May I ask what are you basing your healing output comparison between WHM and AST on? What makes you think AST can heal more than WHM for example?

I ask because I'm not aware of any content in the last few years where one has genuinely struggled with sheer healing throughput relative to the other. There are fights that have favoured one kit over another but that's generally been more of a mitigation or cooldown timer thing than HPS.

Honestly, the last time I can think of where a healer genuinely fell short on HPS capabilities was ASTs progging Gordias in 3.0. It was pretty much tightrope walking start to finish, the second something went wrong, the AST was doomed to fall behind and had no real way to catch back up without the other healer bailing them out and importantly, having the resources and GCDs to do so without dropping the ball on their own responsibilities.

Depends on the content you do, i don't do savage /ulitmates where the only healing abilites allowed are off-global ones
I do normal content - aka casual content.. and here we're actually allowed to use our full toolkit..
AST who knows how buff their heals and set up heals in advance, will do more HPS than WHM..
(It's not a big gap..they're quite close in HPS)

How could people still think healing GCDs are forbidden in EX/Savage+?

They are optimized, so naturally you will cast less to help with the dps check better as you learn better. But that doesn’t mean you are not allowed to use them.

It also takes a great deal amount clownery in casual contents to really necessitate the use of GCD heals to bail people out of their mistake. Lower lv synced contents where we don’t have as much tools in our disposal also does this.

True, but you often get attacked and harassed if you use GCD in harder content :) since it's easier to blame the healer if they fail the dps check..

You’ve mentioned not playing anything beyond savage so I’m gonna take your words for that. With that being said, if the party is blaming a healer in a bloody Extreme trials for failing their forgiving DPS check, there’s a lot of bads to unpack from the dpses more than their healers, assuming mechanics are properly resolved & nobody’s afk for half of the fight.

Healers are more likely to get blamed for deaths even if it’s a party mit issue in PFs (take my words as a grain of salt, I stopped PFing since early 6.1)… which suffice to say, that’s no longer solely healer’s fault.

Also excuse me; ‘attacked & harassed’?

Most would just leave or disband the PF. Harassing is against ToS and majority of player knows at least this. So I am sorry to say that I find your claim ‘often get attacked and harassed’ is hard to believe, as that’s basically a free ticket to GM gaol to the offenders.

No you don't, why are you making up scenarios about content you don't do and saying that happens often? That doesn't happen, especially not in Ultimate where GCD healing is required

From my experience, most extreme runs that wipe to enrage is usually because of too many deaths, never has anyone blamed a healer for not doing enough damage. I've been pugging since mid-HW and most of the content I do is through pugging.

Healers do get blamed for failing mitigation checks, even if a melee didn't use Feint. I have also been blamed back in O8S for the party dying to a raidwide from full HP despite being a WHM. I've also been blamed in P8S despite already using all of my available mitigation, some people died to Stomp Dead because neither of the melee used Feint. I can say that in all my years of pugging, I've never once seen a healer get called out for not doing enough damage. The most common thing people say when enrage happens is "All right, use food and pots, is everyone aligning buffs?", and if we keep seeing enrage, people usually just say "This party doesn't have enough damage". People simply don't blame healers for not doing enough damage.

- people who never do high end content

Tale as old as "but healers shouldn't want to have interesting non-healing kits!"
