What is the point of playing tank other than warrior?

GNB will be at 40ish down from 43 and PLD will also be around 37. This seems to be an instance of tanks being forced into the same shape rather than specifically warrior emulation.
5.0 drk is an utter abortion, the sooner it has a playerbase of 0, the sooner they can put the real one back.

I'm not really sure what's so incoherent about it?
You seemed pretty vocal whenever Drk did something better than war.
Especially when Drk was a better tank to deal with bleeds during Abyssos, or that time Drk did slightly more dps.
Conversely, i've also seen you complain about War's job identity when people proposed to then also homogenise the things that War does.
I figured you'd be happy is all. You seemed happy when they homogenised the tanks even further this expansion. Only if it benefits War of course.

Warrior is «*good*» for dungeon and it’s not thaaaat good since you can just offgcd heal other tanks

Savage/Ultimates/Criterion Savage doesn’t have enough damage to make the war self healing so good that you need to have a warrior, and so you will prefer to have good damage tanks than «*not having to off gcd heal from time to time*»

The biggest advantage for War is Holmgang, you have an extra usage in some content

And from what I see on fflog, adps/6.4/95th percentile, for each savage fights drk>gnb > pld&war

As a WAR main, this. WAR is fantastic but the people here love to act like its the antichrist just because the lower content it does do well in, it does well. To just about any content above it, you need your healers. Even with the cases where there's no healer clears like TOP, yeah we got the meme group but it's not so common that everyone's doing it, pretty sure it's rare even amongst the higher end players as a fun challenge.

I still love WAR myself but like bruh, it's a good job but until I see Bloodwhetting sap 20% HP off a boss somehow, I think we gucci. Better to find buffs for the others if that since this isn't a game that deals in nerfs like a silly KRMMO. I can tell you though even after months ago, the opinions won't change sadly so I'll just go sail into DT, whether or not WAR is amazing at the start, it'll be fine. It's a job that has little fear of long term badness which I can enjoy as a break from MCH.

Funny it's almost like you're saying it's good that drk was half as popular again as the next most used tank for both DSR and TOP, and notably more for abyssos. It's not like warrior wasn't least used in promise, verse TEA and gate last expansion by a significant margin either. Perhaps dark knight's identity is overrepresentation.
Could it be that there isn't a conspiracy to delete dark knight, but that they measure job success by its use? Surely not. They'd be forever reworking monk if that were the case. And paladin having literally half the use of the next least popular tank in a raid tier would surely lead to an emergency rework for it. Good thing that never happened, eh?

Perhaps it would help if you stopped using warrior as a scapegoat and actually looked at what they're doing.

PLD can disengage more easily with their magic combos compared to other tanks but especially WAR. Tomahawk is not an equivalent, Shield Lob is the equivalent there, and yes even with the bigger hitboxes there are still times like Zeromus where the arena is just that big so that it can be useful.

DRK damage in general is generally high along with their massive shielding which can be better post prog when healing isn't an issue. WAR at most has Shake it Off and Bloodwhetting but the shielding is on the lower side by comparison. Pretty sure DRK was just fine during the P8S week1 memes.

GNB has the higher APM for tanks who can't stand idle hands while dishing out a general balance of some dps and healing, even more so than Paladin thanks to Heart of Corundum and Aurora. WAR is a much simpler tank that runs slower by comparison. Also was just fine during the P8S week1 memes.

WAR is fun, I'm happy if the other tanks can get some stuff too, but please. It's not hard to see differences. But that's the tank threads in a nutshell. B)
