Charging $18 for that is a joke. There's better stuff you can get in game from quests or drops. >_>

Holding my breath for an insanely well designed and detailed costume put on the store that will be only wearable by Hrothgar or Viera..
I mean if they're not goona give us a discount on costumes with hat pieces that we cannot wear... which is locked per character btw.. not to mention selling the product at the same price as a whole when 1 part of it is missing.. is just bad lol Normally when a piece of a whole product is missing, its marked at a discounted price.. why cant it be the same in this case?
Well, overlooking the fact that you, and the person you referenced, felt it necessary to resort to insults aside - you're entitled to your opinion.
However, I'll say this: Gullible? Lacking control? Nope. If you want to pin those lables on anyone, look no further than those players addicted to buying lootboxes in just about any game that is committed to a business model with no qualms about encouraging gambling addiction. Game players who then post on forums/social media bemoaning how they spent all their money and didn't win anything worthwhile..... and then go back and do the same thing all over again when their wages are next paid.
Compared to that, I have no problem with buying an item I like, for a fixed price, and getting exactly what it says on the proverbial tin.
Again, I'll spend my hard-earned money how I wish. If you choose to vote with your wallet where the cash shop is concerned, that's your prerogative - and I won't resort to insulting you for that choice.
Actually, I think SE would actually make MORE money. More people would be willing to buy individual pieces, and there are always going to be people who want the whole set. Plenty of hrothgar/viera players likely don't buy this stuff at all (I know I don't) because they are being ripped off and can't use one of the pieces, but if we could buy the individual pieces, there's money SE wouldn't have made otherwise. Plus people who might not want the whole set but like, say, the gloves might choose not to buy an $18 outfit for one piece, but would be more willing to pay like $3 or whatever for one piece.
I mean everyone knows lootboxes are predatory and unethical, I don't think anyone's arguing against that, it's just these glams are ALSO pretty predatory as well, but in a different way. It's just frustrating seeing people buy this stuff and further enabling SE to screw over certain players in the process.
Fair comment, and at least more reasonable than the previous.
I don't know - I mean, I'll concede that, where the cash shop is concerned at least, it does seem - at least at face value - that the only language they understand or care about is 'Credit card'.
It's a tricky one, though. I mean, I spend the vast majority of my time at work. When not at work I have family commitments and what little time I get to myself is late evening, when I log into FFXIV and switch off from all the stress and responsibilities that revolve around working in healthcare and having a family. Therefore, if I want to spend some of what I earn on the only thing I really get time to do that isn't work/family related, I really don't see why I should feel guilty for that nor concern myself with other people's spending habits.
Actually indirectly you do have an impact on what the company does, doesnt really matter if you accept or not, the more you purchase stuff from said company, the more you enable them to make more "premium" stuff instead of putting it in the game, it's not about being guilty or being concerned, it's about the fact you indirectly have an impact of the game, and people have the right to call you out for it.
Hey, if it didn't come at the cost of telling SE it's okay to screw over Viera and Hrothgar players, while also giving a middle finger to miqo'tes, au ra, and, if their ears get cut off, lalafells and elezen, I'd completely agree with you. As it stands, IMO people should be instead clamoring for SE to either fix this crap or add glamour items to the game itself instead of asking for more than the freaking sub we pay for them. Not gonna harp on it though, I've stated my view and I'm done.
