2026 FanFests

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a doomer -- I love this game and want it to succeed.

But, holy hell, SE... you've got to communicate better and more clearly. Issuing vague platitudes about "whirlwind pace" while it's easy to extrapolate dates based on your previous history of very rigid calendar structure is just absurd.

The game simply is not in a good place right now, and hedging bets behind PR speak and hoping it will placate people is not particularly helpful towards overall sentiment in the community.

Even if the best case scenario is that 8.0 comes out in January of 2027, that's a long time of... not a lot of things to fill that gap with, quite honestly; and pushing that towards an even likelier may or beyond date is crazy.

They aren't going to boost the game's budget. The writing is on the wall that it won't be getting the same attention it did in the previous expansion years. Folks should expect it to pitter patter along until it hits more of a maintenance cadence like FFXI. This whole plan for a new epic ten year saga? Wishful thinking.

I'm not usually one to outright criticise when it comes to these matters....

but I really do wish that once, just once, YoshiP would stop making ambiguous statements . "Major future plans which we'll be rolling out at a whirlwind pace". That tells us absolutely nothing.

The problem is Yoshi P and team know we can deduce the 8.0 release based on fanfest scheduling, so they know folks are going to be collectively losing their shit as they realize 8.0 might not drop until Summer 2027. They should get ahead of that, but they rather stick their heads in the sand and just let the community go negative. But who am I kidding? They ignore all negativity anyway. If you were to ask Yoshi P, DT was beloved and some of the best content we've ever head.

He kind of admitted some fault when he responded to the MSQ's reception by saying that they failed to properly convey why Wuk Lamat is an amazing character.

Stormblood overall had a bit more content, and the patch cycle was about 3.5 months.

I mean yeah it will be 2027 because of how delayed patches are. Most likely summer 2027 will be 8.0. So enjoy your no-content game till then. Please look forward to it! Hope you like 4 months patches and when we say content is going to come in 4 months... that means that 95% of the content will come even later! We are doing things of small patches inside a patch so it feels like you will get something to look forward to! 7.31 coming and then wait another... idk 1-2 months for 7.35? Trust me, that ultimate will be unique! (spoiler: it will be another "please memorize these 1000 patterns").

You ask about houses? What about houses? Oh... yeah that update, it will be in 8.0 I promise. But I never said which patch in 8.0! Hah gotcha, that may be 8.5 actually... or 9.0 but look forward to housing update!
