe a mass exodus of people in your region who would prefer less lag over playing with the Japanese.

I think the current worlds are all in Japan, and they will stay that way. They will be making new ones for the other regions so no one has to move if they dont have to (Japanese players)

How about you guys talk with your FFXIV friends and decide a server to play on in 2.0? Is that so hard? Or are you sad that you can't play with the people you don't know exist yet because you play on a server where other people from another region you don't know exist yet play on?

You are sorta dodging the point. Yes, the option is there for him to play with Japanese players. But he can also count on not being able to talk to many players unless he is fairly fluent in Japanese. QUITE A BIT, would change for him.

The reason people are upset is because they are losing something and now have to pick what to keep. No way around that. It's something they've had and they aren't in a great mood about losing it.

There's actually more hacks out for XIV than there are for XI, most of which came about shortly after release to circumvent certain things.
