I 100% agree. There is one thing I am certain about aveyond and that is that they very deeply care about the game. You wouldnt involve yourself this much with the forum of a game if you didnt care about it. I just disagree with a lot of their assessments and interpretations.

That is an impression I get frequently. Rather than try to speak for all, the impression I get is that aveyond tries to speak for all the "real" fans. That all the people who like the game currently lack critical thinking and arent real fans. This post from this thread just reinforces that impression again:

On a side note, I never felt like the "other person" you're so happy to attack here tries to speak for all of us. They're stating what they are unhappy with and posting what they think would solve it.

It's one thing to be unhappy about something. "I don't like x. Please fix x"

These posts are more along the lines "If we don't fix x the playerbase will dwindle to nothing. I know what I'm talking about because I have a high standard of quality and I speak for the people." They even claim to have experienced 1.0 and the game is in a state near to that catastrophe.

EDIT: Looking over their characters, their focus is clear and limited. It's only adventure and story. That's someone who will never be satisfied as this game is not meant to satisfy just one type of player at any given time.

XIV is a place to try new things. I think they do a decent job of that. I was a die-hard caster for many years and this game got me trying out healing and tanking and I've fallen in love with and gotten good at both. If you're gonna be a stick in the mud, that's fine. Just don't come here belly-aching over the state of the game like your path is the one true path and you're the authority on quality.

If aveyond was a true fan he'd have a 2011 forum join date. You're telling me a true fan like him waited until the end of 2021 to join the forums to complain about things that needed to improve to make the game better?


He's just a new player trying to come off as a "true fan" whatever that means.

Heavensward is XIV's wrath of the lich king so I don't get the Gaius comparison.

His join date is irrelevant. What you're saying is, new players have no right of an opinion of their own and should not be allowed to voice it either. Implying if you just recently joined a game you cannot be a "true fan". That's gatekeeping in the worst way.
